Ive been playing destiny 2 but my interest is really starting to fall off. Im thinking of going back to d1 and completing all the quests that dont require a team. What are your thoughts on destiny 2 so far?
Edit: nice to see so many of you. I have another question for you all to answer. How would you feel if they merged d1 and d2 to make 1 evolving world like they said in d2 shadowkeep vidoc?

Destiny vet here! D1 was better than D2, even though both of the games suck. This franchise's original sin will follow it to its grave! That'd be its horrible design philosophy about combining all these genres and gameplay types in an attempt to get all these radically different audiences to like the same game! They even topped it off with live service bullshit! Ya coulda catered to one audience. Ya coulda made one of the best action RPG first-person shooters. Now look at you've done, Bungo. You created a monster. Your fractured community will continue to never be happy. You keep designing yourselves into corners. Your heads will never leave the interiors of your asses. But me? I'm just lookin' forward to keepin' up for the years it has left to watch it all burn. Cuz that's what Destiny is! The organized mess! The beautiful disaster! The perfect failure!

I'm still hanging in there..... hopefully. I only got triumphs to look forward to and coordinating to finish harbinger... Idk- I wish there were minor chases I can do again. Like faction armor sets would be nice, and good roles on planetary vendor armor.

Edited by Infamous067: 1/15/2020 9:04:16 PMI loved the destiny 1 weapon balance, thats about it though. Destiny 2 has better graphics, more enemies to fight, more raids, I think at this point more exotics, dungeons, etc. If you go into a patrol in D1 the game actually felt pretty empty, on D2 you can enter a patrol and you see a ton of stuff happening like invasions, public events, enemies randomly fighting each other. Stuff like that did not happen in D1, the game is overall more alive. I cant ignore the pvp though, pvp got a ton of love back in D1 and I’m sad to see the balance we have now with the one shots every corner of a map.

I went back to D1 right before CoO and it felt weird I'd hate to see it now.

Its an awesome concept but Eververse has taken over. Im not trying to play a loot game where most of the loot is at a mtx store. I quit during the Halloween event last year that rewarded 1 scary gun from playing the game, but had 15+ items at the Eververse store for sale. That was my tipping point. I have so many fond memories of this game so Im not going to completely trash it- this just isnt the game it use to be.

I've been playing since the beta of D1 and I have to say I advise you not to go back to it. Nostalgia has this way of making everything in the past look wonderful and clean, and chopping out all the messy bits. For me both has have had their downsides and I've taken extended periods of time off from both games. (Destiny 1 shortly after my first house of wolves completion, Destiny 2 just after curse of osiris) and I really would recommend that over going back to a previous instalment of the franchise. Taking a month or 2 away and then reminding yourself why it is you chose destiny, personally only grew my love for it. TLDR Basically don't be fooled by nostalgia over what was not a perfect game. Take a break, and try to get back into it after.

I stopped playing weeks ago

I have since the beta in D1 but have played a lot less the past few months. MW to older games I haven’t played I’m on now...D2 is in a dead spot right now...also in D1 I did everything and it was better from Raids to Strikes....

The formula is fine. The game just doesn't wow me as much. I play monster Hunter world. I got iceborne 2 weeks before the safi-jiva raid. I caught up and farmed to make my gear. I'm now at the point where I'm just fine tuning my gear. It requires commitment, sure it's just I'm chasing the last 5% (the difference between having 90% dmg output to 100%) It's not as meaty as doing quests to kill/cap a new monster so I'm taking my time. That's how D2 feels to me.

2 RepliesEdited by Senor Crouch: 1/15/2020 5:51:44 PMBeta D1 Player here. Survivor of many dark ages. Exotics decrypting to blues. Xur's exotic Y2 transfer and EXP wipe. D2 is in an okay spot right now. Definitely better than when I left. I said NOPE shortly before Warmind dropped and then came back shortly before Season of the Drifter was ending. My breaking point during that time was when they changed the effects of Karnstein Armlets on my Warlock. I'm a space wizard, I don't shoot bullets, I shoot magic. So taking that last bit away from me from when the cooldown rates were so incredibly slow I was out. Some of the things I wish for Destiny 2: - Factions. I remember leveling up my faction rank like crazy cause not only to say "I'm at Dead Orbit rank 300." but that chase for those Dead Orbit shaders. And who could forget the legendary roll of Dead Orbit's Hung Jury? Also remember when your rank with a faction was proudly displayed on the UI when you'd talk to a vendor? Was super fun to try to get my rank as high as I could. I don't even think they have that any more in D2. - Strikes, done at your speed. Ever wonder why we look back on D1 strikes with such fond memories and why a lot of D2 strikes just doesn't capture that magic? One word: "Immune". In D1, most strikes were only limited to how fast you could take down enemies and bosses. No immune phases, no artificial waiting (well where bosses are concerned anyways). It felt good to be able to nuke a D1 Strike boss in seconds. Made us feel powerful and unstoppable. Guardians, by year 3, were even speedrunning through strikes and it felt good! - Nightfalls, done at your speed. What was it about D1 Nightfall Strikes that just felt so damn good? Well, again, that's easy. We spent so much time rushing through Strikes and nuking everything in our way, Nightfalls would come around and slow us way down. Such a stark contrast from the norm is going to illicit some magic. Instead of skipping through the strike, leaving grenades in our wake like a flower girl, we were forced to think about the strike's mechanics in ways that were skipped over in the Strike playlist. Never once did D1 Nightfalls artificially stop us from advancing (minus the defense objectives every now and then), merely our skill and positioning. Take any D1 Nightfall strike boss, never an immune phase, so what slowed us down? The HP gated add spawn. Get the boss too low too quickly you were now dealing with not only a boss, but 2 waves of adds. That many bullets firing on us at a Nightfall level forced us to halt attacking the boss and actually deal with the adds. Unlike D2 strikes, D1 Nightfalls never stopped us from attacking the boss, but it was definitely going to punished us for trying. Guardians making our own fate, not the game slapping "IMMUNE" onto it. - SRL. Most Guardians today don't even know what that term means nor are they even aware that Guardians used to celebrate a Mario Kart like Destiny hybrid in the City, the Cosmodrome, the Ishtar Academy, and the Reef. It was fun and something to do besides just grind grind grind grind. It was fun and silly and a hallmark of what Bungie used to be and is attempting to rekindle: Fun for the sake of fun, screw what the rules are of what is supposed to be. - Trials of Osiris. Me, personally, I never understood the appeal of Trials. I viewed it as more a sweat shop, devoutly to be avoided. lol An infuriating game mode, but I will not deny that it resonated with many of my fellow Guardians and praised as one of the greatest PvP modes of all time. Why this game mode was removed in the first place goes beyond my understanding and would be a huge boon to Destiny 2. Just some of my thoughts of what would help Destiny 2.

Destiny 1 vet here. Destiny 2 is in a better state than D1. Really no need to go back. I tried going back to D1, but it’s just so much more clunky and easier.
-
Destiny just doesn’t feel rewarding anymore.

Edited by GPappyT: 1/15/2020 5:06:33 PMLet's face it. Both games have passed their useful life expectancy. It's time for D3 or something else. Probably both. Bungie has over estimated the playerbase need for self flagellation.
-
4 RepliesHonestly if D1 had enough people in it to keep it alive I’d still be playing it.
-
I'll bet my life savings there is more D1 vets that stop by to shake their heads at the state this game is in than still play it . If another studio took over D1 where they stopped and I never heard at about D2 again it shovel money at the screen again
-
I played d1 liked it alot, but I also really like d2. One thing I wish they had was better shader customization and more loot in strikes. Also I just want 1 strike were Shaxx is the guy talking.

Yo!!!

12 RepliesDay 1 vet here. I no-lifed d1. I enjoy d2, I'm just not going to lose sleep over it

4 RepliesEdited by thatdudeEd54: 1/15/2020 3:49:53 PMIve done everything in the d1. I get on just to find nothing to do except replay activities, grind for stuff I havent acquired yet like the Kings Falls or WoTM Sparrows? Ect. Its no different to my current situation in D2.
