For all the “Bungie should listen to its elite players” in the PvP realm drum bangers out there, the current playerbase is what that got you.
I’m mediocre at best… a perennial 1.0 average hobbiest player. PvP IS NOT FUN for me or anyone less skilled than me… to which I say there probably aren’t many left. I play to keep my bright dust stores full for events and such. Do bounties, etc. 1 or 2 out of 10 matches are what I would call enjoyable (ie games where my team has a chance to actually win). The rest are unbalanced messes of lopsided losses and wtf just happened moments over and over.
There is no incentive for a player like me. I’d play more trials if there was better loot incentive there.

I love how hard sweaty bois hit the forums. You can pick them out in a second. 2.0 kd Hand cannon with a shotty try hards. They never resist a chance to tell you how sweaty they are.
-
not really 1000% bottom players are the one that '''detroyed''' the game, obv is bungie fault to listen to bad players for 3 years
-
Except we also tried catering to .5 Jims and it was just as bad.... MAYBE the problem is the people at the helm and not the elites OR the Jims. MAYBE the problem is Bungie. MAYBE no matter what the input is, they're going to screw it up because they're not good at making a PVP experience. Just maybe.

13 RepliesI’m a 3.0 kd sweat and it not fun for me to buddy.

3 RepliesAs a top 0.1% player these types of post always make me laugh. This game is so unbelievably catered to the casual player it’s not even funny. Slide nerf, in air accuracy, hand cannon nerfs, shot gun nerfs, SBMM; These are all systems put in place specially targeted at “sweats.” Bungie LOVES the casual players so much the RANKED COMPETITIVE MODE USES SBMM INSTEAD OF RBMM. Destiny 2 is the only game in the world I know whose COMPETITIVE mode doesn’t use COMPETITIVE match making, specifically because Bungie wants ALL players to be able to reach the highest ranked. No player in the top 1% is happy with the state of this game. There is so much cringe and garbage that allows even the worst players to keep up. If Bungie really catered to us this game would be so different it would be unrecognizable. I just don’t know what world we’re living in where the most casual fps game ever made is being catered to the “sweats”… let’s be real…

Bungie seems to have given up on the game. Trials is at an all time low, and whilst I do not struggle in Crucible, the fun has been zapped. It has gotten a lot sweatier and casual play no longer feels casual. When all my opponents have gilded flawless I’m just kind of in awe. All these goofballs on the posts who think that they are gods at the game complain about the posts and reference the SBMM for a reason as to why we should stop complaining. But if SBMM is me against flawless players when I’ve been flawless once, how is that SBMM. You elite players should be happy that with what bungie has done and stop complaining. The game is only easier for you.

2 RepliesYou, with your loser mentality, are one of the reasons for the current bad state of the Crucible. All the weapons and exotics that skilled players liked have been nerfed, and SBMM was implemented instead of CBMM for a long time in a casual mode like Quickplay, despite the very bad servers. The result of all this is that you keep complaining and it seems like you're never satisfied with all these measures, because what you really want is to play against bots that don't even shoot their weapons. You don't want to improve by investing time in this game like the rest of us have. Therefore, every time you want better PvP, look in the mirror and accept your responsibility.

Way to many cheaters in pvp right now with insane levels of resistance, infinite special/heavy, net limiting allowing them to go through walls, shoot through walls, negate dmg and so much more with the crazy teleports and blinks while not using blink or A.V. exotic. Yet somehow Battle Eye can't detect any of this. Maybe it needs to learn how to crunch some numbers because the math isn't doing the math.

There is no incentive for a player like me. I’d play more trials if there was better loot incentive there.
No you wouldn't. It's already some of the best stated weapons in the game almost all with lethality perks which are considered valuable in pve. If what's there now has no value to you I doubt anything short of mountain top and recluse 2.0 would entice you. And besides that bungie has been catering to the casual playerbase for years now, theyve thrown so much at getting ppl who don't like pvp to play it the population that actually likes pvp has taken a hit and we didn't retain any of the "casuals" and we didn't get any of the changes we actually needed.
-
Better loot incentives? The whole reason Trials is the way it is, is because of the "loot incentives". You dangle a "slightly better" version of the weapon everybody can get in front of people's face, and suddenly they have to cheat for it, pay shady people to get it for them, blah, blah, blah. I mean, Trials would die without those rewards, but it would also be a slightly better place to play. Whenever I hear someone talk about their god roll adept X weapon, I god roll my eyes. Even if you didn't cheat, you still had to use the same stuff we all have to get your first ones, or maybe all of them, who knows, right? So what good is it?

10 RepliesThey have done nothing but cater to causals LMAO, that is what killed the game

15 RepliesPvp population was fine until they switched quickplay to sbmm and started punishing players for using movement.

