"They just don’t get it. Or they are purposefully refusing to get it, I don’t know which. I have yet to hear an answer to the question “If enhancement cores are removed from infusion, the problem will be ________.” They can’t fill in that blank with anything other than “infusion won’t be as impactful” which is a nonsense phrase that means effectively nothing at this point. But infusion continuing to rely on cores? I can fill in those blanks no problem with the fact that it results in slower leveling for casual players to the point where they want to quit. There’s less build diversity for everyone because no one wants to spend cores when gear is auto-outclassed every few drops, and the power cap keeps raising every few months leaving everything behind and making nothing worth investing in. Less masterworking. More time wasted chasing one more stupid currency in a game that already has dozens of them and an infinite amount of things to do. I can do this forever. And I feel like I have been."
Couldn't have said it better myself. This pig-headed, tone deaf approach to player feedback will end up killing this franchise, and the clueless heads at Bungie will have no one to blame but themselves. They can't hide behind Activision anymore, but they are still acting like they can.
I uninstalled Destiny from my PC when I got home from work last night. I have been extremely let down by the content of the Annual Pass and Bungie's we-hear-your-feedback-but-we-don't-care approach to the game as of late. I guess I might come back for Year 3... IF Bungie pulls their heads out of their asses!

“Yeah this game sucks”

And if the goal is to just flood the market with cores by increasing more and more sources of them, why do they have to exist at all?
He really did say it perfectly. I don’t understand why they bothered to add cores to begin with.

Edited by DrPhilaBole: 3/23/2019 5:16:40 AMI just call them Uninstallment Cores now.

Wow what an article its about as on point as you can get regarding enhancement cores..
-
OMG! I could not have said it better myself, and i have complained a few times about this situation in other posts. This guy hits the nail on the head, we just want the cores to go away and never return. I used to use different armour but I daren't because I'll have to grind for more cores, same for weapons I just don't like the whole economy. Let's keep your cores for masterworking items only and I am sure we will all calm down on the issue, ok?

1 ReplyAt this point in time Destiny 2 has reached an obnoxious amount of Grind and RNG. Although there are loads of activities for people to partake in, there is absolutely 0 reason to actually do any of them. Things like EP, Strikes, Nightfalls, weapon frames etc. All of this could easily have a place in the game beyond it's current weekly chore state, where we mindlessly grind out all these milestones for the same things we got last week... Just higher power... And then we can't infuse those things due to a lack of masterwork cores which in turn makes 100% of the time invested into the game left completely unrewarded. The new content is also so lackluster that the only way for Bungie to keep any kind of player base is to give them the illusion of meaning and choice while it's all actually just RNG. There is no choice in this game for ANYTHING. And it's all purposefully done so that each player is mindlessly still playing and chasing that one god roll, that one exotic, that one item stopping them from being max level, that one ornament. No one has any input on any of this and it's all left to chance. I'm sorry but if i'm going to invest countless hours into this game i want to CHOSE or at least know FOR CERTAIN what the reward for it is. I cannot even begin to explain the constant disappointment of completing every milestone each week, on each character and STILL MISSING EXOTICS. There's no kick in the teeth quite like spending an hour on a highscore nightfall just to then get a vigil of heroes helmet that i got 5 times in the last 3 hours already and the cherry on top of all of it is that you then not only have a completely pointless drop YET AGAIN but you then CANT EVEN INFUSE IT BECAUSE OF THE COST.
-
Agreed. The cores don't add anything meaningful in the grind. I don't mind grinding for light level or specific gear, but to have to grind to just update that gear is pure "filler". Pretty sad that I'm thinking of putting in more time getting my income taxes done this weekend than playing D2.
There’s less build diversity for everyone because no one wants to spend cores when gear is auto-outclassed every few drops, and the power cap keeps raising every few months leaving everything behind and making nothing worth investing in.
That, right there sums it up! They think cores make it meaningful but the reality is, it's the exact opposite... meaningless.

