It's like there's this thing in the destiny community where because hunter is popular, that it means they are the best. They aren't and not by a longshot. Maybe the title is a bit bait because would I say that hunter is unusable? No, it's just the gap between them and the other 2 classes is hilarious. I am talking strictly PvE. I am not talking about PvP, I understand the frustration and their strength in PvP. I'm someone that plays all 3 classes, I prefer hunter, but I'll play all 3. But when it comes to PvE boy oh boy, this class is the middle child of all middle childs. Hunters are almost never relevant to anything to do with PvE, and even when they are they get nerfed so much quicker compared to warlocks and titans. I have to sit here and watch consecration spam STILL be arguably the best thing in the game and prior to that HOIL was running rampant for an egregious amount of time. Well took years for it to get nerfed or changed even remotely significantly and even then? It's STILL one of the better supers in the game. How long did it take for starfire to finally get nerfed? Still hunt was relevant for a month and specifically due to Salvation's Edge having quite literally the PERFECT final boss for still hunt (massive crit spot that doesn't move) and got hit with a huge nerf to its damage. Lucky pants got hit with a massive 150% nerf to its maximum damage. I may be incorrect because it has been a bit since I played but the whole exotic class item caliban + synthos... also got nerfed. Hunters only found relevancy in strictly DPS, and not just DPS in general but DPS that required crit hits to be relevant (bar caliban + synthos)... and they got nerfed. Warlocks and titans have ALWAYS been better when it comes to their basekits and builds. Comparing the best builds from warlocks and titans to the best builds of hunters, it is hilariously night and day difference. And that's not mentioning that mobility is still the most cosmetic, useless stat in the game that has essentially no benefit in PvE. Hunter has been the class in PvE, consistently that people don't care to have on their team for endgame content because they just aren't as good as the other 2. But sidenote, the moment I knew hunters were just hated regardless of reality was when I saw the most egregious community wide gaslighting I had ever seen in my life after the salvation's edge race where people were like "omg guys look! Look at how little titans were involved in the groups that finished! Look at how many hunters! Titans are so bad!" Even though those stats were showing what people FINISHED on. Throughout the entire race, hunters were less present and people were mostly on the other two classes, and shocker! People swapped to hunter only because the final boss 1. titans couldn't really DPS (especially on race day where you NEED that dps) 2. like I stated earlier, the PERFECT boss for still hunt hunters. Massive crit, doesn't move. And somehow people came out the other side going "omg hunters are so broken! titans are just so garbage and weak!" like??????????? Either make their basekit flat out better or just lean into them being the best DPS options and STOP nerfing all their dps options? Have hunter supers just objectively be the highest DPS across the classes, since warlocks and titans just get to have far and away better basekits.
