Not everyone needs to be on the same page to understand that they might mean something different than what you think.
Context is a small part, but age group, where they lived when they grew up, economic background all play some part in how a person's language develops and instead of getting offended as the first thought maybe people could start thinking "we'll they grew up in a different time" or "they grew up somewhere that it was okay to use that language" or "why should I care what they say, they don't know me"
No that doesn't give people a free pass to say whatever they want with no accountability, but people should try not to talk offense as the initial reaction to someone and instead learn to brush off the small things in life. You got called a fag? So what, we all get insulted from time to time, if you can't handle it then you need to grow up.

In a country where a whole political party is still trying to take away rights from a specific group of people's, where the word is commonly used with only one intent, you cannot tell me that there is any other context other than slapping a pejorative to the end of a buzzword. If you insult me and think I have no place to call to attention that there is an issue then you're the one needing to "grow up".

I simply stated that there may in fact be other definitions that the person was intending other than blatantly trying to offend, maybe not with this particular word as it is pretty exclusively an insult and meant to offend. My point was simply that instead of having a knee jerk "oh my god, they said _____, I'm so offended" you could take a second to think about what they're saying, and their background and take that into account before just having a reaction. And bringing a political parties actions against someone without knowing their own affiliation is not a good move. I disagree completely with trying to limit certain rights to only certain individuals, regardless of who that person is, where they're from, or what their interests might be, until someone proves they don't deserve a certain right they shouldn't be denied that right.

I am not accusing you of anything. I am pointing out the realities of the world around and secondly a hypothetical. To be quite honest if the original replied had any modicum of creativity they would have coined the term 'swaggot'. If they were looking to shy away from the homophobic undertone.
