Trading System
Edit: For those that don't want a trading system, don't take part in it! Unless of course, you want people to "earn" all the guns instead. Whatever that means.
Anyway, I, along with several friends, have thought up of a viable trading system. It's quite simple. Nothing extraordinary. In fact, I'm sure a paraplegic hamster could have thought of this. I apologize to anyone that has written a post similar to this one. Anyway, I know a lot of people would love a trading system. It seems everyone is missing that one gun that they desperately desire but unfortunately fail to get. Meanwhile, there's that friend who receives that gun 3 to 4 times and dismantles it without any conscious thought. On the flip side, there's people who are salty about a trading system. They might think it changes the dynamic of the game. Well, let's meet in the middle somewhere. Here are some rules that could make this work.
1. Trading can only occur once per week. It resets on reset.
- If trading was unlimited, it could get out of hand. Limit it to once per week per user account and you'll see that this method is reasonable. You can't save the option to trade for next week, so use it. It doesn't carry over past the reset.
2. The trade has to be even.
- Non-Bounty Exotics for Non-Bounty Exotics. Example: Gjallarhorn can be traded for a Hawkmoon.
- Bounty Exotics for Bounty Exotics. Example: Bad Juju can be traded for a Thorn.
- Raid Legendary for Raid Legendary. Example: Black Hammer can be traded for a Fatebringer.
- Non-Raid Legendary for Non-Raid Legendary. Example: Two to the Morgue can be traded for a Secret Handshake.
- This is to ensure a fair trade. If you allow, a Non-Raid Legendary Weapon One Way Ticket to be traded for a Raid Legendary Found Verdict, you'll notice it isn't quite fair. A Raid gun requires Raid experience/completion and isn't in the same ballpark as a gun that can be bought from the Vanguard Quartermaster. Also, if you want to get specific, maybe Crota's End guns/gear can only be traded with other Crota's End guns/gear. Same thing with Vault of Glass. Or maybe don't allow raid guns to be traded. Have something though.
This hierarchy of weapons and gear stabilizes the trading system and terminates any lopsided trading.
3. Each trade can only consist of one gun or gear.
- You're allowed to trade once per week, but without a limit, you could technically trade 15 items for 15 items on one go. This stops that from happening.
4. Trading can only occur between friends of 2-4 weeks.
- Perhaps, we could have a time span on who you can trade with. Maybe, a trade can only be allowed between friends of at least 2 weeks. This stops the selling of guns on sites and whatnot. I mean, even if this wasn't a rule, that would be one hell of a side job, selling a gun once per week to a stranger for some dough. How about not.
Conclusion
- All I can think of personally is relief. That one gun you can't ever get that your friend has gotten constantly, is yours, if the trade is even. The pissy gamers on here constantly whining or being irritable on the game or forums, will dissipate slowly but surely. With a limited trading system, those in favor of a trading system and those that heavily disapprove, can see eye to eye. We get it. It's all about RNG but for once a week, let the value of community and friendship work its course. Give the gamers that tiny bit of control and power and Destiny gets even better than before.
Some major things we would also appreciate...
1. Extra Vault Space
2. No Glimmer Cap
3. Vault Of Glass Level 32
4. Capture the Flag Game Mode
5. Voting for Skipping Cut Scenes and Choosing Crucible Maps

1 ReplyEdited by Flexx D: 1/19/2015 9:54:48 PMI'll trade you a one of my Vex Mythoclast for one of your Gjallarhorns... (Trade Declined) because a Vex is a Raid weapon. I'll trade you a one of my Vex Mythoclast for one of your Fatebringers... (Trade Declined) because a Vex is an Exotic weapon. I like what you have thought up, but it puts the Vex in a unique situation... Un-traidable.

This cannot work lol any game that has trading has hundreds of items destiny doesn't have that many weapons. That is why there will be no trading system

Vog lvl 33

They could add a "vendor" that trades guns and armor between two people but he taxes for currency or two an each have a different currency then have a limit . If bungie hosts the trade I'm sure you couldn't duplicate weapons an armor like borderlands . What are your thoughts?

1 ReplyPeople will find a way to abuse it and monetize it.

I love the thought of a trading system. What I was thinking as a way to avoid cheating is do an open auction house on the weekends. Use strange coins as form of payment. The seller may post their item up for sale and it would be an open auction that the seller cannot control after he/she has put it up. Only do it one or two days of the week. I think that by doing this people will really have to consider what they want to spend their coins on every week between xur and the auction house. This would keep the game balanced and anyone can have a fair/unbiased chance at a legendary or exotic item. Of course there would have to be a few more rules or regulations like how many times you may bid each week just so no one person who has been hoarding strange coins can just walk in a buy up everything. This would also boost the ecosystem for the game as the seller would then receive say, a percentage of the coins the item sold for. I would think it's fair if the auction house receives 10% of the selling price as a commission. Sorry the long rant but I have been thinking this would be the most fair and balanced way to incorporate a trading system without breaking the game.

Very well thought out and very balance. Also to add in, you can only trade guns and armors of equal value. Example: You can trade exotic for exotic but can't trade exotic for legendary. There is so many ignorant people lol

Edited by HPStl14: 1/19/2015 9:03:05 PMHonestly, I want trading but your whole deal is way way way too specific. I mean, borderlands is a good example. I know it's not as big of a game as destiny but really, if you don't want to trade and gun/armor, don't trade it. If you give a friend something good, you're probably going to want something good back. In Borderlands, you can trade anything for anything and it works fine. I agree with the week by week thing though. I think that would help keep it somewhat under control

1 ReplyNo people will find ways to dupe and steal stuff
-
1 ReplyYes we need a trading system!! But everything needs to be BOA or BOP!!!!
-
2 RepliesAll except the trade everyone would get what they want and the game would be over or done
-
3 RepliesBad idea.
-
4 RepliesI completely agree this should happen but make exotics in tier wise, so Ghorn and hawkmoon (amongst others) would be tier 1. That will stop people from trading no land beyond or lesser exotics for better ones.

-
1 ReplyYeaaa thats actually thought out nice
-
2 RepliesI agree. I just wish we had more weapons to armor to make trading even better. From March to September, we will have just HOW to deal with, and if trading were to occur, everyone would acquire a lot lol
-
No support AUCTION HOUSE OR GTFO

4 RepliesHaha there's so many butthurt people commenting on this thread lol instead of moaning and bitching lets hear your argument .. why dont you want trading in destiny .. lets hear your opinion

1 ReplyBUMP THIS SWEET POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This game will continue to grow with each expansion and players will get lost with the amount of equipment they desperately want and a trading system will not only only help those in need of that one gun they want for bragging rights, or help complete a nightfall, or even own in the crucible :D

2 RepliesBump!

5 RepliesAgree, BUMP!!! only exception id have is with trading of raid weapons though. also think bungie needs to...... 1. add more exotics. 2. add exotic gear sets that only allow multiple exotics worn if you have obtained the entire set. (obviously have more modest perks) 3. add shader support on all exotics not just some. 4. tell xur its okaty to sell heart of praxic fire . 5. exotic treasure hunts fore the gear sets.
