PVP has a disease...
Right now the crucible is riddled with a rare type of disease known as Thornitis. Everywhere you go, every game mode you play, there is no escaping it. If you even look at it, it will put you at 5% HP and slowly burn you alive whilst you watch your HP slowly wither away.
Seriously though. It doesn't matter if it is Clash, Control, ToO, Rumble, or ANY other PVP game mode, you will see the Thorn in everyone's hands. As a day one and a top 1% crucible player, it makes me sad that I'm starting to lose interest in PVP. I have the most fun when using legendary hand cannons, but NONE of them can out-shoot a Thorn or TLW. I doubt Bungie will even see this post, but if by chance they do, PLEASE make it so that I can use other guns in crucible and not get obliterated by, arguably broken, exotic hand cannons.
Most of you will see this as another bitchy "NERF HANDCANNONS" post, but I'm only trying to tell Bungie that they are losing the interest of many enthusiastic PVPers simply by a handful of "god-tier" weapons and there is NO variety whatsoever.
Edit: Glad to see so many of you on my side about this. All the rest of you who can ONLY use Thorn and nothing else can just go jump into the Hellmouth head first.

Edit3: This is all good stuff guys. Really great recommendations on how to deal with this disease. Personally I wouldnt mind a complete amputation.

I dislike PvP for other reasons but the thorn really isn't one of them. It's a gun that's fine and great in the right hands but most of the time it's players that suck and really only body shot and run. It's called move while you shoot. Dont stand still while shooting. I suck at PvP and I kill thorn users w/I a problem when I do play. Perhaps you should increase that skill of yours and get on par with this suck ass PvP player. The gun doesn't need a nerf.

1 commentaireWe did a trials card without a thorn and matched with a non thorn group and it was really fun. Tlw beat them fast so I don't worry to much. If you fight a whole group you gotta do the dance and los them.

3 commentairesI see Red Death, Bad juju and like pulse rifles as well. But Variety isn't my problem, if everyone uses Thorn, I don't care. But when the only thing I can use to be effective is a handful of weapons, I have a problem. With that being said, nerfing handcannons isn't the solution. You will then see Red Death dominate the crucible and you'd have the same problem you started with. The real solution is buffing auto rifles and nerfing Thorn in some way. Reducing the burn to 5 would make me happy. And giving auto rifles their "2.5%" back. As for you using legendaries against exotics, that's your own fault. You shouldn't expect to win that fight.

Main problem is everyone that runs Thorn also runs a Felwinter type shotty. Pretty deadly combo.

1 commentaireNot only can Thorn two shot people, but it can have the best stability of all exotic hand cannons and pretty close to the best range. It's fire rate is higher than hawkmoon, and it's 9 round mag is more than adequate to take down three people. It has final round, which can be easily glitched to appear on the first round and the last. And we're not even to the DOT yet. The DOT takes away health with periodic ticks. These ticks allow you to track enemies through walls if you fail to kill them. This poison then continues to keep their health down, which keeps that player out of the fight. So the DOT has done three things for you: it kept your enemy's shield down longer than any other weapon, it allowed you to track that enemy to where they fell back too, and it removed that player from the fight for a few seconds longer than any other gun WITHOUT killing them. It's ridiculous that Bungie hasn't addressed this weapon yet. It's literally taking over PvP.

4 commentairesSimplest solution would be to make it so in ToO and Iron Banner and all other level advantage playlists they come up with, not allow you to use exotics (armor or weapons). Though plenty of you would complain about it, you would see more diverse loadouts from all the players. If you add in no ammo boxes for special or heavy, it would make it even better yet

A no exotics playlist would be nice. I don't usually use Thorn or TLW, but if the enemy is annoying me enough, I'll take mine out and show them how to shoot. My Spare Change or 3LW is usually what I use.
