Challenges are completed by an average of 30% of the player base, just check the statistics for Light dot gg and Bray dot tech. For example, to date 25.16% of players have obtained Wicked Implement according Bray dot tech. For example, the triumph "Catching Waves" was completed by 16.06% of players according Bray dot tech. For example, the triumph "Disable Safety Routines" was completed by 24.15% of players according Bray dot tech. And so on.
Challenges are not synonymous of fun.
Burnout has been happening more frequently due to this decision by Bungie, several posts on Twitter show this.

2 RepliesD1 raids were fun and accessible. D2 raids are terrible at trying to force everyone into a role. Could solo crota in D1, now it's just a boring trash raid nobody does.

1 ReplyEdited by GetSpaghett: 5/28/2024 4:34:46 AMJust gotta remember that many people making decisions for developers don't really know what they're doing. They see a trend or something that works and that's what they follow. They almost never take into account the fact that video games are a form of art, as in they are a subjective matter, but these developers only want to make objective choices. They don't care about the players. They don't care what the players want. Most will only make decisions that will result in more profit under the guise of being friendly and social. If they see that difficulty sparks interaction and drives up sales for other games, then difficulty is what they'll push. It doesn't matter if it's the wrong choice. It's what they've determined will make them more money, therefore it's what they choose for the game. This is one of the big problems with the video game industry today. Too many greedy developers forgetting that video games are a subjective matter and need heart to be truly successful (notice I didn't say financially successful). It's just a bunch of businesses trying to minimize cost and maximize profit by copying each other.

1 ReplyNumbers don't give the full picture. I don't have wicked implement. I saw a video on the gun, wasn't impressed with its perks so there's no need for me to try and get it. Legend onslaught is a good challenge but again, with the amount of bugs and it being more efficient to do 10/20 round runs there's no real reason to push for 50 Same with legend Avalon, what's the point in running it? I mean, it's a fun challenge but for the other players who are chasing rewards there's no reason for them to run it
-
I only do challenging content to get the best loot then I never touch that piece of content again. Do I do them yes, do I enjoy them no.

2 RepliesI have 41 seals. I chase triumphs. Many of them are tedious, not fun and sadly, the reward is not worth the effort. if i'm being honest.. i'm not even sure why I continue to chase them. Some are fun and worth the grind.. sadly, you don't know until you have completed them. I tend to go for them early when more people are also running the activity so you don't have the advice of others as to wether it might be worth chasing. I will be playing TFS. I chose not to preorder until now as I wanted to vote with my wallet, change was necessary. I'm unlikely to continue after as the company and its decisions are not something I want to support, despite having played for 10 years and overall enjoying the game.

12 RepliesEdited by Divine_Majin93: 5/27/2024 8:02:52 PMGoing from D1 and then just watching over the past 7 years as all the things I liked about Destiny slowly devolve into such horrible concepts and ideas has been eye opening about the future of the live service concept. The only thing left I find worthwhile in this product is the campaign. I went from loving the raids (D1), PvP, and Nightfalls to just playing campaigns. I could rant why I think this product is done for, but Bungie only understands money.

1 ReplyYour experience - your money. This does nothing. If you stop spending money on the game, that does a lot. It's their game, if they think this is the way, to make half the game inaccesible to tons of players, then so be it. You vote with your wallet. If you're still paying for the content despite not being able to complete it, then that is your problem.

1. No. Just no. 2. They're called challenges for a reason. 3. Burnout is not synonymous with challenges. Burnout is burnout due to overplaying. 4. Don't say Bray dot Tech. Just say Bray Tech. We already know it's a site.

The "player base" includes people that log in once per month.

Casuals when challenges are “challenging”(they’re not) 🤯🤯🤯

1 ReplyI don't think I would play this game if every single activity would be the same difficulty as strikes. The challenge is what makes me want to play, I am happy with the direction bungie is taking destiny 2 atm.
-
15 RepliesI completely disagree. Its human nature to want to overcome challenges, and to be happy and excited when you overcome them. Without challenges, what would this game even be? And why would anyone be motivated to play it? Day one raids, solo dungeons, GM’s, Trials, Pantheon, these are challenges that players strive to excel at. If you take all those away, this game would have died a long time ago. Not that you would understand considering you have never done a dungeon solo, completed a day 1 raid, or even attempted Pantheon. You’re also extremely inactive when it comes to relevant raids/dungeons. Why even make this post when you dont even do/try the challenges you are complaining about?

3 RepliesEdited by Lob0Guara: 5/28/2024 7:20:26 PM"Thanks @falloutplays for taking one for the team and testing all in one place (feelings about Carl aside). First discovery - Patrol (including lost sectors) is now capped at +0 delta, vs. +50 currently. So you're taking 40% more damage and dealing 28% less, when on patrol." https://x.com/mossy_max/status/1795516662294167860 So!!!

game is hard, players whine go awayyyyyyy jeez louiseee

No. No movements. Just stop playing the game if you disagree with the direction that it is going. Design is dictated by engagement metrics; they've been very clear on this point for nearly a decade. Don't vote with forum posts. Vote with your feet. For myself, I'm staying.

So it pulls completion stats from past active accounts with a high enough triumph score.

