Edit 4:
Again, this thread has nothing to do with farming. It has to do with the terrible loot system in place of killing low level enemies and the morality of how you feel when you receive something good from standing around doing nothing.

The problem is that the reward system isn't rewarding. You can do 19 strikes in about 3 hours on level 24, maybe longer. You will more than likely get shit experience, blues that are inferior to your level, and the same chance of receiving rares or legendary engrams than the lower level strike before it.
This is exactly like Diablo 3. How? The more enemies you kill, the faster you sift through RNG to get better chances at gear. And even then, you are -blam!-ed out of it. And even then d3 does it better.
People want to argue that Nightfall is the solution. No, not at all. Vanguard rep grinding is a longer term solution. Same with crucible.
Dungeons should reward you according to the time, effort, and necessity involved with getting to the next level of play. I should not have had to spam moon missions to get my legendaries, or abuse blue engrams farming to get strange coins.
Implement a rewarding system that gets you the gear necessary for raids and missions. Make the missions difficult to reward tiered loot, end game gear that don't drop anywhere else. Provide higher experience rates from strikes and PvP. Reward positive win streaks and kills with higher chance for rewards to induce smarter plays.
Until this happens, I'm going back to the moon.

20+ years of MMO experience and you can't see that farming level 3 mobs for level 20 gear is a broken system? I can't think of a single game where that type of farming is rewarding except for Destiny. Most games encourage you into going to high level areas for better drop rates and to farm those areas for end game gear.
The fact that Destiny is the same drop rate for every level monster is what's breaking the loot system not the fact that people are farming. Not really sure how people don't understand this.
The devs did not intend for people to be earning gear in this fashion end of story. Will you get in trouble? No. Are you cheating? Only yourself.
By gearing like this, you are skipping the actual gear curve and content. All that is gameplay you are missing out on, just to stand in one spot, and squeeze the trigger over and over and over again. Monotonous. Boring.
So have at it, grind the cave. You'll be bored in no time and complaining that there is nothing to do and that you have all the loot already. What's the point of playing?
Edit:
Farming for loot to use as 20+ by killing low level monsters that people who just started the game can kill. You shouldn't even be able to get loot for your level from low level enemies. Sure you can still farm I'm okay with farming, as long as you actually have to kill monsters that are close to your level or higher to get better loot.
Drops should go hand in hand with the level of monster you are killing. As your level goes up, so should the source of better gear.

He didn't say you're cheaters, only that you're cheating yourself out of a good experience.
You're cheating yourself out of the little jolt of happiness that you get after doing missions and strikes and finally seeing that purple little orb drop onto the floor.
You're cheating yourself out of the feeling of knowing that all the items in your inventory was earned and for some items you may even remember the raid or mission or strike that you got it from.
I will agree with him, I honestly couldn't give a shit about farming. You do as you please, but please don't ruin this game when you come back screaming because your experience in this game was meaningless and when you have no real connection with the items you carry.
I'll be crushing the faces of Darkness underneath my boot.
Second edit: since a majority of you coming in here keep spouting the same nonsense, just know, us who don't cave farm know that deep down inside you feel dirty doing this.
Third edit: just because there isn't an economy in this game doesn't mean that there isn't events coming up that the cave farmers will completely destroy everybody. Exploiting this method, even if you don't get exotics off of it is still giving you 800 exp per minute, allowing you to fully upgrade nearly everything in a few hours time. I've said it before, have fun cutting your experience short.

I find myself in front of the loot cave racking up headshots occasionally. But I'm already level 28, I grind for legendaries so I can upgrade my current gear. Considering That's honestly the best way to get ascendant shards, because god forbid I get something besides ascendant energy from public events and the daily. I don't even know how long I've stood there nd shot away, but not once have I gotten Bored of it. Hell, I think is fun. I'm not cutting any of the game away from my self, or cheating in any way. I see it as no different than wandering around old Russia trying to find some damn spin metal. It's material grinding for me.
Tl;DR: I grind the cave for things to dismantle into ascendant shards to upgrade armour I got through other means nd I have fun doing it.
3 commentairesComplains about Cave farming...Cave farms himself (view his Patrol missions in Old Russia for proof)

3 commentairesWhat am I skipping exactly? The same 5 strikes that I've beaten at least 10 times apiece? I was doing strikes repeatedly and getting absolutely nothing. I hit vanguard rank 2 and bought 2 pieces of armour before I ever did the cave farming. I never found one legendary engram. The only times I've ever gotten anything of use is buying it, cave farming, or VoG. The only legendary items I haven't bought are a legendary MG, a legendary Shotgun, and both of those I got from the cave. Plus the MIDA that I got from VoG. So, yes I will farm the cave. I tried "playing the game properly" by doing strikes, but I got nothing useful. If I sat there doing strikes all day is probably still have green weapons.
-
Doing a 20 minute strike will land you just as many kills as farming any other place. The only advantage to strikes is you actually make progress towards guaranteed legendary gear through marks. I have not cave farmed a single time and currently have all legendary and up gear. Play the game however you want to and you will do just fine.
-
That's the whole point tho isn't it. The fact that higher level mobs don't drop better gear at a rate or consistency then lower level mobs is exactly why the cave farm is popular. Bungie needs to rethink the system.

