The sunsinger subclass got it's strength from its grenades and melees, and you utterly destroyed that. Their super is so situational it can be considered mediocre
Firebolts: Firebolts weren't OP, people just assumed they were OP because everyone just followed what datto and other youtubers/streamers said. Firebolts (DoT in general) isn't OP, the only reason it felt OP is because it was a slow and agonizing death. What people failed to realize that DoT did the damage over time instead of instantaneously, if I were to chunk a flashbang/skip grenade/lightning grenade at you before an encounter you would die instantly once I land my shot and the grenades tag/pop. Where as the firebolts killed you over time, the DoT gave you a chance to retaliate and kill you opponent if by any chance they couldn't land two/three shots in succession. This is another reason people felt it was OP because they felt like they shouldn't die after winning a gun fight, but they fail to understand that if that was any other grenade they wouldn't have a chance to kill you in the first place. And I'm pretty sure streamers felt it was OP because firebolts were one of the best counter measures to their favorite play style;;chill in the back with a sniper.
If someone kills you with three shots from hawkmoon, you say "well at least i wasnt two shot" and you move on. But if someone hits you three times with a dot, and you die 4 seconds later, you lose your shit
- Natmos The Great
Another reason why people complained about firebolts was "it kept you out of the fight for x amount of seconds."Although true, you still have a chance to recover and get back in the fight, usually whenever I would get tagged by a fb I would run back and my teammates would cover me, I'd get my health back and everything would be dandy. Whereas if I was to tag you with tripmine/sticky/incendiary grenade you'd be out the fight for good until your teammates could res you. One thing you couldv'e done bungie was increase the damage per tick but reduce the amount of ticks, that way it'll do the same amount of damage but in less time.
Flame shield: The flame shield would already only sometimes proc, now with the .3 second delay you made it to where the SS would lose all melee encounters, since they have the slowest melee in the game. The flame shield wasn't even all that strong after the april update, if a titan was to land the first punch in an encounter the SS would either lose or trade in that fight. The only class that couldn't win in a melee fight even if they landed the first punch was a hunter, which honestly in my opinion was fine since hunters were the fastest/nimblest little creatures. They shouldn't have power and speed. What people didn't realize that if you would use the sealed arhamkars grasp you could beat a warlock in a melee fight because you'd have two blink strikes instead of one. People also complained about, "you get a shield without having to get a kill," like really? I have to get in slapping distance in order to hit you, just back up and shoot me if you see a warlock coming at you. Simple. People fail to realize that titans also have the juggernaut shield, which is extremely fun to use by the way. You don't even have to get within slapping distance with it, just run in a small circle and you good.
Your explanation for the nerf was priceless,
Sunsingers, while not out performing other classes, are still creating frustrating encounters
Basically you're saying that SS weren't out performing other classes, but because people were complaining and crying you decided to nerf them. You know what is outperforming things and creating frustrating encounters bungie? Snipers bungie, snipers. So with your logic I expect a sniper nerf. Just a simple one, nerf sniper movement speed/swap time/ ads sight, a similar nerf to what you did to shotguns.
Edit: Bungie, you should've just decreased the amount of ticks but increased the damage per tick, that way it did the same amount of damage but in less time. You also could've reduced the radius of it like you did. Simple. No delay of explosion or what not. The melee was fine after the april update honestly.

People with actual gun skill with have no trouble adapting to the changes though.
