I'm posting this on my friend's behalf; basically, his game hasn't been able to launch since the new season arrived. When he attempts to launch the game, it does show that he's playing Destiny 2 on Steam, but on his end, the Steam window that says "Preparing to launch X game" doesn't appear, and a couple of seconds later Steam says he's no longer playing Destiny.
I've been able to launch the game myself, but I've chosen to wait until he's able to launch his game so we can experience the new season together. I, unfortunately, don't know anything about the technical side of this so can't provide any information on that.
He's obviously already tried restarting his computer, which didn't fix the issue. He's also searched through a lot of threads and forums to find a solution but hasn't found anything. He also said he made a post somewhere about his problems, but I don't think it was here so I'm more or less posting here to have the issue more known.
It'd be really awesome if this was solved quickly because what he's been looking forward to all day he unexpectedly can't play, and it's made him a little bit sad, which as his friend makes me sad too.

19 RepliesEdited by BNGHelp6: 2/11/2021 10:26:09 PMEDIT: A hotfix has been deployed to Steam to resolve this issue. Please download the hotfix then completely restart Steam and try to start the game. If you're still having issues launching the game, please let me know.

May be this is interesting: https://www.bungie.net/de/Forums/Post/258265960 But if an older CPU is really the problem we have to wait for bungie to solve the problem.

Edited by DarthDilbert: 2/10/2021 2:48:00 PMSame here. Haven't been able to get the game to even start since the season update. tried a D2 reinstall and that didn't work. Made sure all my drivers are up to date along with Windows. Windows does create a crash report for the event. [edit] I ran a check disk and it came back fine. Destiny 2 still does not launch for me.

2 RepliesEdited by Panthera_63: 2/10/2021 10:56:37 AMHi, I have the same problem written above. This morning I did the steam only update but still the game doesn't start in any way. Before the update yesterday I had no problems.

2 RepliesI fixed it by going into BIOS and under advanced u can change the AES-NI to ENABLE. Then start the PC and start the game. After that, the game should launch. I hope this fixes someone's problems

I have the same issue, I've tried everything I've seen recommended. I tried restarting Steam, restarting my PC, verifying the games files, updating my drivers, reinstalling the game, reinstalling steam, running in admin, changing the compatibility mode to windows 8, deleting the steam_appid.txt file and making sure not to run as admin. Nothing has worked so far, I really hope this is sorted soon, I really want to play the new season. ;-;
