Hear me out:
Destiny 2 has no dedicated servers, an outdated engine, is poorly optimized, there are thousands of unused assets in the game taking up way more space than they need to, and there's so much padding within the game it's ridiculous.
Beyond Light might be a turning point for the game overall, but without sweeping changes to some of the underlying problems like enemy balancing, pvp adjustments, separation of PvP and PvE sandboxes and maybe bridging the gap with some kinda Gambit update, or even the issue of sunsetting items.
I get that it might be a monumental task, but if we're being honest, the only reason they didn't put any resources into a D3 is because they couldn't monetize it, what with Destiny 2 being f2p.
An engine change is something this game drastically needs. For god's sake the game plays entirely different on PC than it does on Console PURELY because of FPS rates(Call of Duty, meanwhile, does not have this problem).
Enemies and their races need dramatic overhauls(the Cabal are basically a non-issue until Calus' Daughter enters the mix again), and the Scorn don't have a reason to exist anymore.
It would've just allowed them to DO more is what I'm saying. They could better streamline the process for New Light players, or even fix progression issues with XP and the like.
Edit 1:
"New Game = New Engine? No, stupid." - Listen, I get your points, but it was a suggestion. This was posted in the "feedback" section for a reason.
Edit 2:
"Vault Bombing? Really?" - Not necessarily. Exotics have lost the meaning of their strength in Destiny 2. In D1 they were almost always game-breaking in terms of what they were capable of, and completely changed gameplay. In D2 they're nothing more than a convenience(or necessity in the case of Eriana's Vow) that you can slot into your gear under the pretense that you don't NEED anymore seasonal modded items. Bungie's biggest problem was making Pinnacle weapons Legendary and not Exotic.
