Destiny saved me
I'm now an Army vet, but this entire past year Destiny has been there to help me through everything. Even with all the problems, gripes, and issues with the game, it's allowed me to focus all my energy into something.
When the game first came out a year ago, I was having a really hard time with my life. I was still dealing with some issues from my deployment, I was getting a medical discharge, and at the same going through a divorce. The game allowed me to just sink all my time into it and focus on something else for a little while. I could finally get my mind off all the things that were going wrong, and just enjoy myself. And then my transition back into civilian life came.
At this stage, things were getting a little better, but my nerves were still shot. I'd always hear people talking about how going from the military to a civilian was a weird, and more often than not a hard, transition. I'd never thought that would be true for me. Until I went through it myself. If you've never been in the military, it's very hard for someone like me to connect with you. We've had so many different experiences, different life styles, different types of friends. But Destiny allowed me to find a way to open a path to talk with old friends and even make new ones.
All in all, I really just want to say thank you to the Destiny community, and Bungie. You guys have been so great, and Bungie you've got a great game, even though it has its flaws, it still has great potential. You all have helped me deal with the struggles in my life, and for that, thank you.
EDIT: Thank you guys for all the support! This is why I love this community. Everyone can all come together. You guys are all great! I hope everyone has a good year 2, in game, and in your lives!

1 commentaire1. Thank you so much for your service! 2. As cheesy as it is, Destiny saved me as well. I had a bad episode of depression last year and this game kept my mind off of suicidal thoughts. (Anyone who thinks I am lying can go -blam!- themselves!) anyway, after focusing so much on the game, things around me had gotten better to the point where I was able to enjoy life again.

2 commentairesAs a fellow army vet, Army Pride Hooah!! Transition can be hard for some, weird for others and also nerve wrecking, served 3 years in the regular army and then 7 in the reserves, so I know how you feel, awesome that you found destiny to have relief with life's stresses and connecting with new people, after I was discharged I received treatment from the VA, the video game that I started to love was Star Trek online since I'm also a Trekkie. My doc would always say go home and play some Star Trek! So as a fellow vet, I'm glad you found something to help you.

Regardless, you have my respects and I'm glad that you were also able to find something to put your focus towards.
