I shall only accept this sentiment from someone who has also played Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, and can give me a game design essay as to how BotW’s mechanics are even half as brilliant as Sakuna’s, as all these “best game ever” posts would have me believe.
Because I put 120 hours into BotW, and I still don’t see how it’s considered anything better than “Okaaaay”.
“Muh freedom” is not an acceptable answer.
You might not, but lots of other people have.
I’m not saying it’s a bad game, but it falls very firmly in the “Okaaaay” category. Like I enjoyed it well enough, but it won’t be making it onto any of my recommendation lists.
