Challenges befell them but their kingdoms forged on, a golden age; untested by the Crucible of Fates. Its citizens flourished and its cultures soared. Mostly separated, the people of the Realm slowly discovered one another through trade and exploration. The Goblins of the Schlaugendaurffs were the first to discover the flying city of Alessia. Hesitant at first, the People of Alessia soon discovered the marvelous properties of the Urckenlautens blood in clarifying and polishing magitech crystals. A robust trade soon began between them. In the coming years the rest of the realms kingdoms discovered one another, In a similar fashion, though not always with congenial intentions. The Zombies of the Bone Zone had spread out into the world; their hunger claiming those foolish enough to wander into any forest or untraveled grove alone or unprepared. Great hoardes accumulated and were set marching by terrified passerby’s; who would then run desperately to the nearest town- “Help!” They would cry- “The dead yet live!”. By Morning the town would be no more and the land would die soon after. Each zombie a finger stretched from the mind of the malevolent Cryptkeeper. The shark like mercantile prowess of Mike Illitch Sr. would make it so that Little Kaisers Etsy throw pillows were nearly a household name, though among some in the realm, his chattel treatment of Mules drew fierce protest. Undaunted he raised the prices and dared the kingdoms of the realm to challenge them. None did… The Turg’u people were embraced by many for their provision of the seagrass, its numerous medicinal and reagent properties made it a greatly demanded commodity of the realm. The U’turgs kingdom swelled in numbers and a culture of harvest evolved almost religiously around the Sea Grass. The Turg’u were of most interest to the eMPIRE in their orbiting platforms. The eMPIREs interest in the Turg’u people led to a migration treaty of interesting Turg’u individuals in exchange for foods other than seagrass. Opening the Turg’u up to new cuisines set their deprived palates on a frenzy, and they soon discovered the Mead and Turnips of The Gamla Upsala, as well as their affinity for the intoxicating chili peepers and obligatory lettuce. A Household industry became a cottage industry became a corporate one, and Both the Gamla Upsala and Turg’u were flush in that Chili-p. Among them all went the Mysterious El soul-seekers. Regarded as excellent companions and allies, they contracted with other mortals of the realm individually. While the terms of these contracts varied, each one stipulated the right to the other mortals soul if they did while they were being served by them, in return, the Mortals would benefit from the magical aura of the El in question, in whatever form that might take. Among a portion of the citizenry they were decried as succubi and demons of ill contracts and malicious consequence, but for many who contracted them, such heights they had never imagined. Perhaps as a consequence, the Tesseract grew every year. Among all the people of the realm, intrepid figures and hungry entrepreneurs took to the endless frontiers and inexhaustible horizons, but no matter how far they traveled the expanse of the realm stretched on. Trade routes enriched its people… Artisans plied their works, mercenaries and thieves carved their lot and the Nobles each ruled in their own way. Like all foolish mortals they believed their fortunes unending. The Greater Lords observed the Lesser Gods as they regarded their meager and petty creations. Some looked upon their chosen civilization with contempt, or worse yet; malice. More were uncaring; entreated by the Greater Lords they fulfilled the divine bargain, and the fate of their creation would be the responsibility of its mortal people; Still they watched from afar. Among the few remained the Lesser Gods who cherished their creations with a paternal joy. They had fostered their creations as their offspring and protected them, though even they could not stop the hands of fate. As they regarded their creation, The Greater Lords fell to grim reflection; and the age of Omens began. I. The Age of Omens In the first year of the age of Omens a frightening plague began to take root. A Blight killing crops and livestock alike swept through the Realm. The Dead were to be expected, but the signs were not. Strange happenings had accompanied this creeping sickness of the earth. Shamans and holy men, celebrants of the Gods and all the prophets did proclaim that the Blight would only get worse. With chanting and incantation they professed Omens and Warnings of coming strife and death. Shielded from this tragic event by their enigmatic space magics were the eMPIRE. Whose technology in the time of the mysterious blight staved off the worst of the hardship. Struggling to