Modifié par eddieoctane : 9/22/2014 4:25:47 PM"Have fun cutting your experience short." What experience? The story is so threadbare that it's pathetic. And once I got 26, the vanguard strikes ceased to be challenging. I wasn't deriving any enjoyment from the content I could actually play in the hear I had. So my options were to endlessly rerun the same instances in hopes is finally get a piece of equipment necessary to try something different or got the cave and know I'll get it in a fraction of the time. And the Hive/Fallen war is a lot more fun and dynamic than most of the game so far. I'm not cutting my experience short. The onus is on Bungie for not providing enough content to keep people engaged as they progress and for not implementing a lot system that encourages people to play the game as intended. In WoW, there are sweet loot tables. When I needed a specific piece of gear, I knew which dungeon to run to find it. I knew that after 3 or 4 runs, I'd probably have that sword or helmet or whatever. In Destiny, the only chance I have at an upgrade is to hope against hope that a legendary engram drops and that the Cryptarch won't hose me on it. Face it. We are getting content that requires a player to be above 26 to even stand a chance. The rate of progression is so show that farming is the only way most people can get ready for the raids. The other is just dumb luck, and that's not cutting it. No one should miss out on content because the RNG is utter garbage.

20 commentairesMy experience was cut short already by the nature of this pi$$ poor excuse for a game, at this point I just want to get the best gear possible and wreck you retards in the Crusible. Anyone who isnt let down by this PoS game should be round up and release into the vacuum of space.
-
1 commentaireOh look at me I'm a moral crusader and I want all the attention in the world.

Why are people making a big deal out of this? It's childish

1 commentaireDo you need some tissues ?

6 commentairesWell clearly you've never played an MMO lol

I use that to help me lvl my guns
-
3 commentairesI was introduced to the cave yesterday after beating the raid. I have to say that I can see Bungie patching it but, after a while of farming, a full on war breaks out and you start getting bum rushed by higher level enemies, Wizards etc. Which is by far the most intense thing I've experienced whilst patrolling earth.
-
5 commentaireslol, your chances of loot are much higher if you kill all the spawning enemies in that area rather than sit and shoot 3 enemies at a time spawning in a cave.... so what's the problem man?!? this is an mmo, people farm loot, welcome to the game and start farming wherever you choose, let everyone else decide for themselves
-
Reguardless if you are farming the cave or doing strikes over and over, It's all a form of farming. To think your gear(or you) are better because of how you got the item is a joke.

2 commentairesStfu console kid.

24 commentairesIt's none of your concern how I choose to play. If I want to farm, then it's none of your damn business.
-
1 commentaire
The devs did not intend for people
I'll stop you right there. If the devs intended for people to earn their loot the proper way they wouldn't have -blam!-ed up royally on the reward system.
-
I'm going to farm the cave starting tomorrow just to purposely piss off more people on this forum.
-
Maybe if I didn't get such shit from the Cryptarch I wouldn't have to farm...
-
I'm already running out if things to do, regardless of the loot cave.

28 commentairesI don't know how many here have played a true mmo before like wow and ffxiv, (since Destiny is more of a psuedo mmo), but farming is something everybody does. I've been farming certain dungeons in ffxiv because there is specific loot there that I either need, or can trade in for currency. I'm not entirely sure where the farming hate is coming from, but it's been around forever.
-
4 commentairesI'll tell you what. If you give me back the $60 I payed for Destiny then I will play it the way you want. Until then you can keep your opinions to yourself.

Farming the Cave makes me feel great. I see a little purple orb drop on the ground and it makes me all giddy. I can't wait to do it again tonight. I've made It to right up to last boss in the vault. I've farmed strikes and done the daily and weekly. I've leveled up vanguard and working on another faction. I've obtained a good amount of loot doing both. I've farmed Mars and Moon for materials. Now I'm looking for upgrades, and the Cave is a good spot. It allows me to obtain legendary gear to break down for ascendant materials to upgrade past those last few ranks. So no I don't feel dirty farming the cave.
