CRUCIBLE IS STILL HORRIBLE IN EVERY WAY. WHERE IS THE GUNPLAY?

Ability spam, no skill - -blam!- guns, camping, hand holding, not balanced HUGE MESS created for the arc titans only. People are leaving this game in droves because CRUCIBLE IS SO BAD, and you don't seem to care or have a clue. It is sad that a game with so much potential become the worst possible version of itself.

  • The main thing about the pvp in destiny is the imbalance of guns and classes. They dont clearly define what guns they want to be pvp oriented and pve oriented. So when they balance stuff its all over the place and some stuff ends up extremely good in all aspects of the game. Not to mention the fact that they wont nerf things that have been dominant since D1 but theyll nerf things that arent even a problem like the vex for example. An iconic hard to get rare weapon that had its day in the sun for a season then they nerfed it when in reality the only reason it was that strong to begin with is because of seasonal mods you no longer have access to. Now its mediocre at best and gets outgunned in most situations where it should be strong by just about every other gun type in the game. Thats one example of many but regardless that type of nerfing is goofy to say the least. For some reason they have a hard on for hand cannons so they let hand cannons be op for literally forever since D1 and it hoenstly just makes the pvp stale. Same guns over and over again dominating because its easier to just introduce new stuff instead of balance old stuff. Ace of spades for example Hawkmoon shotguns. then you add in the class imbalance and man it gets even crazier titans literally just running at you and meleeing 3 people to death because they get free shields for sprinting like a nerd at the enemy. hunters gaining health simply for dashing just for dashing like what. and warlocks are just sitting there with nothing really to counter any of that so if you play warlock in pvp your kind of at a disadvantage we have 1 or two things that are kinda dumb compared to the other two that just about everything they have available being low skill floor and goofy. The gunplay in the game is great its smooth responsive for the most part and feels good but the imbalance is what makes it feel crappy. it has potential to be some of the best pvp out there but they really need to take a long hard look at weapon balance for pvp some weapons are just downright ridiculous and it makes engagements stale and boring. I honestly dont understand why ace of spades is allowed to be as strong as it is for so long. You see it so often and you just know that if they werent using that weapon you probably would have won that fight but beating it is extremely difficult because landing 3 shots is far easier than landing 5 or more in rapid succession. This gun is just an example of many that are overtuned and have been for a long time that surprisingly havent been nerfed in pvp to balance it out some. Its sad that auto rifles are in such a bad state that they are literlly the least used weapons in the crucible.

  • I remember when bungie said a return to gunplay. Meanwhile some warlocks are crying saying arc 3.0 sucks when they have abilitys with the girth to make Gary Oak envious.

    • - Tripmine Spam - 1 hour long tracking Storm grenade spam - Invis Krephis + Lorentz Drive / Arbalest - Triple Monarque stacking - Dead Messenger + Warlock slide - Jug shield into Antaeus Slide block There is too much cheese in the game right now, so much to the point that it'll be nearly impossible for Bungie to correct. It's really gotten out of hand. Potentially Lightfall will bring some sort of "sunset" wipe to the game that will allow Bungie to be a mass reset on items, but based off what the new subclass looks like. I doubt it. This game is an Ability Simulator - with guns. And that's probably what it's going to stay as The "renewed focus on gunplay" was a nice thought, but never going to be a reality .

            • The only gunplay is special weapon exploitation and team shooting. That’s why I play COD for pvp instead of destiny lagfest pvp. If bungie ever included after the kill cam every one would quit playing it.

            • It's always been this way - the game isn't the real issue, it's the players that build cheezy loadouts. Ranged SMG's that outgun handcannons. Arcsoul, rifts...the list goes on. PVP is not a fps - Bungie wants as many players as possible feeling competitive, it'll always been about abilities and meta loadouts. ...the days of straight up gun fights are long gone, and never to return.

              • When Bungie says they are tuning abilities down what they mean is ooooohhh what if this Titan can throw a grenade that tracks and lasts for ages. Or Hunters need a throwing knife that can bounce off walls and 1 hit kill. Or Warlocks need…oh hang on Warlocks had the handheld supernova. -blam!- Warlocks they.

                • Yeah crucible is crap but that's how the causals like it and that's who the game is being shape for so sadly we either pull up to the table and eat crap or we don't eat at the Destiny table as pvp players.

                • yup, bunch of abilities spam to win, while primaries are driven to have more faster ttk (900-750 smg, 340-540 pulse and BXR, Sidearm on Roller). Not engaging and unfun

                • Spent some time in the crucible this weekend for the first time this season, when I saw that we could earn big weekly Challenger XP from competing in the Comp playlist. My takeaway: PvP is doing just fine, thanks Bungie! I'm an average 0.6 player(I think). All my games were close, it felt like I was playing against people in my range. Matchmaking times were quick, no lag in games, and I saw lots of players on my console (Xbox) and also Playstation. Comp was fun, but felt repetitive, so as soon as I won/lost my way to the weekly challenge I switched to Control. Won most games, lost a few, Mercy-ed one team that wasn't trying too hard. I used the time to try out different pulse rifles, played for fun, got my challenges and bounties done, enjoyed my time in the crucible. Just wanted to post it here because I think MOST people are having the same kind of experience I had. I care about this game (D2 is the only game I play) and I play a lot (about to hit 1610 this week, why? Because I *CAN* and it feels good in end-game content!) but these forums tend to be home to a lot of complaints. So I just wanna leave this here, Bungie, gently laid on the pile of quivering rage posts, you made changes to the crucible this season and a PvE guy went in and enjoyed himself. Good job. I'm not looking for anything here, just want to point out that if I had that experience, so did others. Maybe a lot of others, maybe tens of thousands of Guardians are playing the game and enjoying the changes. Just wanted to provide some positive perspective along with the vocal group of folks who seem angry about the crucible. I'm not denying your experience or opinions, just mentioning that what we have right now is working for this Guardian, and probably a lot of others as well.

                    Arc and void titans are completely busted in trials and comp. 60% of t500 is on titan if that tells you anything. They’re fine in 6s, but they need some heavy nerfs for 3s. Starting with shoulder charge being able to insta-proc with specific inputs then shield uptime (or health)

                      Primaries are stronger than they've ever been, and specials have been nerfed quite a bit Camping spawn hasn't ever been a viable playstyle. It's boring to play against, but the other team has no chance of winning that way. Camping the choke points of a map is good strategy, and everyone in every FPS game does it "Handholding" opens teams up to flanks or AOE attacks (grenades, etc.) Offensive abilties have been dialed back quite a bit. With very few exceptions, you can no longer earn kills through ability use alone. I'm pretty sure Bungie said something along the lines of "We want abilities to compliment gunplay", and they've made great progress towards achieving that What specifically do you think is unbalanced? Bungie just announced a ton of upcoming weapon changes in the most recent TWAB, and I bet some of what you consider to be unbalanced was addressed

                      • Gunplay died when they brought back arc 2.0 with knockout and the like. Destiny pvp wether casual or competitive will never be good until the glaring issues are fixed, but when one is pointed out there is radio silence(shadow melees). Hunters will always have an incredible edge with dodge over the other two classes in pvp, they’ve ruled the crucible for seven years(literally double the hunters alone in pvp so you have no argument). If you trying to enjoy it more play hunter. Now of course all of this is from an old console vet. But that’s what I see the main problem being, there are to many outliers and bungie watches before they act. We need to lock loadouts in competitive pvp like the days of old and force people to the adapt to the map, but that being said we need more maps and better rotation. Do you you see how it snowballs down hill? Pvp will never be perfect and your best way to enjoy it is to suffer through it.
