Ok, Lets do some math.
-To get the base game, TDB, HoW, and the Taken King you only have to pay $30 at GameStop right now. All of your progress will carry over so now you just have to worry about the console and ROTL.
-Rise of the Iron releases September 20. That's about 14 weeks and 4 days from now.
-An Xbox one cost around $300 dollars alone and the PS4 cost a little more than that. Let's just say they both cost $300 dollars.
-$300/14.5 weeks=$20.69
You need to make about 21 dollars each week. But let's add in Rise of the Iron which is $30. So in all you need Destiny and all expansions, a new console, and the new DLC. So $360 in total.
-$360/14.5=$24.83
So now you need about 25 dollars a week for almost 15 weeks. Or about $3.60 a day for 15 weeks.
Now, you can get a cheaper console if you get it pre owned. Then you can sell your old console to get even closer. I didn't because I had a lot of 360 games so it took longer. You may all have your reasoning for not getting it sooner and that's cool. But it has been about 3 years since they came out, so we all knew this day would come. It is unfortunate that it happened now, but there is nothing we can do about that

(For the sake of showing both sides, I'll argue against this point) I hope you realize the argument 'It's been 3 years, you should have upgraded by now' is very useless as one. 'You have had 3 years to upgrade' I've also had 3 years to not care or notice about the Xbox One (PS4) and have been content with my 360 (PS3) up till now, so I wouldn't have saved up money for that specific purpose. I also realize that the upgrade to Next Gen had to happen (as both a 360 and One player) but it should have happened at the next game logically not in the middle of an expansion (graciously Bungie weren't complete dicks about it and there is some time to upgrade and buy it before launch.)

I was gonna stick this to the main but I see your pretty active on your topic so I'll post here. With ppl with old gen I wonder what games do they play? I mean destiny is not the first to go new gen only. I had a ps3 until nov last year. My reason to upgrade was due to me being a big Redbox renter and Redbox stop (ordering at least) games on old gen. However most new games are not being made for old gen anymore. So I would think that ppl who are complaing are facing this issue not just from this game but for most games but just choose to bi.tch about it here.
-
I doubt that but it is a possibility. My real reason for my complaints are I have to pay for the game again even though I have sunk +$120 into it. It makes me feel like I've wasted my time and progress. It's a small thought as my progress still carries over to Next Gen but all the same. I doubt people complaining about Last Gen being left behind is for the entire platform as well. Sure it's sad to see it go but it's still around just not in as much support as it used to be while the next best thing is on the newer Tech as it had always been. Though I could be wrong about the issue
-
Ok if your on old gen what was the last new game you purchased for it? I'm not start sh.it I'm just curious. I was like you, I upgraded because nothing was getting released and some of my games (gta5) werent working. I was pissed I had to get destiny again but that was also an issue I had to face with gta5, battlefield and others. It not like it's just bungie but ppl make it seem as if this is the only game they had to repurchase.
-
Destiny would be my latest sink into my 360 (excluding the free games and little DLC I buy from time to time). And yes I do agree with you about the other games but since this is the Destiny forums, people are more than likely complain about Destiny, though I will agree anything you have to rebu for Next Gen when you already have a copy on Last Gen is frustrating
-
I agree, I was perfectly fine with my 360. I only switched because I knew the day would come when it becomes obsolete. And yes, Bungie should have at least finished year one for the last gen users, but my post is just to help make the best of a bad situation
-
Atleast you understand that unlike the Elitist jacka**es I've been seeing as of late. I thank you for understanding (and trying to show ways for this to seem better) and it feels sad that I have to thank you for not being a douche... What has this world come to?

*Year Three.

True, I meant Destiny one
