Update: We did it everyone! The sniping mechanics are being touched up! Players stand more of a chance going against snipers now and the snipers take a bit more patience for their high reward/low risk way of playing! Credit goes to everyone who supported the cause!
As for the ones who didn't, it's better this way so enjoy it while you can!

1 commentaireI agree with the original poster and after reading all the coments in this post, here are my 2 cents. To all the people that defend sniping and say watch the videos...well I have watched too many videos of The Taken King sniping montages and you know what??? 90% of all headshots I have seen from these videos never come close to the head but still register as a headshot. It doesn't matter if the target is moving or standing still...90% should be obvious misses but unfortunately they register as headshots...WTF!!! Also what is BS about current sniping is when I'm hitting a sniper in the head with any primary of all impact and fire rates, some how they can still headshot me. I'm sorry but if you are getting pounded in the head by constant fire, how the F can a player without unflinching perk maintain the sight to headshot me...Because the system is broken, plain and simple. Side notes...vanilla destiny pvp was a blast and did not feel like cod. Destiny now feels more like cod than ever before and the most casual fun has been mayhem clash. Why the F is this mode not a permanent option to play?

Quick scoping, no scoping etc. Twitch and Trials really don't help matters but I guess the evolution of gaming means now it is a competitive franchise and a source of income instead of recreational fun. All the get good scrub posts are on their way way but consider this, if everyone was a try hard most of the try hards would not play as they do not like getting anihilated just like the rest of us. The casuals are slowly moving away from PVP as getting sniped 100 times a game just gets boring. It's a shame as Y1 it was just fun and there was a clear difference between Destiny PVP and other FPS.

Under Vanilla right throughout HoW, primary meta TTK sat between 0.3-0.5 secs (Holy Handcannon Trinity+Vex). Except for the Vex, these meta weapons also had godlike accuracy compared to now, just like they had endless range. When Thorn/Hawkmoon/TLW can melt a sniper on the whole map in under half a second, you can completely forget the hardscope shenanigans (be it in 10m hallways or across the map) and nobody will willingly try to run around using his sniper like a shotgun either. But suddenly we enter the era of the Taken King. In that DLC, Bungie tripled the meta primary TTK. Nowadays the meta weapons (ignoring the short ranged TLW) have a TTK of 0.8-1.1 secs. This encompasses Mida, DoP, every PR and every AR except for the Necrochasm. (I ignore HCs because they are unusable except for Thorn and TLW in the current state of the game. Thorn not being able to be used in leveled activities and having lost the ability to 2 tap while not having the range it once had isn't a good counter to snipers nonetheless) A TTK between 0.9-1.1 secs, means that every single sniper in the game can bodyshot you twice, before your primary is even theoretically able to kill the sniper. This includes the Spear and Spindle. Primaries simply don't have enough kill pressure and range to deal with sniper rifles in 10m long hallways or in duels across half of the map (which was previously possible with every single weapon category except for ARs). 2) The second issue is that other special weapons got depreciated so hard, that a TLW is better than any shotgun in the game and that you shouldn't even try to look at infusion rifles to do damage. TLW/Sniper is a better combo than Mida/shotgun for absolutely every encounter (if you aren't on the skill level of a blueberry ofc). TLDR: Primary TTK is way too high. Snipers have been conceived for an environment with a TTK between 0.3-0.6 secs and primaries with significant amounts of range. Sadly Bungie decided to go full out Leeroy Jenkins on primaries and gutted them so hard that a sniper rifle cannot be challenged with anything anymore, as primary TTK tripled to 0.9-1.1 secs. Well, except for another sniper rifle of course. Which created the current meta.

I think that the only problem with snipers is how much they flinch. I don't like how I will start shooting first, land a few headshots then get headshotted myself while they survive with a sliver of health.

In normal pvp i can take most snipers down with v.o.c ... Might get me 1 time and a bit harder if thay have no flinch on but the vision wrecks most snipers !

8 commentairesMy guess is they increase flinch when being shot. That would fix a lot of the issues that I currently have with snipers. They should remove short range scopes as well.

2 commentairesSnipers have always been dominant in trials. Since year one the majority of people playing trials, used a sniper. It's because it' is a sure way to keep your opponents down. Your argument is invalid due to you ignorant statement.

I just wish the response to things being unbalanced is buff the possible counters. It's just a much more fun gaming experience that way. I think they've gotten to that point - everything is pretty well balanced. Shotguns still too OP? Buff autorifles and handcannons. Snipers too OP? Boost flinch on scout rifles. That way it's more fun for the people who were getting their butts kicked, instead of less fun for people who used to be having fun.

Personally I've only used it a couple of times just because it's easier to accumulate that IB bounty of "x kills with special" with a sniper instead of a shotgun. But I think I had, what... 4 kills in the last few days with a sniper.