3 RepliesEdited by Morakx: 12/31/2023 7:50:08 AMYou SBMM enjoyers are literally counter arguing yourselves. You say the playerbase is dead rn, meanwhile we have had SBMM for over a year now. Playerbase has never been lower than now. WITH YOUR DUMB BELOVED SBMM SYSTEM THAT DOESNT WORK WITH A DEAD PLAYERBASE. The playerbase started dying WITH the introduction of SBMM. It was way more populated with CBMM. So what tf is yalls point here? Elitists being the issue? You little guys in your SBMM bubble dont even match them anymore. SBMM is literally the root of all the issues. My queue times went up to 20 minutes this season, my matchups are laggy af and i literally play the exact same people for the entire day with SBMM. The playerbase is that dead. Use your brain please. Please do. SBMM splits the remaining tiny playerbase even more. Thats why its so bad rn.

2 RepliesThe incentive to play PVP is the enjoyment. The real PVP killer is the repetitive nature of PVP. We have had the same maps and modes for years. I want something new, especially new maps. I'm not sure why you're blaming "elite players" for the low population. I simply don't understand the leap in logic. The biggest difference between an "elite player" and a "regular" player is that an elite player typically prefers CBMM to SBMM. I hate to break it to you, but we have more SBMM modes than ever before. You really need to explain your viewpoint more thoroughly

1 ReplyI don't consider myself a bad pvp player in most games but man d2 just makes me feel like trash. NOBODY misses their shots... everyone is cracked out of their mind sweating like their life depends on it. Playing those types of people is what is making me move on to other games.
-
1 ReplyThe problem isn’t even PVP, it’s the fact Lightfall was one of the worst received DLC’s Destiny has had and because of that the whole game has lost players. Then it’s been followed up by a few sub par seasons that’s not managed to claw back let alone keep the player base. Bungie have realised this and are panicking about the final shape so have put back its release date. If you want someone or something to blame, blame the ethos of not over delivering because that is what’s led us here. Not some elite PVP players.

It’s only supposed to get this sweaty in the tropics!

When the pigeons are gone….so is the game. It’s already there……

Personally we need bungie to start having pvp compensation for this type of stuff cause i think it deserves rewards no matter what As well a win loss pattern thats just simplified instead of stats one match of win one match of loss for quickplay personally Ive had so many matches where it was 70% losses due to meta touchers and comfort players And 30% is just a lucky chance one small win that doesnt feel worth Unless your playing with friends Bungie should also consider a solo queue system again like freelance to actually balance out the friend fireteam group system actually It really gets repetitive

Edited by Rainbine 9545: 12/31/2023 4:29:51 AMI’m going to throw my own thought into here cause I think it has some points I blame trials, my reasoning cause of the same fact they pointed out along time ago, it has to be the best pvp loot in the game Or if your a pve player the best pve loot as well, since we can’t have loot from trials actually being less then some common loot you can get from any other gamemode or activity I mean for example, how long did the trials smgs and I do mean both own the game just cause they were the absolute best weapon in the game before they got the entire archetypes they belong to nerfed? So why bother playing normal pvp or iron banner when trials has the best loot, removing any reason to play the game normally untill weekends

elitegtryin to work with whats left.. for now - old
I think when "we" the player-base blame each other thats just always wrong. Its Bungie's fault. They are creating the situations. Bungie creates the unbalance thinking as a business "it will help us monetize". It will help them chase this.. it will herd them here.. etc. To fix it > Bungie has to just let us choose and be transparent about real-time player numbers. Example (or some variety on this): You select Crucible > choose 6v6 or 3v3 > choose gunplay(checkmate) or normal > choose what game mode is on tap ** The whole time you are seeing the population breakdown.. trends.. weapons used.. leaderboard -
9 Replies
For all the “Bungie should listen to its elite players” in the PvP realm drum bangers out there, the current playerbase is what that got you
Even when the bungie dev team stated that they would cater towards Dedicated PVP players...Ya, we will believe it when we see it. Until they show, they mean business..we are staying away.

Decided to not play pvp unless I absolutely have too, best move I ever made. Don't want to touch that dumpster fire especially since I am not good at pvp. Would rather play gambit
-
Edited by Zoidberg: 12/31/2023 6:08:19 PMYep, they kept listening to the wrong people. This game needs an infusion of party modes. TTK reductions and a move toward fun. I just moved all my casual pvp play to the finals. Destiny pvp is just not enjoyable anymore.

Edited by A_mo: 12/31/2023 6:53:38 PMThere has yet to be any cannibalization. But if the PvP players come back there might be. Who knows if they'll be able to stomach it though. One things for sure. This game can not calculate then "matchmake" its own minutiae. Its never going to happen to where the game is as good as it could be.
