They announced this a few years ago about a polish individual was the murder. Last I heard was they were trying to get DNA from the living relatives.
Also this wasn't the first serial killer. Just the first one that made headlines.

Well certainly it wasn’t the FIRST serial killer, but yes, the first one who made headlines, even though the term “serial killer” wouldn’t be coined many years later. And it’s still big news that we finally know exactly, without a shadow of a doubt who he was.

I have followed jack the ripper story for years. So in all there was four five people they always suspected. What they did know someone had to be skilled with their hands.
