I am not posting this to start debate.
I simply disliked SBMM in a "quickplay" environment that is intended for a casual experience, but the banning from both control and competitive for leaving a control match gave me quite the chuckle to see today.
To anyone else peeved by this, these posts honestly mean nothing.
If you don't like what they have done, boycott the playlist. Same as voting with your wallets not joining a playlist sends just as strong a message. If their changes result in a total player count dropping far enough they would revert them simple as that.
On the other hand, if you think control needs to be sweaty, and that the leaving penalty needs enforce, by all means keep playing!
I however, will not set foot in control a single time for the rest of this season, and possibly longer depending on how long these changes persist.

Edited by The2ndWave: 9/14/2022 7:19:32 PMHere’s a take that I haven’t seen yet. It may or may not happen, but I’ll throw it out there anyway. If SBMM would truly work every time. Those regular quitters who would quit and get penalized are gone for sometime. While they are gone, it will actually improve the game experience a little bit for those who are already enjoying the SBMM mode. So this is a win-win for Bungie and those in the community that enjoys SBMM. Now the only thing that needs addressing are lag/ connection issue, and stacked teaming. Stack teaming could probably be solved by implementing lobby skill balancing. I don’t know how much they’re gonna do this, but since Free PvP mode is not a priority here now, it might not happen. Some of the lag/connection issue may also be attributed to crossplay, which may not be addressed as well since player numbers for this game is dwindling and is not optimal. Other than the that, one complaint of quitters leaving and now getting banned for a few minutes may actually help the experience of the already happy SBMM crowed that is already enjoying the game again. It could be a win-win scenario, for now. One more thing, I see a lot of gamers here threatening to stop playing, quit and leave the game for good because of this new quitter’s penalty. Welp, I guess it’s time for me to say this: This is not the Airport! Bwahahahahahaha! I always wanted to say that but I couldn’t find the opportunity yet. I guess this is a perfect time now.🤣 Wave goodbye guys when you hit the Departure Area of the Forums Airport. Hehe!

Control is the least sweaty it's been in years, I'm loving SBMM
-
2 RepliesBungie kinda pointed fingers in the twab to what sector of players quit the most, reasons, reasons who knows? Lag? Map? Kda preservation?
-
Edited by Radekin: 9/20/2022 6:18:24 PMAgreed, but only because the connections are still garbage. I don't mind the SBMM part. Bungie implementing a quitter penalty to Control, of all playlists, is wildly insulting to the playerbase as Bungie is implicitly blaming us, the players, for leaving matches instead of taking responsibility for what is obviously a bad playlist design in one form or another. Not to mention the SBMM is a lagfest.
-
You should call for a boycott of pvp just on the principles. -blam!- sbmm, we playing on 8 yr old maps. Crossplay is heavily weighted so the “kid station “ has lag advantage, forced losses, unbalanced matchmaking, No loot, dead end game except iron banner.
-
Feel that the SBMM needs to return to how it was a few weeks ago I actually liked playing against sweats but its not fun when you play against sweats without any sweats in your team. It’s annoying the defeat logo every match. If SBMM is a thing I should at least have sweats on my team

2 RepliesEdited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 9/14/2022 5:46:26 AMI quit playing QuickPlay around the time stasis came out. I'll stick to trials on the weekends and iron banner once a season 👍 I'd play QuickPlay again if there was a CBMM freelance playlist.

I will still be playing. Love the sbmm.
-
15 RepliesI love sbmm and have been wanting quitter penalties for some time now. I applaud these two changes.

Control is not sweaty but ok
-
Fair fight =/= sweaty.
-
Who cares, you have one thing to complain about, 99% of players are not even on the forums, they hate getting matched with 10 tiers higher skill. Getting matched with something you can stomp 24/7 isn't the solution either, as soon as SBMM is loosely activated, the higher tiers start shedding so much salt, says a lot about the state of the game.
-
Good for you, let other's play the only fair game mode there is. No one is forcing you, hopefully SBMM will be introcuded through all crucible modes, PvP isn't something meant to be lopsided even if you think it's good for the game. In fact this is the only game where it's somehow accepted.
-
You kidding you call current control sweaty? Hell no cbmm control was sweaty all the time bungie basically said it themselves The ones not liking it are the pub stompers and that they can’t pad they pointless kda anymore
-
So if you don't like sbmm in casual gamemodes, then does that mean it would be better to have sbmm in a competitive gamemode like trials of osiris instead?
-
113 RepliesCasual for who? Bungie's data made it very clear that CBMM was not creating an experience that was remotely "casual" for people of average-or-less skill. Which is why half the player base melted away. Whereas now that SBMM has been back for only 4 weeks, Crucible numbers for yesterday were 573k....which is getting back up to where it was BEFORE CBMM was forced on the player base. No disrespect, but the player base is already voting with their feet and voting with their wallets.....and they are (once again) coming down on the side of SBMM. ...and this is why the industry as a whole is making it standard.

Personally, I'm not against leaver penalties, though I would've preferred a softer punishment system over straight up tempbanning you from it. Imo, I'd rather players that frequently ragequit be paired up with themselves in a separate pool, and leaving the pool is possible by simply playing the matches to their end enough times.

Edited by BraddyBo: 9/14/2022 11:28:55 PMIm done with pvp other than ib, trials and comp (until I hit 5500). Control is unbearable and the rotator is now really sweaty just like how “classic mix” was during the last sbmm era. The non-trials pvp population is going to fall off the cliff just like the last time sbmm was added.
-
It was definitely a stupid change in my opinion. It’s whatever though, I’m just playing clash this week, not interested in control.
-
Part of the problem was when they tightened the parameters for when shaxx would call mercy. This was done last year as a way for bungo to artificially limit the number of mercies and claim the playlist was more competitive than it was Prior to that change shaxx would end the game within 3 mins when it was a rolf stomp, now he lets it play out to the end when the other team has a 50 point lead the entire way; hence quitters At 38-4 when you know shaxx won’t call mercy for another 4 minutes what do you expect the player base is going to

5 RepliesI don't think some people see the real issue with quitter penalties. See, Bungie admitted in a TW@B that the outcomes of matches were known before the match even started, so it's not always a matter of quitting because your stats are going to tank, but more of an issue with just simply wasting your time. If you are forced to stay in a match that is so lopsided, and the algorithm knew your team was going to lose from the start, Bungie has created a condition where 100% of your time was wasted. Now if the algorithm put you in a match you weren't going to win, but it was going to be a close match the from start to finish, that's ok, because you can still have fun and grow your skills in that scenario. If its 50 to 5 in the first minute of the game, no mercy is called, and you have died 6 times without getting a kill, that's a match that should never have been forced on you to begin with.
-
Hilarious to watch. Bungie is going to stop dancing around the edge and they are going full meme game. It blows my mind how people last so long emotionally invested in this game. Watching slow drawn out realizations that bungies idea of thoughtful game design implementation is actually throw crap and the wall and see what sticks is one of my favorites. I hope bungie keeps it up because if the game they make is a cluster f at least the process is entertaining to witness.
-
Good on you for taking a stand against something you feel strongly about. If change is to occur many others will need to do the same otherwise nothing will occur. Time will tell.
-
If I join a losing match that’s getting stomped, I’m leaving every time.
-
Control casual? I don’t what playlist your playing but until the change this season it was anything but casual it was this and only this Either you were stomping the other team or you were being stomped no in between s and that was hell

Anyone want to make bets on if OP will be back in PVP game modes prior to the next season? hell.. even by next reset?