27 RepliesEdited by an engram full of bees: 5/28/2024 4:06:33 PMYour numbers are incorrect, Lob0 These are the data points that OP is not mentioning, or as close as I could get with the time that I had — lots of the data we’d need is just simply not available to the public. Even my numbers here still have some pretty massive gaping holes, but they should give a rough idea of the % players who are completing the challenging content in question.
Percentages here are calculated by taking these total numbers as a fraction of a loose approximation of the total averaged monthly active player number at the bottom (416,651). Note: I didn’t really have time to pull up console numbers, but they should somewhat reflect the same stats as on PC (theoretically). So the percentages should remain the same for the most part (tho they would probably be slightly lower if included — again, not enough to worry about for now)

252,024 // ~60.4% of active players players who obtained Wicked Implement

264,970 // ~63.6% of active players Zero Hour (Into the Light) Completions
(technically this is the number of initial Outbreak pattern extractions that have taken place, but obviously that number should be exactly the same as the number of people who completed the activity)

345,139 // ~82.8% of active players The Whisper (Into the Light) completions (again, extractions)

416,651 players — our total number
Peak Lightfall concurrent players (316,651) for the year + 100k as a data cushion to account for additional Lightfall purchases and new player entries (see my note at the end if you want to know why I added this; doesn’t change much at all, as OP’s totals are still massively inflated) The data cushion is not applied to other numbers above; those stats are all more/less correct for our purposes.

MORE players have been completing the challenging content you’re describing than we’ve seen in the last 3+ years, most likely as a result of Bungie’s efforts to make challenging content available to the wider player base combined with other factors. They have a long way to go, but they’ve made some huge progress when you look at the OG Whisper mission and other “challenging” content ~5 yrs ago. ——————————————— For my sources or info on how I got these numbers and how OP got the wrong numbers, I’m gonna dump an essay here with all of that and go to bed.
From what I understand, the flaw in OP’s numbers (in his/her defense) comes from Bray.tech itself, along with every other public D2 stat tracker that isn’t directly supported with stats from Bungie. Example: safe to say that about 250,000 players have obtained Wicked Implement However, the indexing number Bray.tech currently is able to see per token is 1,000,000. Their percentages are calculated based off their index number — NOT the total number of players In other words, it is NOT 25% of the playerbase OP is looking at — it’s 25% of Bray.tech’s index Why Bray.tech even has that number displayed to the public without explanation is beyond me. I went ahead and added that extra 100,000 as a “data cushion” to account for Lightfall purchases and additional D2 downloads as well as extrapolated console numbers that have been made since its launch (remember, Into the Light is technically F2P so until we know otherwise, we have to be a bit generous in the approximation without going too far). The exact number is extremely hard to find online apparently, so this is my own estimate based off of patterns on Steam observed with The Witch Queen, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep data. It’s specifically for content that was released a while ago. It doesn’t change the important percentages too much at all, because evem if I added another 100k (which is obviously too much, D2 does not have half a million concurrent players) it would still result in percentages that are at least twice as much as OP posted. My sources: - Steam charts (reports from the last month) - ActivePlayer.io (cross referenced with Steam charts; ActivePlayer is not particularly useful for our purposes on its own) - Bray.tech (specifically the fine print that OP skipped)
For OP:
Based in your other comments and replies, it sounds like you had a pretty horrible LFG experience. And I’m sorry that happened to you. I’ve been there before, and it’s not fun. But you should do more research before you post stuff like this. Please DM me if you need help with any of the stuff your working on. I’m happy to lend a hand, we’ve all been there at one time or another.
8 RepliesEdited by waterpolo1: 5/28/2024 1:12:55 AM
Challenges are not synonymous of fun.
Easy and not challengeing are also not synonymous of fun. Have you seen grow men beating children in b-ball? It's sad.
30%. 25.16%. 16.06%. 24.15%
I'm completely fine with that. Look at every game that's been out for the last 15ish years, statistically the vast majority of people do not unlock the hard achievements/trophies or even finish the games on hard difficulty. Even simple achievements like get all collectables have very low completions. Attempting to cater to everyone is unrealistic. Cherry picking the handful of somewhat difficulty activities in this game to show that it has gotten too difficult is dishonest.

Edited by deadly-cause: 5/29/2024 7:21:42 AMI hope the patrol zone isn’t like what neomuna is. I barely even go to that destination because it’s too annoying. Leave that kind of difficulty to other content. Patrol zones don’t need it *RIP, seen aztecs video, red sword enemies. Yay another patrol zone slog

I’m all for management making these great decisions.

8 RepliesSo "please make the game easy again" but more words.

Been trying to get wicked implement for the last week spent 10 attempts trying to get it with 2 other people that are above average and are able to complete endgame activities….. I still haven’t got it yet feel free to upvote me if you haven’t got it so I don’t feel alone
-
2 RepliesWhat are the other 70% doing? If I were to guess I'd say that some weren't worried enough to get them done and the remaining made a few attempts, gave up, then came to the forum to make posts about how difficult the game is.
-
18 RepliesYeah and no. Games aren't supposed to be fun. They're supposed to be engaging hobbies that we enjoy, and everyone enjoys different things. Those percentages you quoted could be the percentage of people that get enjoyment out of those kinds of challenges. The game has something for everyone, but everything isn't going to be enjoyable to everyone.
-
Wicked Implement isnt done by many people because its challenging (its not) but because you need to grind fishing for it and get a mid weapon as reward
-
11 RepliesI really like challenge in some activities, If all the game was easy I would have already left it. I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way.
