Having already got the exotic it’s frustrating trying to farm deepdives as randoms are constantly trying to do this mission rather than the deep dive and then just leaving when you continue the deep dive normally! The two shouldn’t be intrinsically linked in the way they are! Either that or implement bans for players that are leaving consistently on purpose in this situation as it impacts other user’s experiences. Literally every damn game is this way at the moment shouldn’t have to LFG to complete the seasonal activity!

It should be just like the Whisper mission. Once you unlock it, you can select it from the map and start the mission by itself. It's already hard enough, and suffering through another deep dive just to be able to run the mission is so painful. But of course Bungie wanted to artificially boost the deep dive participation numbers. Bungle logic.
-
came to the forums to talk about this, bungie really messed up normal deep dives since randoms want to just go into the exotic quest. wtf bungo

4 RepliesWhile I agree with most of what you've written, it can't be decoupled. Those of us who have done it the hard way, and I'm one, will feel cheated because those who haven't will have a far easier path to the weapon.

1 ReplyNo different to getting a strike speedrunner, its open mm so you get what you get, want something specific ? make a team. If I join an activity via mm I'll go with the flow, thats what you're signing up for. Thats been the players mantra from D1, don't like what others are doing? make your own team. Sucks but thats the playerbase 'don't tell me how to play' attitude.

1 ReplyCould have just made it so that once you acquire the 3 broken blades, you unlocked Deep Dive Legend. Have it be 10 Tiers, no need to find Toland. You finish it the first time, guaranteed drop of the exotic. Subsequent drops, you could get the exotic with some limited randomized perks (like DMT, Hawkmoon), or you can get high stat seasonal armor or an exotic engrams (to use for their new crazy exotic crafting system), or the catalyst to drop. This way everybody loading into it is definitely going to try to finish it. Less leaving. Solo players are satisfied. And Ppl with clanmates won’t really care either way. And of course you could choose to do it solo if you are that type too.

1 ReplyI don’t even play this game anymore and know this should happen but I also know bungie are probably technically limited and can’t do that.
-
5 RepliesI do want them to keep the matchmaking aspect. But after this first week you really should be able to load directly in, fish or no, just log right into the event and go.
-
I know it took 3 dives to get one done because they kept leaving because it was only a dive. It happens in gambit in a way. In gambit, if there is a kill all enemies type weekly challenge don't count on your team winning because they will just kill and move on, forget collecting and banking motes
-
Don't know why Bungie didn't just have 2 modes 1 for deep dive and 1 for the exotic mission. They did it with the Castellum where you could select either the Containment public event or the explore/patrol mode.
-
Idk about banning ppl cuz I keep dropping out as I'm trying to do normal deep dives and others keep dropping out on me cuz they're trying to do the exotic quest. This was just a real poor design for an exotic quest on bungie's part. Hopefully they'll learn a lesson from this by keeping exotic missions separate from seasonal activities. But I get it tho it does get frustrating. Only work around is lfg I guess.
-
Took me 4 attempts to find people who wasn't doing the exotic mission
-
Given the way this activity was specifically designed to not allow "join in progress" -- they designed it with LFG in mind.

2 Replies😆😆 You all begged and cried for Matchmaking. Well there ya go
-
3 RepliesBasically you want people banned for NOT doing what you want them to? Seriously.

Either that or implement bans for players that are leaving consistently on purpose in this situation as it impacts other user’s experiences.
I hope this is satire, but if not
😂🤣😂🤣
54 RepliesYour use of decouple and intrinsically don’t at all fit. Trying to feign intelligence just makes you look stupid dude. Just because you know a word, doesn’t mean you need to use it.
-
3 RepliesIs this the 3- or 6-guardian team activity? Having not yet done the exotic mission part yet. Cause if 3-man activity it can easily be soloed and even allows for choosing a solo run.

Edited by BulbaSmasher: 7/10/2023 1:17:39 AMEvery single exotic mission has been designed for lfg lol.. this was tied up to deep dives because everyone cried for matchmaking...m Again another perfect example of why raid matchmaking should never be a thing.. its literally a kill stuff mission lol

Completely agree. Don’t see how they thought this was a good idea. Activity was already bad as is.

2 RepliesBungie: Understood, adding new activity to Deep Dive called Randy Newman's Song. Race Randy Newman to the bar that has sunk down to the deeps of Titan as James Cameron aides you in this race to raise it back up to normal standards. Will Randy Newman be able to pull it off with his death song of going deep deep deep down in the darkness or will you and James Cameron be able to defeat this new nemesis?
-
Have to agree. It’s maddening.
-
this is the laziest , dumbest mission ive played. shyt show!
-
I think the best solution would have been to make the exotic mission an optional final boss. Maybe something like beating it gives 2 points instead of 1, but failing it when time runs out gives 0 points or the normal 1 point, and you just loose the 10 minutes. Or don’t touch the points at all, but just have it so you can fail the boss at the end and still get a deep dive completion. That way nobody would be too bothered by the intrinsic coupling of two distinct paths in one mission when running lfg.

3 RepliesEdited by Will To Live (Timelost): 7/9/2023 6:42:43 AMThey’re not going to. This was a conscious decision because it saves money. They put three objectives into one game mode. 1. Regular clears 2. Tier 7 clears 3. Exotic mission Remember how weapons like Vexcalibur, DMT etc had their own proper missions? This exotic mission is 50% seasonal activity + 50% reused assets. If you compare this to previous missions, it’s laughable how cheap this is They intentionally chose this, probably so they could funnel money to Marathon
