Any long time players feel obsolete?
So I'm a day one player and the closer TTK gets the more I'm becoming withdrawn from destiny. I feel as if I'm becoming a brand new player once again. Everything I did in year one doesn't really matter anymore. Call me an elitist if you want but isn't the reason we played so much was for new gear. I though I wouldn't care about year 1 gear being obsolete but turns out I do. I can't even wear my favorite class items anymore unless I want a lower light level. Anyone one that comes into destiny now will be on the same level with someone who played from day 1 and put hundreds of hours into this game. I preordered the CE of TTK and starting to debate getting a refund and letting destiny go. I always defended this game and hated on "I quit" post but it might be my time. I just don't want to start over.

I've gone from "I'm buying TTK for sure" to "I'll wait to buy it for a few weeks after it comes out". Then last week's update came out and now I don't know when I'll play destiny again, let alone get TTK.

1 commentaireIts not just about the gear and leveling. They may reach the same level as us but they can never share the memories we have made. The loot cave. Glitches. Shoving bosses off edges. Epic fails. Heroic moments. Gut wrenching defeats. Huge triumphs. Let them catch my level. They will not understand what i have seen and accomplished.

I don't agree, I feel that the LFG standards just got raised and elitism is at an all-time high in Destiny. Which is where the Destiny Vets cash in.

I like the feeling of being new again. It means I won't just feel like it's lame extra content I won't touch too much because I've already got everything I need. Also, if you don't think the new raid gear looks good I have no clue what to even say to you.

I stopped playing the game months ago and i care even less now that ESO has my attention. Destiny's community is also toxic and extremely entitled, without bringing up the fact that there's more hand holding with each iteration. Some dude with tentacles on his face practically giving away the best gear in the game. Lol I might stop completely if TTK isn't substantial.

Feeling the same, I am attached to my gear and why shouldn't I be? They say they want us to become legend and to play the game we want to play. They want us to make our Guardian look the way we want and for it to represent how we play the game and what we love. They even add in an "infuse" feature that lets you "bring our gear forward" with us so we can be who we want. That entire sentiment is a colossal loogie in the face when in fact they're doing the exact OPPOSITE of that by phasing out all of the gear we have now. I didn't grind my ass off for the perfect set of Crota raid gear so I could look like a demonic super villain and keep my day one Zombie Apocalypse heavy for nothing, I did it because I love them and they're a part of who I want to be in Destiny. Sure I want new stuff but I want to have a nice mix of the old that I love and new, it's stupid as all hell that they're trying to front like they want us to have choice when they're robbing us of it as we speak.

Yr1 players start with better gear and more knowledge of the mechanics in destiny. I wouldn't say we are starting over just upgrading and moving forward. I think I would be bored if I used the same guns over and over for the next few years.

It's going to be like the aftermath of TDB all over again, everyone looking exactly the same. I thought they were heading in a better direction in HoW with Etheric Light, but they disappointed us again with completely dropping that great idea. I haven't burnt myself out yet, so don't fūck this year up, Bungie. Edit: Spelling errors

Complaining about losing gear which we've known is the case for awhile now. Just enjoy this year like you did last year! New adventures, new friends, new ways to prove how "elite" you are. And complaining isn't one of those ways. Keep your old gear. And show off every once in awhile!

Why would you want to keep all the same gear? And why does it even matter how fast new players hit cap? I don't get your problem.

I don't like the direction they are taking the game. I play still but not much and since 2.0 it won't be enough time to warrent buying the DLC. HOW split up my old raid team anyway. I did love this game though and year one gave me some epic times! I don't hate it and would advise new players to get it. They just have not gave myself a new incentive to jump in the grind again. I don't think trying to make new weapons more appealing by making old weapons terrible was the way to do it.

I feel you, after 2.0 I feel like I've gone down in power somehow. But I guess that's to be expected since it really is a fresh start for year 2. The only thing we take from year 1 is memories and experience. I do hate how our vanity piece for each character is now affecting our light level, I liked wearing certain bonds, marks and cloaks but now I can't choose based on design. They should have amped up the light from raid vanity pieces so they are atleast competitive for the start of the ttk story.

I was a beta player on the 360, and I had absolutely nothing wrong with the game. However, my Xbox live expired back in January, and I never really got around to renewing it, so I haven't played in about nine months. In my leave of absence I've experimented with other games: PC (or what few games my laptop could run) and Nintendo (mh4u is pretty amazing, I must say) mainly. I'll be honest though, none of it really effected me like good old fashion fps games like destiny that got me hooked on gaming in the first place. So this week, I'm finally moving up in the world and getting a One, and I must say, I've been catching up on my destiny in anticipation for TTK (which comes out on my birthday (big 18 whoop whoop)), and I honestly can't wait to get back into this incredible game. You'd be surprised how much this game has evolved since January. Sure I haven't played it yet, but from the eyes of a player who hasn't seen a thing since the dark below was still fresh and new, I'm fangirling almost as badly as I was during the beta.

If they had kept vault space where it was; I would have felt strange. But they doubled it, and that will help veteran players a lot. You don't have to dismantle your awesome equipment.

Every big expansion levels the playing field to an extent. It's good for casual morale and the hardcore players still have a leg up with gear and skill. If Destiny was a huge slog to 40 for new players, it would turn a lot of people off and also diminish the overall pool of players to recruit for endgame content. It's pretty much just like an MMO, but on a smaller scale.

But you've had the journey that they will never have. Don't worry so much about your old stuff, where would be the motivation be if you weren't chasing new gear?