2 RepliesHave you checked out Division 2?

2 RepliesIf there’s nothing to chase there’s no reason to play a torturous hamster wheel of a game. I was just soloing a nightfall and got the boss to the last bar, suddenly died to the architects, then every time I tried the boss after that it refused to give me ammo. It’s a broken treadmill game and bungie want to keep doing everything in their power to deny the players what they want and avoid making more meaningful content to keep people engaged. Bungie aren’t a game developer anymore, they should quit and go make exercise equipment software. I think that’s more their mindset. -blam!- making players enjoy a game, let’s just get by on minimum everything and drip feed the content grains.

When The Master Chief Collection finally releases on PC, it's GGs for me, until they make some significant changes. I won't touch D2.

Fully agree

They have to choose to pull it out, though. Not stuff it in deeper. Sadly, I cannot disagree with anything this guy has said. This problem should have been addressed months ago, not months from now. And Bungie should have simply removed cores already.
-
Remove cores from infusion. That's all that needs to be done. Keep them for Masterworking your items, of course, but REMOVE FROM INFUSION!

1 ReplyLove his past few articles, he’s finally putting Bungie on blast for the horrible decisions they have been making. He’s probably the only one I’ve seen actually calling out Bungie on things that are questionable to say the least. Everything from where the destiny franchise is heading, what the future is, horrendous Gambit Prime gear, enhancement cores, infusion, and how the whole drip fed annual pass thing isn’t working. Check out his past articles! Great reads from a player who actually gets it and isn’t afraid of Bungie higher ups.

1 ReplyThe article pretty much sums it up. People don’t mind grinding, but flying back and forth to the tower to grab an ever increasing slew of bounties gets old fast. I just want to play! Not spend 5 hours a week in the tower!
-
2 RepliesI was very disappointed this time around trying to get power level. I got lower than my what i currently had on my helm and few other stuff. I am in week 2 and should be 700 but am not cause of their mistakes. The cores well I didn't spend any while leveling. But man what a difference it is when you actually can start infusing how much easier things become. I really hope they take away the cores as it is definitely not really helping. I am like one in a few in my clan close to 700 there is just no point to go higher if there isn't even proper content to actually use your gear on. No new raid just Reckoning T1, T2, T3 and lets be honest Xur bounties isn't bounties it is pve lore content which I found extremely lacking in any excitement or want to really do one silly quest and my reward is lore and one powerful. But still I don't even want to farm as the amount of work vs reward just isn't worth it. I just feel atm we putting so much effort in the game and not getting rewarded for it.

Edited by Helios 2117: 3/23/2019 11:23:10 PMFor me it's fundamentally about where investment is. Right now, investment tied to Cores is really focused on leveling up pieces of gear. I don't enjoy this system. I would much prefer that meaningful investment be placed on the way we customize our gear through Cores with Mods, etc... However, given that Bungie has consistently opted for a very RPG light/shallow system of customization, opportunities to invest in customization are currently quite limited. Flip the equation Bungie.
-
So enhancement cores are still a thing. I will continue not playing then. Just stopping by to see if anything's changed. Carry on.
-
Do what we did with anthem, stop playing till they fix it. It worked there.

Edited by SmokeShadow_27: 3/24/2019 2:15:20 AMHe is one of my favorite writers, when it comes to destiny stuff. This article is PERFECT. Spoken like a veteran, on behalf of everyone, from noob to Rivensbane.

Little did I know how this beta video would sum up the D2 experience....

We should boycott.

To be honost the way Bungie is handling armor is the biggest disappointment in Destiny 2 currently. First of all most armor just looks ugly compared to the Destiny 1 armor sets. And once you do find a set that you like (Reverie for example) then it is almost impossible to get all the right perks you want (hand cannon perks, heavy ammo finder etc.), And even when you do get those perks then you have to infuse them with a zillion enhancement cores. And when you finally reach that point then Bungie comes up with specialised armor for Gambit where you have to start all over again when it comes to perks and infusion. Times four.

3 RepliesPaul Tassi is always on point with all of his articles about Destiny 2. Bungie needs to invite him to the summit because he has his finger on the pulse of the community way more so than any streamer.
