What’s the stupidest way you’ve killed yourself?
I put up a post recently about the fact that even level 30’s can do stupid things. I had so many comments from people saying about the stupid things they’d done, I thought I’d put up a separate post. Here’s just one example of something I’ve done.
I started as a hunter and only had one character for ages. My wife wanted to try Destiny so she started a titan. I was helping her get her level up and went into the crucible to get some bounties. I saw a whole team claiming a zone in control and thought to myself “bingo! I’ve waited a long time to do this. These guys aren’t going to know what hit them”. As I wasn’t experience using a titan, I didn’t realise that if you’re sprinting your special launches you a lot further. I went straight over the top of all of them, smashed down the other side and got shot in the back by all 6 of them :p
edit: I normally try to respond to all of the comments if I put up a post, but there have been so many I'm struggling to keep up. Keep them coming they're priceless. It's nice to see people making fun of themselves, rather than taking the game so seriously

I was wearing Insurmountable Skullfort, so Shoulder Charge kills would activate Transfusion for me. We both decided to shoulder charge the same Thrall. I hit the Thrall, she hit me. I watched the third person view, as my Titan was thrown twenty feet away facefirst into a rock. 'Till death do us part? I've also been home-run slammed by a Phalanx more times than I'd like to admit. One time actually sent me so high into the air so fast, the deathcam couldn't move fast enough to track my body into orbit. Warsat event came in on the moon, I was like "Oh yay, an event. Where's it gonna be at." I looked up, saw the debris raining down towards me, and was like "Oh son of a-" *BOOM* I died Wizard of Oz style, my feet sticking out beneath the Warsat. Had an Atheon rocket launcher blooper reel. Shot a rocket inside of the Aegis bubble, blew myself up because it hit a teammate. Second time, I stuck myself in front of everyone else, shot again, and it blew up against the bubble. Third time, I was like "SCREW THE BUBBLE" stayed outside, fired, and a friggin Supplicant dove in front of me like "No, not Master Atheon!" And that's the story of how I vowed to never use rocket launchers again.

In the lunar complex on patrol and decided to wipe that little command room all the fallen hang out in with my rocket launcher. Scope in, get the beeps for lock, pull the trigger... and die. Why? Apparently there was a box that while not in my scope was in the way of my barrel. Instead of looking cool and satisfactorily blowing a room of fallen to kingdom come, I look like a moron and kill no one but myself. Sad Guardian was Sad.

forgot I had skip rounds on my light of the abyss and popped a bubble, then bam! right back at cha!!Lmmfao we all had a good laugh after they asked how I died haha

Fighting the templar, he just spawned in and my friend took the shiled down, im on the stairs near relic and i shoot a rocket as a harpy flies in front and i blow myself up

Being warped to Venus on VoG hard I pull out the GHorn to shoot in the middle, do a double jump before I shoot so I don't hit a teammate (again), and an Oracle spawns right as I shoot. Instant death. Another time I have the relic and my team was falling behind shooting the oracles, I jump up with the relic to help hit the oracles and completely miss propelling me off the side. Luckily it was during a time when the game was glitching and the portal wasn't opening so we weren't going anywhere anyway.

Getting killed by your own rocket by the unexpected force field you get trap in, when you break the Templars shield in hard raid. x-x

well my stupidest death happened last night, in fact... we were running the hard raid. during the second wave of confluxes me and another guy covered the right side. teammate throws down a bubble with weapons of light. i get my buff, then go back closer to the conflux. we start to get overwhelmed and two guys begin to sacrifice. i switch to truth, jump backwards, and shoot my rocket in mid-air...while i'm beginning to unknowingly pass through into the bubble...the rocket went right into the very edge of the bubble shield. death. i really thought it was a bit further back...

Aiming down the sights of my icebreaker, shooting at Atheon, while on center platform. My controller's left thumb stick is stuck forward and I walk right off the edge....

I was doing the Nightfall, solo, on the Archon priest. I was in the cheese spot, underneath the deck. The Archon priest has about 25% health left. I see some shanks outside, and since they have solar shields, I thought my grenade would be a great idea. (I'm a gunslinging hunter with trip mine). I throw my grenade right at the shanks, but It sticks to the grate, and the shanks somehow hit it with their shots, blowing up the grenade, directly in my face. I did and go to orbit.

forgetting that self rez during hard raid doesn't give me radiant skin like in crucible and then dying again during radiance =(

In my tumbler hit a jump that sent me flying did a bunch of flips and landed on my neck and blew TF up

Just this part weekend. I was driving my sparrow through the cosmodrome. I happened to come up to a couple dregs and a captain. I figured I would speed right through them. since I was on my way to catch the next event. As I got closer all of them started shooting and eventually blew up my bike which then sent me flying into the side of a rock. Suicide by splatter...

I waited a few seconds and didn't see the detain shield so I took out my truth and proceeded to shoot a rocket. Then it came up at the last second and I blew my self up. We were all gathered at the same place so the whole team saw it and rofl And when I was still a raid noob I didn't know you couldn't shoot rockets out of the relic shield, you can guess what happened. [spoiler]i died[/spoiler]

I haven't seen or read this anywhere else yet so it must be a special type of stupid. I tried launching my titan smash (death from above) at some Yellow bar cabal. I hit a wall/block thing instead and killed myself. ?? ? Was like (O__o). I did get the guy though.

Nightfall Strike with Valus Ta'aurc. Last guardian standing, Valus is at half. I throw my tripmine grenade at a psion and I end up getting blown up in the process.

Nightfall this week, against the nexus. Last guardian standing, nexus is almost dead, just need one or two more shots. I'm behind a wall, poking my head out every ten seconds to kill the never ending swarm of goblins that keep spawning, hoping I can clear them out just long enough to fire of a shot or two and take him down. Teammates: "Just don't die!" Me: "Trust me, I'm okay." Throw a grenade to clear out the mobs but hit the wall right in front of me, die in a fiery explosion.

When I got overly excited driving into the VOG on my sparrow telling some new guys to "Follow me!" and drove straight off that first cliff. Of course they all were following me closely so they all drove off right behind me. Luckily one guy was smart enough to just stand by and watch lol

1 commentaireHitting the rocket trigger just as someone walks in front of me, or a mob jumps/teleports in close. Playing VoG for the first time, I jumped and hovered right past the middle pad, into the abyss.
