Gun in the country: Tool Gun in the city: Murder weapon

>takes incredibly complex issue >ignores that there are hundreds of possible positions on the topic > brings it down to a yes/no poll

Give those -blam!-ers out in the streets. Let mayhem ensue.

1 commentairePart of buying a gun should be getting a minimum score on a series of targets. If you can't hit the broad side of a barn theyll just give you a stick.

1 commentaireModifié par Masque of Night : 3/11/2016 9:18:49 PMI personally advocate the right of a legal citizen with no criminal record or history of mental illness to be able to purchase and own a firearm at their leisure, if it's within their ability to afford. I understand that not everyone will agree with me, but it's what I think is appropriate.

If ordinary people means people who won't kill over bs, then sure. Yeah
-
1 commentaireI believe that owning a pistol shotgun or hunting rifle is fair and part of our rights but owning a weapon that would be more appropriate in a warzone isn't as necessary. After all you'd be defending yourself from a burglar or hunting with the above listed weapons not keeping the Soviets or -godwinslaw!- out of your house like in WW2
-
4 commentairesI guess that the answer depends on what someone thinks of "ordinary people". Are "ordinary people" reasonable? Are "ordinary people" trustworthy? Are "ordinary people" capable of making rational decisions? Are "ordinary people" capable of running their own lives? Or should "ordinary people" be mistrusted, restricted and controlled in their choices and decisions? And lastly, does the person who is being asked think that they are "ordinary people" or that they are different, superior or otherwise capable of telling those "ordinary people" how they should act, choose or otherwise run their own lives?

Is this an American Gun Laws thread? If so, YES! In every developed country every ordinary persons aloud a gun, just they need tests to have one.
-
1 commentaireFor the most part yes, but only after careful testing, and having atleast an annual evaluation on your mental state.
-
8 commentairesModifié par Seldser : 3/11/2016 9:28:02 PMafter rigorous mental evaluations, maybe. even then, perhaps storage being limited to privately owned hunting cabins or the owner should be subject to additional yearly reviews. automatic weapons should be banned from public ownership outright, with only hunting weapons and possibly small caliber handguns. concealed carry should also be abolished. Edit: government run weapon storage facilities could also be an idea, in which checkpoints are set up at the entrances to specified hunting grounds where a hunter would retrieve a weapon upon entry to the location and be required to return it upon leaving edit 2: not surprised this was disliked. I have no issue with you disagreeing with me, but I would like to know your opinion, so please respond below in a respectful manner

For self-defense, btw Ireland's probably one of the lesser armed countries in the world.
-
No because we live in America and then some -blam!-ed up white kid shoots up a school
-
5 commentairesCivilians should only be allowed handguns
-
That's a stupid question
-
10 commentairesI can't believe so many people are voting yes.

If by ordinary you mean rational and with a sound mind? Yes.
-
Only I should be allowed to have guns. Then I can shoot whoever I like without fear of them returning fire.
-
7 commentairesRifles and handguns yes, assault rifles and artillery? No.
-
Only after passing a common sense test.
-
Guns? Yes. A -blam!-ing M4? Oh hell no! Why would you even need/want that?!
-
no, because ordinary tasks don't require guns.
guns are dangerous
-
Modifié par Moon Made Waves : 3/11/2016 9:51:23 PMMandatory safety class for all. Mental evaluation for assault rifles. Registration, waiting period and backround checks for all. If your gun is used in a crime without your knowledge and/or permission .. STIFF PENALTIES.

1 commentaireI say that people should be required to take gun safety classes. That'll solve a lot of problems.
