Personally I like the fact that year one weapons aren't carrying over, I also like that gear will be less detrimental to you reaching a certain level.
In every expansion based RPG (Sure it's not an mmo, but it is an rpg with expansions) this style of thing has to happen. If you make guns like fatebringer, vision, and other raid tier weapons early and they are super powerful where do you go after that progression wise? Just allow people to carry it throughout the game? No, because then what the hell was the point of making new raid weapons for the new raid, and if the new raid weapons suck compared to the last expansion, then why make a new raid at all. And if you truly want to make a better gun that people want to use then it will become ridiculous and you begin ramping at an uncontrollable rate meaning a whole lot of game design theory to combat it to create balance.
The problem with armor is that everything looks the same currently in destiny because of raid armor being "tops". Many people, me being one of them, wasn't happy with that. So bungie introduced etheric light to combat that, Which isn't inherently bad. But created the ability to be the best VERY easy. I reached "tops" In a week of HOW coming out. That is WAY too fast, which is why a lot of people felt burnt by HOW.
This progression system they are introducing is a welcome change. It's not "invalidating" your effort. You were validated with loot from that raid which allowed you to do the hard mode and be higher level in PvP to help with level advantage. This coming system Will be like a wheel, that will keep you coming back and enjoying the game.
Just my two cents
Let me know your thoughts. Open discussion is welcomed.
TL;DR
the lack of year one LEGENDARIES (not exotics) carrying over is a good thing. It will allow for a better game and is a more sound game design practice than what is currently implemented.
Chadogtha linked a post from Cosmo about the matter. I had seen this prior, But I am adding it incase anyone is "outraged"

5 commentairesI want to see some harder form of ascending. And maybe it only happens every once and a while, like once a month, there is an event for a week for a special item that upgrades year 1 items to year 2 level. And you can only get a certain amount. And it's a higher level event so its challenging.

1 commentaireAs much as I love my Fatebringer, I'll be ready to let it go. Can't wait to get my hands on an Omolon Stapler.

9 commentairesWhat level will we start at? I'm a 34 so does that mean my characters will be lv34 to start with or nah?
-
5 commentairesI want new shit, I like it.

5 commentairesConsider this... There was no ascending in TDB. Maybe ascension will be re-added in a different form in a later year two dlc? Just my idea
-
1 commentaireI like the idea but I hope they add the transmog thing were you get the perks but keep the looks

5 commentairesI'm fine with the armor and leveling change. I'm eager to get and use the new weapons too. But I still want to be able to use my TDYK and some other vanilla weapons! Interesting thing is, I don't care about the DLC weapons, but my vanilla ones.
-
2 commentairesIm still holding on to my year 1 guns, especially my exotics
-
1 commentaireI'll still keep my fatebringer and VoC and a few others,

2 commentairesI'm thrilled with the new path they are taking ! I will miss my vanilla weapons, but am ready for new horizons and challenges! And I am even more thrilled with the armor! I still have my favorite armor set from September, and now that light level will be based on exp. I can wear it! And I don't care how low my rare helms armor rating is.... I love it and will be wearing it for sure! I was a forever 29 back then wearing this armor haha! Check it out on my Titan!

2 commentairesWho wants to use the fate bringer forever i for one don't

1 commentaireI like it because for a loot game, not having loot to be excited over for the past 6 months does something to you...

5 commentairesWe should be allowed to chose. If Bungie makes new stuff more appealing, we will all switch on our own. If we are forced to switch, then what we switch to will probably be crap.

4 commentairesI'm personal fine with it. For all the people saying our weapons are obsolete now, they are not really. They are our stepping stones to get to the new better ones. I know I will still be using my fatebringer in the first few weeks because it's still a solid handcannon until I can find a replacement thaf does more damage. 2. I Unless the new damage cap is a lot more than now, 365 weapons will not be obsolete at all. Look at the number of people using fatebringer during the dark below even tho it was 300.

2 commentairesYou try to back up your argumentations with wrong facts. There are mmorpgs where my gear doesn't get irrelevant. For example TESO. I wear the same set since level 20. As for Destiny, it is way too soon to make gear irrelevant.
-
1 commentaireI know I don't want to be using the same exact load out another year in a row
-
1 commentaireI can have a high impact PR with elemental damage on it, aka messenger-2.0, I am totally OK with it.

3 commentairesModifié par Matt Boy52 : 8/4/2015 7:17:22 PMI'm only sad about Fatebringer. But screw it, I'll still use it along with the new stuff, I don't care if I'm at a slight disadvantage, it's perks are just too good. What I think though to please the people wanting change and those who want ascension, is the option to take just ONE Legendary weapon with you all thoughout. That way you have to choose your absolute favorite weapon to take, but in turn still have to use all the other new stuff.

7 commentairesOr you could just be innovative and creat weapons that are on par with vault weapons and year one exotics. Then people might actually use them.
