To devs: As a somewhat casual player, thank you for this year's Solstice event
I am for the most part a casual Destiny 2 player who occasionally logs on for a couple of hours at a time to do some rounds of Strikes or Gambit to mix up what I do in my free time. My main motivation for playing is to try out new guns as they come, and I'm certainly not the type of person to grind something out for countless hours. I've also seen the Solstice events for the last few years and have generally felt quite left out because getting the illuminated armor typically required a considerable amount of commitment, including Raids / Dungeons that require coordination with a fireteam.
This year's Solstice event, however, has been quite a blast for me. I felt like the objectives were diverse and accessible enough to keep me engaged and motivated to get the armor. I didn't necessarily need to do end-game content or grind countless hours, and I was finally able to earn my first seal (Flamekeeper). So to the devs who decided to simplify the Solstice process: thank you, it's made the game much more enjoyable for me. I hope this is part of a broader trend toward making the game more casual-friendly.

1 ReplyNever even talked to the old hag... haven't participated in the last two events, just simply useless putting several weeks into something that goes in the vault and gets dismantled the following year. Here's an idea, give us something useful as a reward!

I get where you are coming from. Last Solstice Event I wasn’t able to complete the glow challenges. This year was more accessible. As for seals I’m a Spicer and a Flamekeeper- that’s all I got! 🤣 For Casuals and New Lights: EAZ is EZ; the map is small and the game is short. This is the place to grind for Bright Dust, for Legendary Shards, and Cores and Engrams that have a chance to drop here. Few days left…

I thought the improvements especially the gravity cannons, helped getting around the map quickly. Not a fan of the solstice glows so I ran the event for materials only. IMO the best change was eliminating the maze of climbing through empty buildings with endless dead ends. 😀

You are DEFINITELY a solstice dev hahaha.. jkjk but seriously youre the first person to say they like the idea of having to remaster a full suit of armor on a wimb. I mean yes my intellect and resilience are op now, but like, i was busy doing other stuff and the game was just like “here put this on and go throw balls at a bonfire”… “but wait you cant throw balls at the bonfire unless you have ashes first, but still keep the armor on the whole time anyways, just shut up and do it well let you boost youre stats when…. Youre pretty much done with the event and you need it least” and then the next season will start and your artifact boost will reset so the stats in youre armor will most likely change. (Probably not but im ranting).

Edited by Joulevette12: 8/7/2022 5:59:26 PMIt was ok but the first 2 weeks was bad and tedious due to the update it's way more better but it shouldn't have released like that from the beginning knowing majority of the players have more then 1 character and next season they need to 1. Increase silver leaves from all sources 2. Allow to get max amount of leaves if you have 1 or more solstice armor equipped The event is ok but the problem is bungie make they events more tedious then it needs to be that cause quick burnout and that's not gd for a three week event Don't get me started on the event card honestly IDC I only get shaders from those events anyway but you will see this on FOTL and the Dawning sadly

It was really easy to multi task objectives this year, but the armor focusing has been crazy. Anyone benefits from choosing 30 star points.

I've never finished a set of armor either for pretty much the same reasons, I don't like pvp or raids. Despite how much easier it is this year, I still passed on it due to the fact that the skeletal season pass armor is so good that I will never remove it.

6 RepliesYo. Maybe Destiny isn't for you, then. Dumbing down events because players like YOU can't "grind" them, is stupid. Each year these events have gotten progressively worse, because Jim "I work full-time" can't put in more than 5 hrs/week into the game? Not anybodys problem but your own. Stop asking for game devs to work around YOUR life. You're more akin to an NPC than the main character. There's absolutely ZERO reason YOU should be catered to.

I’ve been busy with work but out of like the 20 some times I’ve done this even I don’t think I’ve gotten a single fallen themed one for the challenge completion so I’m kinda annoyed

Certainly not player fulfilment, otherwise why would we need a forum to say how crap certain aspects of the game are playing. Abd God love you, you're fairly new to this but Bungie nearly always -blam!- on their players. You'll grow to learn this in time if you stay long enough lmfao

1 ReplyAgreed, the event was free timers and newcomers friendly. And we actually teamed up to help teammates finish their card. I do get the more end game players would ask more harder things to achieve though.

Played Ark, Apex, and HFW instead of Destiny 2. There was literally no Reason for me play this Year's Solstice. It was so watered Down.... I guess this was a hit with Solo Players...or players who can't get Triple Hundred Stat Armor. Which really isn't hard to get, nor are they locked to Raids/Dungeons/ or Trials. Majority of mine are from World Drops and Iron Banner. Sad Bungie basically has to Give Triple Hundred Stat Armor away without Time and Grind. Just Removing the Build Experience. Like, I understand the Switching from 1 Grind to another is bad, but this just gave any player who grinds...Zero Reason to Play. It's been Nearly 19 Days since I touched Solstice. I guess it was a long time coming with the Removal of being able to Tag the Shirt, the Removal of Elemental Buffs, and a Reason to Grind Solstice to get the White Glow, and the 3 Guardian Completion Reward. If this is how Solstice will be Next Year....I guess that's another 3 Weeks I won't play. Not being a Troll, just stating my Side so Bungie can get 2 Different Feedback in 1 Place. At least there's some enjoyment. 🤷....

5 RepliesKinda wish the seal wasn’t such a handout, though. I feel like seasonal and event titles should be a different color or something. Since they’re way easier than something like a raid title. Maybe like blue or green idk.