meet the demand for food from the other Kingdoms, they reaped enormous rewards and profits, while many more suffered in the lands below. The Soul Seekers of El continued their quest unabated, stocked with a fresh flow of souls from the denizens of Newtopica, They became a more frequent sighting among the other kingdoms, harvesting the souls of the dead, and returning them the mysterious Tesseract. Even the Odd-smelling warriors of The Gamla Upsala were able to store enough Mead and Turnips to survive for many years to come. But woe… Chilli Peppers and lettuce climbed exponentially in there tendered price, and unrest fermented just beneath the veneer of its already thin society. The flying city of Alessia confronted it’s greatest food shortage in History, and even some reagents extracted to purify the enigmatic crystals that powered their technology and lives were of those same crops. The High Empress Lord Lady confronted two great crises. The shortage of crystals and the shortage of food, many would die and the ensuing chaos of an energy shortage would cause further strife in the panic. The coming shortages were not yet upon them but something would need to be done The Schlaugendaurff Stautten, saw their worst mercantile days yet, the Urckanlatens which made up such a strong part of their trade had begun migrate elsewhere to greener sewage flows, and the oddly named “tobacco sauce” could only prop up the economy so much. The Stautten faced tough times ahead, the loss of revenue from Trade, unproductive Citizens, and an ever growing need for the Flautennaters and Norftens they so desperately crave. Widespread riots would be likely, if they did not prepare. While the Turg’u had seen the recent declines in Seagrass as a blessing, things had begun to quickly get out of hand. Vast expanses of dead seagrass now littered the underwater realm of the Turg’u, unpalatable yet still somehow marginally edible, a great malaise has settle over the U’turg’s people. Though he prayed fervently, and rallied his subjects it seems something must be done soon. The beasts of burden were dying and the waters turned a sickly brown from the blight, more would die if they did not act. They have enough healthy fields for a short time, but the ever creeping blight is eating more each day it seems, what madness drives this? In the Silent wasteland of the Bone Zone, the undead begin to crumble ‘starving, so hungry’ the numbers of moving undead slumps dramatically, but is no matter, the cryptkeeper touches the hoarde through his unholy link and feels their collective hunger for life, more so he recognized that the hoarde was dying its second death, and more must be consumed if he was to remain the King of the Bone Zone. And seemingly in stride with this fell omen of blight and famine, A new people raised a banner of defiance in their own small corner of little consequence… Arriving late in The realm of Newtopica, The people of the Elys came… Strange and nebulous wraiths of unknown origin, there skeletal eyes shone with strange fell light, and there robes were a black flame to mock the Gods, they wandered in nomadic bands across the great expanses of the realm, their nigh immortality was only limited by their ability to hoard the life essence they generated by worshipping the Warden, a Flame wreathed Scion of unknown power, and direct conduit to the Abyssal ones. They’re trade; Artifacts of Abyssal energy storing capacity, for their coveted Soul-Devouring Onyx… When refined its magical qualities could hone even the most hopeless of blade and imbue them with power. Now, The Bells of the Fates are ringing… The Greater Lords of the realm are calling to their subjects.
*Vote in the polls beginning at each post. There are great things waiting for those who go Beyond Order and have Antidotes for Chaos. I know of 24 ways to do so.

    • In an attempt to create stronger relations with the Alessians the Gamla Uppsala offer to trade Turnips, due to the food shortages affecting the Alessians and the similarity to potatoes. In a wild attempt of experiment the Jarl decides to see if Mead can cure the disease which is affecting the Turg'u and Alessians, he is unsure if it will work or not.

He digs a large hole in the middle of a particularly dead field of Seagrass, lies down in it, and asks the gathered crowd of farmers to fill it in on top of him, which the farmers do with a grim solemnity. Meanwhile the U’Turg has been kicking himself. Even though the Seagrass has started to become as venerated as it once was in society, most people have lost the ancient skills of cultivation that made it such a powerful force to begin with. He orders his scientists to devise a new process of fertilisation so that it can be grown on land again, as he thinks the blight is due to a pollutant in the water.

