Ubisoft has already announced some of the changes, and I saw an uptick in players coming back to the game. Long story short, Massive is making a lot of the same mistakes----and doubling down on others-----that Bungie made with early Destiny's end-game. 1. Too much RNG 2. Stingy loot system. 3. Arbitrary progression walls. 4. Using access to loot as a means of controlling the player, and pressuring them into playing certain parts of the game. Add to this an end-game PVE event ("Falcon Lost" Incursion) that was a total flop....and you have a game that is in a lot of trouble right now. The game released with a end-game loot system that ignored allt he things it did right in the base game....so was broken. But it had a crafting system that worked well However, Massive got panicky that people were leveling up too fast with it....so in patch 1.1 they absolutely GLASSED the crafting system....but didn't bother to really fix the loot system. So the game has been---for the last month----a painful grind that goes nowhere fast as far as loot goes. It takes about 6-8 hours of game play to find/craft/buy one item that is better than you currently have equipped. ...and people are leaving the game because they've gotten tired of it....and Massive knows that this is their last chance to save this game.
