Power level needs to be removed

There is no incentive to over level anymore because we are either capped to activity power or minus X number below. You have successfully ruined the Vanguard playlist for everyone in the community Congratulations. I am tired of getting railroaded in a playlist where I used to be able to turn off my brain and enjoy myself. Edit: OMG I am trending!!!!!! Bungie I can haz Recon? 2nd Edit: let’s keep the dialogue going. BUMP!

  • Power should either be meaningful like it used to be. It is hardly relevant anymore, we should be able to feel more powerful when getting up levels not constantly capped to -5 / -15 / -20 etc…

  • The moment power deltas became the norm in many mid-high end activities, power grinding pretty much died off. That's one of the biggest changes I hated when Lightfall came out, because it ruined the whole point of artifact levels, and it ironically killed off one of the few (granted, lesser) reasons to grind the game. I'd rather they just remove power deltas, and if they want to curb overleveling, change the artifact power system itself to provide something else that's equally, if not more engaging. How they could go about it, I honestly don't know cause I don't have the level of creativity needed to figure that problem out. Best that initially comes to my mind is just making power deltas into a surge/threat kind of modifiers.

    You can run patrols on EDZ 😂 But in all seriousness, yeah i agree if everything has a power lvl limit then there's little point. Tho that would get rid of the hamster wheel of farming=playtime to Bungie🤔

      I think it’s fine. It really isn’t that hard to get more powerful armor or weapons. And I don’t play for large allotments of time.

          • I would like to add something here and to ask a question. Ever since Bungie decided to cap our Light level in most activities (-5, -10, -20, etc.) instead of allowing us to over-level said content, the leveling system is now obsolete. What’s the point of “leveling up” if you ALWAYS going to be capped in the activities where “leveling up” matters most (GMs, Master Raids/Dungeons, GM Excision, etc)? What’s the point of “leveling up” if you’re always going to be playing with a handicap? The only reason why I think that Bungie doesn’t want to remove leveling is because it allows people to feel a false sense of progression and to have them spend more time in the game to please their investors. And now, my question. Why can’t Bungie put the “Easy”, “Normal”, “Hard”, and “Very Hard” modifiers from Destiny 1 and call it a day? That system wasn’t reliant on your Light level and they can put as many difficulty modifiers they want on them. Besides, they already have the seeds to do that anyways as all activities in the game show a “Combatant Difficulty”slider. Then again, I’m not Bungie so maybe it’s too hard for them to implement. 🤷🏿‍♂️

That's why most people hate Neomuna, and why a lot of people hate these new changes. And why I myself logged out of D2 after finishing Pathfinder to go play a more chill game. D2 used to be a good mix of chill and challenge, and now every activity requires you to "pay attention", which is terrible for player morale. I'm not sweating in vanguard ops, that's absurd it's not that hard, but being able to barrel forward with whatever I had equipped at the time (or needed to equip for bounties) was actually fun, and then if I wanted a challenge, I'd go do a GM or a master raid/dungeon. This "always at a light level detriment" sucks.

              • Yep. So sick of this crap. I’m not saying the whole game has to be easy. Challenge and difficulty are good. But there are places where it’s simply unnecessary, e.g. Vanguard playlist and patrol zones (*cough* Neptune).

              • If there is a power level, then we should get bonuses when we move up in power. A trade off for leveling our gear up.

              • Every time there's a light level I'm reminding how stingy Bungie is with Heavy weapons because it's always the last Pinnacle drop I need to max out. 2 out of 9 drop chance on seasonal activities, 1 in 6 from the new raid, 1 in 6 from the new dungeon, and 0 chance from Iron Banner because the weapon in rotation are 4 primary weapons and 2 specials.

              • No, it doesn't. For many of us, it helps give incentive to play. It's been a mechanic sine Day 1 D1. The season they removed it, player engagement dropped significantly. Hence why they've brought it back.

                  • The thing I don't get is that I get 1 shot out of nowhere. Even with the right mods, perks, buffs, just out of the blue. I notice it more when I'm doing better and steam rolling through an activity, and it feels like there's a hidden modifier that just activates when you're doing good, just so they can stop your streak.

                  • That is my major issue with the direction they have decided to go in. I remember when power level mattered. I remember seeing an enemy with a skull over its head and was like ok I need to put in the work to get to that level where I have a fighting chance. Or when Master Vog came out and my team couldn’t even get the door open so we went back to the drawing board. And when we returned it’s was challenging still but not oppressive. I don’t care to over level but I would like to be on Evan ground. This arbitrary artificial difficultly while not ruining the game does take away some of its magic

                  • It tells you what level the enemies are when they kill you. I think they are 2020 in the cooperative-focused missions, and I believe you are capped at 1995. That is your most-affecting Light Level.

                  • Just needs to be consistent. No one on this earth can tell me the 1995 Nightfall enemies are the same level as 1995 Co-op Iconoclasm enemies. Not a chance are these "1995" enemies equal.