          • The Schlaugendaurff Empire have seen chaos and cruelty before, this was nothing compared to the War of Umpenstauffer of Great Urgendine. Those were the days when the Goblins, Gnomes and Trolls were against one another. The hate that filled their nostrils, that fired up their greenish metallic blood. Families were torn and ripped apart because of their hatred. Order had come at that time, just like Order has to come now. The Stautten congregated to their official meeting den. All the Stautten gathered round and start reminiscing of the past. The Order of the Stautten consists of six elder patriarchs. (One to represent each specie and sub-specie.) Yonagarrn was the first to speak. She spoke softly and yet, with a serious tone. "I have witnessed many things in this land. Things that we all are aware of and yet, there is someone and something that I have witnessed. A Ravager has been spotted with his ill-gotten wares to sell. As you know Ravagers do not come alone, they send one of their scouts. The Ravager Scout has a smooth snake like tongue that will talk sweetly to you and will talk you out of your wares that you want to trade. This Ravager Scout must dealt with, interrogated and we must know why, what and who the Ravagers are working for or with. We have worked so hard to come together and treat each other ethically, equally, honestly and above all we have is one another. To my knowledge no one has stepped foot in our Empire until now. Who are the Ravagers working for? And why would one want to sell rotten Flautennaters and Norftens? We grow our crops. Now we have to sterilize the seeds so the fruit and vegetables they yield will not be rotten themselves. Who is going to capture the Ravager?" Durnagerran spoke next. "I agree to everything you said and I too have seen the Ravager. That's is why I sent Soquille The Denzien Warrior after said Ravager. He will be interrogated for at least ten grueling hours with tiny baby spiders crawling on him until we get the answers we're looking for and if that doesn't work, we'll offer him a glass of our infamous murky sewage water that will be infested with the microscopic larvae of the bowels of the platentenna who swim in an area that is away from the crabs 😉 The Ravager will either spill his guts and confess or his guts will be spilled. Everyone should know that after drinking a glass of our infamous murky water the individual only has twenty-four hours to live before his intestines will eaten from the inside out and there by producing a new bigger platentenna. Seriously, we need to find out from Soquille The Denzien Warrior what he has learned." All the patriarchs nodded in agreement and so the decision was made. When the patriarchs stepped outside, shrieks and blood curdling screaming was coming from a distance. "Good, the baby spiders are hungry today." stated Braunlefgren. He had no remorse for Ravagers. Ravagets are part Snake, part Rakenshan. How Snakes and Rakenshan procreate is another mystery. Lauftenschlag stated, "Let us come together and pray that Order will come, if not, I fear another war upon us and don't worry, we are prepared." to be continued...

                • In order to combat their food shortages, the Alessians turn to the Turg'u, and buy some seagrass. Not the live seagrass, the dead seagrass, which they can presumably get for much cheaper! Then, they undertake an experiment. They try to use their magitech to revitalize the seagrass, transforming it into its living state, and in the best case scenario, they also try to transmute its plant matter into more desirable plant matter, like potatoes or something. Y'know, just something tastier than grass. (unless seagrass is super nummy or something) If they are successful in this endeavor then they shall buy the dead seagrass en masse. They won't pay as much for it as the live seagrass, obviously, but they'll pay a lot more than anyone else will for dead grass! For their crystal shortage, they deliberate on the best way to get more miners. Food shortages come with miner shortages, and so they turn to the other kingdoms. They decide to use their flying city to head into the Bone Zone, where their aerial position should let them evade the zombies. From the sky, they set up a quarantine zone, trying to catch a small handful of the zombies where they then experiment with the idea of using their magic to control them. These experiments take place on the ground, in a specialized facility with zombie defenses--they aren't dumb enough to drag zombies into their city! Once again, if successful, they'll either find a suitable spot within the Bone Zone to mine, or drag a few zombies away using their newfound "control crystals" to have them work some existing mines. In either scenario, they hope to avoid the wrath of the Cryptkeeper by only stealing a relatively small amount of zombies. The zombies captured are not fed, they are used until their second death, and then discarded, and they do not work the same mines as the living; there are zombie-exclusive mines.
