Edit 4:
Again, this thread has nothing to do with farming. It has to do with the terrible loot system in place of killing low level enemies and the morality of how you feel when you receive something good from standing around doing nothing.

The problem is that the reward system isn't rewarding. You can do 19 strikes in about 3 hours on level 24, maybe longer. You will more than likely get shit experience, blues that are inferior to your level, and the same chance of receiving rares or legendary engrams than the lower level strike before it.
This is exactly like Diablo 3. How? The more enemies you kill, the faster you sift through RNG to get better chances at gear. And even then, you are -blam!-ed out of it. And even then d3 does it better.
People want to argue that Nightfall is the solution. No, not at all. Vanguard rep grinding is a longer term solution. Same with crucible.
Dungeons should reward you according to the time, effort, and necessity involved with getting to the next level of play. I should not have had to spam moon missions to get my legendaries, or abuse blue engrams farming to get strange coins.
Implement a rewarding system that gets you the gear necessary for raids and missions. Make the missions difficult to reward tiered loot, end game gear that don't drop anywhere else. Provide higher experience rates from strikes and PvP. Reward positive win streaks and kills with higher chance for rewards to induce smarter plays.
Until this happens, I'm going back to the moon.

20+ years of MMO experience and you can't see that farming level 3 mobs for level 20 gear is a broken system? I can't think of a single game where that type of farming is rewarding except for Destiny. Most games encourage you into going to high level areas for better drop rates and to farm those areas for end game gear.
The fact that Destiny is the same drop rate for every level monster is what's breaking the loot system not the fact that people are farming. Not really sure how people don't understand this.
The devs did not intend for people to be earning gear in this fashion end of story. Will you get in trouble? No. Are you cheating? Only yourself.
By gearing like this, you are skipping the actual gear curve and content. All that is gameplay you are missing out on, just to stand in one spot, and squeeze the trigger over and over and over again. Monotonous. Boring.
So have at it, grind the cave. You'll be bored in no time and complaining that there is nothing to do and that you have all the loot already. What's the point of playing?
Edit:
Farming for loot to use as 20+ by killing low level monsters that people who just started the game can kill. You shouldn't even be able to get loot for your level from low level enemies. Sure you can still farm I'm okay with farming, as long as you actually have to kill monsters that are close to your level or higher to get better loot.
Drops should go hand in hand with the level of monster you are killing. As your level goes up, so should the source of better gear.

He didn't say you're cheaters, only that you're cheating yourself out of a good experience.
You're cheating yourself out of the little jolt of happiness that you get after doing missions and strikes and finally seeing that purple little orb drop onto the floor.
You're cheating yourself out of the feeling of knowing that all the items in your inventory was earned and for some items you may even remember the raid or mission or strike that you got it from.
I will agree with him, I honestly couldn't give a shit about farming. You do as you please, but please don't ruin this game when you come back screaming because your experience in this game was meaningless and when you have no real connection with the items you carry.
I'll be crushing the faces of Darkness underneath my boot.
Second edit: since a majority of you coming in here keep spouting the same nonsense, just know, us who don't cave farm know that deep down inside you feel dirty doing this.
Third edit: just because there isn't an economy in this game doesn't mean that there isn't events coming up that the cave farmers will completely destroy everybody. Exploiting this method, even if you don't get exotics off of it is still giving you 800 exp per minute, allowing you to fully upgrade nearly everything in a few hours time. I've said it before, have fun cutting your experience short.

Why does anyone care how other people get their gear in this game? Just play your own game and get on with your lives. Iron banner is hardly going to matter what gear you have when a fusion rifle is 1 shot kill anyways. Quit moaning. People said before the game was released that there should be separate pvp characters. They didn't listen so we have this system of all gear for all game modes. I've had better drops and gear from heroic strikes but these combat areas are fun when you are sick to death repeating the same minimalistic content over and over.
-
Mind your business. If it's not directly affecting you or your enjoyment of the game, quit crying.
-
"Stay in your lane" Read that and re read it. If you spend time worrying about what other people do, you are doing wrong. Especially if it has nothing to do with you.
-
i got the multitool from a leg engram and i honestly couldnt tell you where i got it. i dont have a romantic connection to my loot. all i know is i have it. and you dont. im ranked #1. ONE. that means im the best.

I'm sorry but in a game where the amount of playtime you have means nothing and there is no way to level past 20 unless your lucky enough to get a legendary engram and then further lucky enough to decode it into a piece of legendary gear that might or might not be for your character this farming is very much needed. The game leveling system is a pathetic excuse at trying to be something they are not. What is really sad is little crybabys like the OP who already farmed out his gear and he is probably a high level and doesn't want anyone getting to his precious level. I wish all you pathetic children crying about loot farming would just shut up already. They are aware of the cave, they will patch it if its abig enough problem. Now shut up about it, you got your gear by farming let everyone else. Its not like this is a MMO where others are being affected, this is just a FPS with a broken loot system. Nothing like getting purples from level 4 enemies and nothing from a level 20-24 boss. This game was ruined when it was still being thought of. The idea that you could play for 2 months getting to level 28 with gear then here I come in 2 days and I am level 28 all because of luck and random drops. This game is broken, I suggest to everyone farm away before they make it to where you get green drops for doing that level 26 raid lol.
-
Fully upgrade everything in a few hours? Lol, you coudn't be more clueless, could ya? Also, it's NOT an exploit numbnuts.

3 commentairesI played for 1 day 17 hours total time, before finally getting a legendary+ item. I was stalled on level 24 for over a week of gameplay. Unable to efficiently participate in the Raid, or Nightfall strikes, because the Cryptarch would not award me higher level gear (cryptarch level >6). Those of you who are lamenting players who use this farming technique by saying that we are 'ruining the experience' by getting better gear... I ask you only one question... How would you rate your experience in playing this game for almost 48 total hours and not being able to participate in level-driven events, simply because you aren't as lucky as other players (who don't grind, aren't good team mates, or go AFK during crucible) when it comes to cashing in engrams? Get over it!
-
Modifié par Tikalto : 9/22/2014 11:05:28 AMWhat do you have to say about someone like me, who was fully geared. Legendary helm, pants, arms and shotgun. exotic chest pulse rifle and fusion rifle? I am literally at the gear curve. I can not get any better. All before I even heard about the farming.

1 commentaireHow I feel about cave farming: I don't give a ~Blam!~. If that's what you enjoy doing, go ahead, but I'll be doing high level missions, bounties, improving my ranks, gathering marks, strange coins, resources and any other currency to be used in game to get: guaranteed legendary armor (without sitting in the same place for hours being bored). And, I promise, by the end of the month, cave farmers are absolutely not going to have better gear than even the armor I have on right now. And I'm going to have the added benefit of being able to specifically pick the added abilities and buffs for my equipment which I feel will benefit my game play the most, rather than trying to rely on chance drops for those minor things which can go a long ways. So, if you are going to sit around a cave with your one finger on the trigger and the other up you ~Blam!~, then, please, be my guest. To the rest of you who keep complaining about farming, just show them up and let it go.

1 commentaireThe only reason I do take cave is to get Motes of Light from rare engrams. If a legendary engram drops, yay. It's not like I'll get a legendary from it, seeing how my luck is so bad, I might as well have broken 8382 mirrors in my lifetime. The reason I'm trying to get Motes of Light is because I spent 25 of them on a bond from the Speaker, and THEN realized I wanted an exotic engram from Xur. And since my luck is horrible, I feel as though buying my exotics is the only way to obtain them, so I'm farming to get 23 Motes of Light.

4 commentairesTo your spouts bout getting your level stuff off of enemies your level: Do you know how many places spawn level 20+ enemies where you can solo farm? No. Exactly cause there is only one on each planet and they don't respawn until you leave the area for a while. So getting level 20 gear would be basically impossible. And to your leveling gear incredibly quick: No matter the level you get the same xp for killing an enemy so higher level enemies give very little xp per kill and legendary and exotic gear take ages to level even with the lower level enemies. So learn how to farm before ranting about a system many people on console are new to.
-
Hey Wade, which MMO's have you played?
-
...Since you don't understand how farming is/works... Not even going to bother with you...
-
I played strike after strike in the playlist Friday for over an hour and walked away with about 8-10 blue engrams, I might of gotten a mote of light. Then earlier today I tried my hand at the cave for one hour, it was boring as sin but had 14 blues and 2 purples when I headed out. It turned out to be 4 strange coins and the zombie apocalypse, the rest was garbage. If loot is random and 1 in 70 kills results in a drop then why condemn those who maximize their time by going where the hunting is plentiful.
-
You'd don't have to farm the cave. So stfu and quit bitching about how ppl play their game. The cave is the fastest way to lvl up gear and sub classes and the cryptarch. On top of that you get a shit ton of weapons parts and metal plating for the your gear. So I'm not really sure why your telling ppl how to play the game.

If the devs cared so much don't you think they would have patched it by now especially after everyone's whining.
-
Modifié par JasonLeeJames : 9/22/2014 5:05:55 AMThey didn't intend? Then why have such RNG + fast spawns? The dark beyond is quite similar. And that was level design.

no fun bot

I feel no shame at all farming that cave. Go ahead and keep being butthurt about how others acquire loot. I love seeing butthurt players :)
-
1 commentaireIt's just engrams guys. Take a Dr. Mario pill... Sheesh.
-
It's bungie a fault. Random drops are just stupid. People do well in crucible and get nothing, people do strikes at high levels and get nothing. They do the cave and get good stuff. Explain why I should run through all the content countless times, to the point it becomes a chore when I can spend a much shorter amount of time doing the cave, and then doing missions/strikes with friends and have it fresher?
-
Easy solution... Reward risk. I do level 28 missions and can't even get a spin metal as reward, but if I shoot at a hole for 30 minutes, I get some blue engrams and possibly legendary. I can farm level 24 strikes for gear that isn't useful, and can't earn any more marks because they are capped. I can't queue for heroics But I can shoot that hole.
-
1 commentaireMy god shut up! Its part of the game! Replaying missions over and over again is the same as killing mobs over and over again! if it was a problem it would have been patched! There is no problem! many many mmo,s use this mechanic! People are still putting the same mount of time into killing mobs! Please shut up about this! Its part of the game! now pit your dummy back in and go to sleep!

If this whole cave farming thing is bothering you as much as you seem to let on, I mean if it is really getting under your skin that bad that you feel the need to continually rant about how other folks decide to utilize their free time then you might consider seeking help my man. Go farm your crucible/vanguard marks. Let them farm their engrams. Move the -blam!- on.
