No perk should ever push us to shoot anywhere except the head.
We had this with Jade Rabbit, and with the changes to magnificent howl, luna's and nf will literally be more powerful if you go for the body for your third shot. These perks shouldn't discourage headshots- we should always be encouraged to go for precision hits, no matter the situation.
Edit: For those who, in the case of Luna's and NF, are saying that it will be able to kill in 2 headshots and 1 bodyshot which makes it more forgiving/better are completely missing the point. The gun will do more damage on the third shot if you hit the body instead of the head. The gun will be able to kill from further away if you hit the body as opposed to landing all crits because of the increased damage.
So, we are literally being punished for landing all crits because we can't kill from as far away. This is completely ridiculous.

Ok, sorry for off-topic, but I'm honestly surprised no one mentioned that "shoot them in the arse!" thing.

Edited by enchantedshaft: 5/7/2019 9:25:34 PMHey I'm somewhere in between. I think the nerf goes too far and ruins it in pve, when two taps were a rarity. I like the change to a 150 rpm though because the crucible suffered because of it. It'll likely be one of the more used weapons only because of the bloom on every other hc. I say keep the 150 archetype, don't nerf the perk. If you want to further nerf it, add recoil so shot spamming isn't doable. Also, like everyone has been saying forever, get rid of bloom. Let damage drop-off do its job and don't punish players based on rng for hitting their crits. Overall something had to be done. At first I was upset because I worked my ass off for not forgotten, but I realized that it was too powerful being a 180 with range that could 3 tap. Weapon diversity is important for the game. Well see what else is happening in the next update. I know theyre making weapon changes in addition to the lh/nf nerf and im excited to have an enjoyable crucible. I'd like to see more balance in the crucible too, I don't think it's fair to see a little buddy at light level 200 facing off against 6 stacks of iron clad ballsacks who pile - drive their nuts into that blueberry for eternity

2 RepliesEveryone has had plenty of time to abuse those 2 weapons, just use something else. Some players haven’t even used a different weapon since. Sounds like great punishment for abusing the most broken primary in history of Destiny. Players would use it in a six stack vs all solo players with no Not Forgotten or Luna. That is embarrassing. I barely used mine, it was so broken, unfair, and boring. It was way to powerful and I’m glad they nerfed it the way they did. It’s still going to be powerful but won’t 2 tap. Stop crying.

Its two guns that have this kind of stuff lol. Jade Rabbit doesn’t really need the perk anyways. If it bugs you so much then use a different weapon for headshots.

19 RepliesSigh.....shooter bros....... 1. This game isn't a pure shooter. Its also a loot-based RPG. 2. That means that there is a PVE side of the game that needs to be considered. 3. Which means you have enemies that Teleport....that have powerful energy shields that don't allow you to do critical damage....or even physical shields that have the same effect. You have enemies that can go invisible....as well as those whose "crit spot" is at the end of a CHAIN that they swing around as they rush you. 4. So the point of these perks are not to "incentivize" you to shoot that the body. THEY ARE TO REDUCE THE DAMAGE PENALTY YOU PAY FOR SHOOTING AT THE HEAD AND **MISSING** OR GOING UP AGAINST AN OPPONENT WHOSE BEEN DESIGNED TO HANDICAP YOUR ABILITY TO DO CRIT DAMAGE. 5. As for LH/NF, those games were designed to break PVP...and should have never been added to the game in the first place. This is just a PUNT by Bungie. An effort to rein them in and reduce the damage they are doing to the game without having to completely BREAK them. The goal with these guns was to simply slow their TTK in the average engagement.

2 RepliesWhy? Because you say so?
The gun will do more damage on the third shot if you hit the body instead of the head.
Why do you think it'll work that way?
-
You don't know that the body shot damage will be more than head. I suspect it will be more like Recluse. Bodyshot damage and headshot damage are equal...
We should always be encouraged to go for precision hits, no matter the situation.
Sure, why don't we just turn every gun into a sniper rifle? Y'know, since apparently everything has to be a precision weapon?

2 RepliesEdited by RPColten: 5/7/2019 12:54:10 AMMagnificent Howl will be the third perk in the franchise to provide bonuses on non-precision hits? Headseeker, Jade-Rabbits intrinsic, and now the upcoming proposed change for Mag.Howl. Yeah they really need to stop with making so many gosh-darn perks that incentivize body-shots. The hand cannon archetype already innately rewards and promotes precision aiming regardless of perks. Every moment you're using a HC, regardless of the frame, you have an incentive to land precision hits. A perk that makes that aspect a little more forgiving seems pretty reasonable considering it could only technically be used to potentially further the weapons range( and allow players to deal more reliable damage to shielded or other-wise 'spongy' enemies ). We already have perks that increase a weapons range just by aiming down sights, so this doesn't seem a big deal.
-
realistically, they should of never added them in the first place because no matter what you do with them, the perk allows you to kill in 3 shots, which only the slower rate of fire cannons can do; therefore if they slowed them down too much, there perk would be redundant. and i don’t have any solutions for reworking the perk, it just doesn’t fit without being completely overpowered or completely useless, IMO

8 RepliesIf you gett two headshots with Luna’s and get a third headshot... they’re gonna die. Three crits is what’s required to kill with a 150 rpm hand cannon. Having mag Howl activate on crits is redundant if three normal headshots would already kill them. The only way it’s nerfed is when fighting Supers and in PvE. Which is kind of annoying but there’s better weapons for PvE.
-
3 RepliesThe first thing that comes to mind is consistency. 2 headshots and 1 body to kill a guardian in PVP will make NF and LH extremely forgiving. Maybe more forgiving than any other cannon. That consistency seems appropriate for a Pinnacle weapon if the design idea is consistent kills rather than fastest TTK.

5 RepliesJade rabbit perk is useless. You cant 2 body 1 headshot. And every other 150 is 3 body 1 head to kill.
-
6 RepliesWhy cant you just keep shooting them in the head? How many total crits is it going to take to defeat someone?

Headseeker on a blast furnace helps since it’s got more vertical recoil
