This post is so ridiculous You think I, a pvp player, wants to grind for the long goodbye? mindbenders ambition? the supremacy? dust rock blues? blast furnace? retold tale? twilight oath? all of these top tier pvp weapons that are locked behind pve? I don’t, i find it boring and its kind of frustrating that all i want to do is play pvp but i have to play a bunch of pve activities to get the best weapons. But you know what, i dont complain about it. its part of the game so i play it and grind it just as i should and i think a lot of pvp mains can say the same. The fact that pve players are upset over things like headshots for ace of spades and double kills for last word is ignorance at its finest. It’s maybe 10 games of crucible, not hours upon hours of grinding forges or dreaming city or raids or nightfalls. sometimes you have to play the part of the game that you dont main for a little while for a quest. if you find that so unbearable then i dont think this game is for you. Edit: i did not expect so many people to agree with me, i was sure that this would be a very controversial reply but i am glad to see a lot of people, even pve players, seeing reason. Please continue to discuss.

 • The main difference here is that, everyone can do PvE stuff, it's far more accessible regardless of whether you find it boring or not. PvP has a far higher skill requirement to even be enjoyable. I've quit like 10 matches of PvP today because every match I'm thrown into is with stacked teams and in games that are practically finished and have already lost, and I don't want to lose too much of my progress in the quest. PvP is far more difficult for more people than PvE is, and these kinds of quest requirements just derail games and make it a worse experience for everyone. I'm not saying there doesn't need to be crucible steps, but they shouldn't punish players. When have these quests steps ever been a good idea? Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore.

 • PvP might require skill, but is far more accessable than most pve activities such as raids, nightfall, shattered throne etc.

Again for some of the BEST PVP gear & weapons...

 • You're arguing just for the sake of argument. Nightfalls are one activity, and they're not even hard, and return to orbit isn't even a default modifier, hasn't been since D1, this is PvP vs PvE all encompassing. TLW is an exotic quest, there are no exotic quests that require you to do nightfalls. Again, PvP requirements are still more difficult and less accessible. It's just not necessary to have a loss mechanic for a quest, because it does more than just punish the player doing the quest, it punishes other players in the game because you're holding back the team, and most people will quit the game if they're losing too bad because they'll lose too much progress. It's just not a good quest mechanic regardless of whether you're a pvp or pve player.

 • Raids are a part of some quest steps, the "endgame" pve content, so a simple little crucible step can't be allowed? One could argue that the steps take the same amount of time for a solo players having to find a team for the raid and grinding a handful of pvp matches

 • And yes pvp steps can be allowed but for the players that dont play crucible Simply because it is a pve based game not a pvp based game you would think that playing pvp would be an optional activity not a requirement But I'll extend an olive branch you get bungie to implement skill based matchmaking and u can put in as much pvp as u want

 • I hear ya there, personally as I play more mmo games there is a belief I consider now and again in those communities that pvp is the true end game as eventually people and power creep becomes so good that raids are a joke and are brainless activities, the only challenge remaining is to test your might against other people.. but yes balance is a thing that has long been an issue as well as match making

 • But raids are only in pve quests so what is ur point I said other than legend of acrius there is no other quest u have to do a raid for

 • There are only so many pvp steps that aren't weapon specific devs can come up with, most of the pve bits of the quest are lore based, and the dealer here is Gambit which is pve/pvp, anyhow some pve guns very efficient in pvp, but with how simple the step is (and toned down compared to other quests, especially d1) id say bungie is listening to both parties

 •
Which quest makes u raid inorder to get a gun no exotic quest except for the useless legend of acrius
Legend of Acrius is good once you get the catlus but that in a Raid I just saying

 • Yea ik that's why I said other than the acrius

 • Rat king requires a nightfall Legend of Acrius requires a raid Whisper requires a time locked pve event, and a looooot of grind for catalyst Polaris and Sleeper require a lot of pve grinding for node completions Worldline requires 35 lost memory fragments Wish-ender requires timelocked pve activity 1k voices while not a quest also required a raid Anyhow, I think a "tiny" (compared to other pvp quests and especially d1 pvp quests) is fair, bungie has made it easier as you just need a 0.5 KAD, things used to be so much worse. Regardless some pve players hate pvp, I get that, and some pvp players hate the grind of some pve content, I think bungie is being fair to both parties take it as a bit of motivation try and perform a bit better in pvp, a lot of competent pvp loadouts come from pve

 • I'm totally fine with the quest as it is but I would like the medals to be broadened I believe the medals are harder than the regression step

 • Oh dude 100% agree with medals, to get the medals people on your team have to die which goes against the simple way to win... Don't die... One medal requires you to die and kill your killer, the other is for your teammates who die which is probably the easier one

 • I never said it shouldn't be allowed, it just shouldn't have a loss mechanic that puts your progress back. I would say the same thing about any pve quest that put your progress back after a death. It's just not a fun mechanic. As I've explained before it just lessens the quality of matches in crucible. Players quit, players don't play the objective. It's not just grinding a handful of pvp matches for some people. I've played all morning and am not even halfway done the quest step.

 • I would say I'd like to keep it, it should be seen as a motivating factor pushing people to get there, a lot of top tier pvp guns come from pve, normally I'd say I'd agree to say maybe bungie could make it easier, but I hear that you need a 0.5 KAD or something to complete the quest with max amount of time, so I dunno what the issue really is, if you are running into a lot of sweats then wait a couple days for them all to get it done or just back out of matches that are being stomped, personally I don't think I'm that great but I am consistent so it took me 3 games

 • I think pvp is just too based on luck, at least for a player of my skill. A lot of top tier pvp guns come from pvp too, lunas and not forgotten are rampant with full coordinated teams, which makes it nearly impossible for me as a solo player. Waiting a couple of days will only make it worse, as everyone who finishes it will now have TLW in pvp and just make it that much harder for me to complete.

 • I've heard last word is fairly average overall, it has its place amongst the top hand cannons for sure but it isn't dominate, I believe they did a good job balance wise, anyhow I played solo as well, for lunas I solo queued to an extent picking up players in my games that I did well with (very little communication), anyhow you have some level of control with matches, you can watch the 12/12 counter and back out if it jumps quickly (6 stack) or leave matches to conserve, also maybe use a pulse for a sort of assist based loadout, if you are on PC I'd help tho I'm a bit busy until later today (EST), and yeah there are a few guns from pvp but a lot more from pve I feel like bygones, retold etc. Anyhow best of luck wrapping it up

 • Thats on the player. I'm by no means a hood player. I have a 1KD. I finished the quest step in 4 games with a Pulse Rifle picking my targets... Use Super for (Dawnblade) for 5+ kills a pop, 2-3 times a game. Its only hard (PvP in general) for those who don't play it correctly or in a way that works.

 • No, its not on the player, it's on Bungie to provide a good and fun player experience through their quest design. