Why are Korean players getting restricted from playing D2 from midnight till 6AM after Shadowkeep launch?

This post refers to the article updated just today, https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/47063 . In the 'Vital Information' section of the article, the updated policy says the following: " Daily Server Downtime: Players attempting to log into Destiny Guardians from their home computers will be unable to access the servers every night between midnight and 6 AM KST. Players attempting to log into Destiny Guardians from an IGR will be able to access the servers during this time. " Destiny Guardians is the way we call Destiny 2 in Korea btw. (we didn't have D1 released here so they changed the naming scheme I guess) Also for those who don't know what an IGR is, its short for an Internet Gaming Room, aka PC bangs. This 'Daily Server Downtime' restricts players who play at home specifically, not with people who play in IGRs. We (Koreans) are suspecting that this is due to the "Shutdown Policy" in Korea where people under the age of 16 are restricted from playing games after midnight, 'till 6 A.M. (Yes, this is an actual law that game companies need to force their users to obey in order to open up a server in Korea), and IGRs are forced to let out people under 18 after 10pm, so basically at midnight all the people in IGRs are over 18. We are guessing that Bungie thought if they had a server downtime for home players, it would automatically cross out the underaged players playing at that time so they wouldn't have to go through all the legal stuff in Korea. But the problem is that even adults who play in their homes are restricted by this "Daily server downtime". Why do we have to get out of our comfortable homes, get to a nearby IGR, pay for it by the hour, when we have already bought the game just like everyone else in the world? Why can't we play after midnight till 6A.M.? I'm assuming this is a HUGE misunderstanding of the Korean gaming laws from Bungie, so I'm leaving out this post for you guys to see. There's already a massive controversy around this in our gaming communities. Personally, it really sucks that I bought a 4000$ PC just to play this game at a high fps for me to get restricted from playing the game at night, even on my weekends. I really hope a Bungie official sees this and gets back to us because currently we don't have much information about this and a LOT of things need to be cleared out so we don't misunderstand what the policies actually mean. tldr; When Shadowkeep launches, Korean users are restricted from playing the game after midnight till 6 A.M. UNLESS you're playing in an IGR and this is probably Bungie misunderstanding the Korean gaming laws.

    • They aren't restricting Korean players as a whole. People still will play destiny in pc rooms all night like before if they want to. The only difference is that kids won't be aloud to do so. Also this applies to all video games and since Korea has a lot of pc rooms, and not many consoles most players have to head to the pc rooms to play, leaving the secrecy of their home. Their time is being restricted because thats the law in Korea right now. It's for school reasons, health reasons and mainly so they don't get too addicted to video games. Anyone above the age of 16, this law doesn't apply to them. It's only the younger kids that are being restricted

America needs to adopt this rule. Think about how less obese and less violent AND more productive we would become? Kudos to Korea for looking out for its citizens. One of the great nations in the world

Because Bungie are dishonorable scam artists. Look at how they are literally selling you exotic weapons/armor via ‘Yuna’ using real cash, & manipulating exotic drop rates so they hardly ever/never drop from other sources, making the game even MORE pay-to-win than it already is. This is telling of what they’d like to do in the west, and I wouldn’t be surprised if these greedy scumbags one day actually get to it. Hell, next season onwards you literally pay to get an exotic handed to you through their garbage battle pass, so arguably they’re already there. The company is too money-hungry to care about ethics, and unfortunately, foolish fanboys continue enabling them instead of pushing them to improve and keep their promises/dignity (or whatever is left of it).

I doubt Bungie is going to budge on this and I doubt it's a misinterpretation of the Korean law. This was likely a calculated move to prevent any legal issues with the Korean government. When you put the responsibility on the game developer to enforce who plays and can hold them legally responsible then it leads to this. This is why bigger government leads to more infringements on people's lives. It's not the responsibility of the government to dictate when kids can play a video. That's what parents are supposed to be for.
