Bungie... I defend you and your game so often. But now I’m left wondering... am I the one who’s wrong?
I love Kraftyy. He has amazing content from trials in D1. He’s definitely a top tier player. Love him to death.
But you invited him to a community summit? A streamer who hasn’t played destiny regularly in years. Who only plays a handful of games for every expansion and then bolts. He’s literally the definition of someone who isn’t a part of the community any more. And you invited him to a COMMUNITY summit?!?
I won’t pretend to know how or why. I won’t throw out accusations of paying off and bribery. I won’t throw out endorsements and trying to use streamers to drum up business. But come on guys... anyone can see beyond this shady bullshit. You’d think a community summit would be populated by people in the damn community... not people who abandoned it.
I’m sorry... but bungie... ya -blam!-ed up on this one. 100%.
**to be clear, I never said any ninja HAD to know a steamer. I said you don’t. As someone closely affiliated with bungie and destiny, it would make sense that you are familiar with people in the loop. That’s all I was getting at. Not that you need to be omniscient about the entire community. Calm yourself guy.
**as well as there is no hate, at least from me, towards streamers. I couldn’t care less what they do or don’t do. My issue isn’t with his streaming. It’s with his total disregard for the game, yet he is still invited. That is distasteful to me. I was never “crying” about anything. Just stating facts. Do you call a plumber to fix your TV? No. So why would you have someone that plays Apex and Fortnite nonstop give you advice about destiny? There’s very little chance anything that could change to bring him back would positively impact destiny. It would only positively impact HIM.

why can't they make a poll or something else doesn't require only streamers. Streamers and sweaty PVP players are reason destiny 1 year one PVP was terrible

Edited by Lost Sols: 12/5/2019 1:34:51 PMAs someone who was fortunate enough to attend one, I agree with this completely. I honestly expected Trials to be announced yesterday and Lupo and Kraftyy to be demoing it since they're big Trials names from D1, but you are spot on about them not playing and, while this doesn't apply to all Streamers who've attended, a lot of them have had huge impacts on how the rest of us experience the game and then checked right back out again after getting what they wanted out of things. I really hoped that this was not big names that don't play going to give feedback that impacts everyone again and I'm really disappointed if that is the case, particularly if it's to give Crucible/Trials feedback when there are players like Jyelly and Miss Noodle who were top 10 in many Trials lists including games played, who have never abandoned the game or stopped playing and who help regular everyday players in Competitive modes every single week. Those are the types of players I would like to see giving feedback. Players who aren't making a living playing the game and who understand what makes it work and fun at both high tier PvP as well as for regular everyday players. I know the Summits have evolved from the one I attended and from what I understand, they're smaller with players getting a lot more opportunity to give individual thoughts on things vs being in a room of 20/40 other people and raising hands and getting a few thoughts added to the group sessions. I did have the opportunity to have some 1 on 1 talks about the game in my experience there, but when all was said and done, I didn't feel like myself or the other regular everyday players who were there had an impact on year 2 and that the size of the community footprint really weighted the influence of the feedback which was reflected in the game turning into a job with punishing investment (infusion) and RNG, and never ending leveling. I do think that season 8 has corrected a lot of things that I was disappointed with in Y2 and I don't know how much of that could be from feedback from later Summits which I know there have been many return trips from some usual voices, but I do believe there have been some everyday players invited as well and we just don't know because they don't have followings, but I do think Bungie puts too much weight in big name voices and I hope this Summit isn't going to turn out poorly for regular players down the line. Anyone on social media has seen the top PvP players giving bad takes on Crucible the last month, including comments that Destiny should be more like Halo and how much fun a certain top player had "destroying players who can't aim" in Reach the other day. Besides the fact that it's always about them wanting to farm players for views, they gave the same feedback in D1 and that's how we got vanilla D2 PvP which was the Devs listening to those players and trying to make Destiny play more like Halo with as close to 1:1 balance as a Destiny sandbox can get, and even going with Halo's 4v4 format. And everyone hated it, including and especially all the top players who are now ripping the current sandbox and asking for everything to be even like Y1 again. It's madness. They were there asking for and reveling in these changes going into Forsaken and wanting Pinnacle weapons, etc and now they're trashing them because they're not the only ones with them anymore. Anyways, bit of a long take on it, but I obviously have strong feelings on the subject and in the end agree with you. It should be players who play and know the game and are invested, and I get why big names are important to Bungie, but I don't buy that they speak for the community. They can say they speak for their followers, but their followers want whatever they tell tell them they want.

Sometimes a gamer who falls off from a game will have valuable, if not more valuable, feedback on what works/doesn't work in the game as someone who just keeps on playing. Each side has insights to give.

4 RepliesWait are they seriously pulling this shit again ? Didn't they learn last time ? They don't represent anyone at all. Incoming nerf and bad ideas.

1 ReplyEdited by Hellekeen: 12/4/2019 2:12:14 PMa community summit should be hand picked 20 people from bungie.net here that have played a considerable amount of time ON CONSOLE and some on PC.. that need to give feedback about balancing and difficulty from NORMAL casual players and not only from hardcore players on high end giant game rig/pc with no recoil, no bloom, no inventory waiting time, 60+fps, fov slider and other undeniable different things between pc and console. also they need to get a bunch of average players to discuss the GIANT issue of not having an in game LFG or any other teamfinder or clan features on console in game that would allow you to communicate in this game and to find other players to play with.. and those players can't have a huge following where everyone is eager to play with them just by snapping their fingers.. you need a bunch of guys that have the experience of looking for a decent lfg team for the raid for hours and not finding a team that either doesnt suck like hell or has requirements like 20+ clears for a normal fresh run

They're probably trying to dig up ways to bring back old players since the FTP crowd tends to be -blam!- and are playing only for the very reason that it's free. FTP people aren't spending money on Eververse because it goes against the very reason they're even playing, and they'll likely just move on to another entertaining free game when content gets thin. So they want to try to tap the old player base that was willing to spend cash. I'm completely speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't something along those lines. Or it could just be they're trying to generate buzz through streamers instead of paying for traditional advertising. It might be more cost effective to fly in and feed some streamers than to by ad time. Basically a product showcase, like the ninja said. Either way, Bungie isn't forking out cash like that without thinking about it first. They won't even pay to heat the room they do the stream from. (I'm sure it just sits and collects dust the rest of the time so it doesn't need straight HVAC ductwork, but they can still buy a couple space heaters and hide them behind furniture and off camera)

It's not a community summit for one. It's a summit for youtubers and streamers to get there way as usual an ruin the game.

Do you call a plumber to fix your TV? No. So why would you have someone that plays Apex and Fortnite nonstop give you advice about destiny?
This is not an apples to apples comparison. Kraftyy is still a person who plays video games for a living giving feedback on a video game. Your analogy is more like saying you want a plumber who specializes in toilets to fix your toilet when they are all qualified to do it.

2 RepliesHe still plays, not as much as before but hes still here. Pretty smart to bring a person who lost lots of interest and get info on what his opinion is.
-
1 ReplyIsn't it completely obvious why they are inviting Kraftyy...Trials of Osiris, (or whatever they are going to call it). Kraftyy was arguably the best Trials player in D1. I am not sure there a many more qualified to critique the latest iteration of that game mode. One thing for sure, he hasn't been invited to offer his thoughts and opinions on a bunch of new strikes!
-
1 ReplyPersonally, I don't care. If I HAD to have an opinion, I wouldn't invite any streamer who bailed. Find new content creators. Don't call your ex who left you, they already proved they ain't loyal. Let's just make awesome PvE content with deep rpg elements and do the game you always wanted to make. But if content is so hard, I guess you have to pander to PvP folks to keep you alive during content droughts.

1 ReplyBungie invited a few streamers to attend the community summit to represent us. If anyone of you think they will even come close to representing us you are mistaken. They are up there to encourage trials so they can get content, period!

1 ReplyGame is made for and catering to them. Just the way it is.

You mean to tell me that you can't provide feedback and suggest systems that may work in this game to improve it? I play Diablo the grandfather of looters. bungie can benefit by adapting foundational elements from diablo I play FF14. Bungie can learn from how this game has evolved. He was picked. So what? He's got a open mind. He plays games and expresses his experiences and provides suggestions on how to improve the game. Now all of a sudden you have a tiff so it's boycott time?

20 RepliesHonestly I think that Kraftyy or however their name is written kind of mislabeled this event as "Community Summit" (on purpose or not, I'll leave that out there). From how I perceived the previous Community Summits, or at the very least the one I've been to, they are held by Bungie in advance of a new season to collect feedback on new stuff from a wide range of different players. The Event today is held 5 days before release of Season of Dawn, and if I'm not mistaken they're invited to play/showcase new stuff (maybe Sundial) on today's stream. I doubt that this Event is held so that they can give feedback, I mean, how are Bungie going to implement the Feedback before release?? And usually those Community Summits are held in "private" and not shown to the public. So, at least in my personal opinion, I do not see this Event as a Community Summit, rather just a showcase event, and Kraftyy maybe is just really excited for it.

I think Bungie is trying to find out what people like him want out of Destiny, to cater to that mindset of gamer too.

5 Repliesstreamer bad streamer bad

3 RepliesHonestly, bringing a hardcore D1 streamer who quit D2 cold turkey would probably be a good idea. He knows what he liked and what pushed him away from D2

Why would you say you're not going to through out accusations of illegal activities and then name them to do just that?
-
The guys who are going where trials streamers in D1, krafty lupo n a few others. Wouldn't read too much into it, we know trials is coming this summer, nothing to be bothered by.
-
He was one of the biggest Trials streamers in D1. Why wouldn’t they invite him? If everyone wants Trials to come back or something similar to it why not bring back somebody who was the top streamer and then stopped playing because he was unhappy with their changes? If they are able to win him back wouldn’t that be a good sign for the direction of PvP moving forward? Stop being salty because u weren’t invited or cause ur favorite destiny player wasn’t invited.
-
2 RepliesHow is it not obvious to everyone? They aren’t going to ask him about anything going on right now, they are going to have conversations about Trials, the direction they are taking, what is part of the essential Trials experience etc. Kraftyy doesn’t need to play Destiny 2 (a game without Trials) to have an opinion about what Trials should be, especially given he’s one of the best Trials players ever. And let’s be fair, winning back Kraftyy by implementing Trials is probably part of their long-term marketing scheme lmao.
