They can't remove PvP at this late in the game. Back in the beginning of D1, this was already an issue. Time and time again, it has been proven that when players are done with the entire new PvE content, PvP is the only place that keeps this game going. Based on their track record, even if they remove the PvP aspect, Bungie cannot or is unable to release new content fast enough to keep the players interested.
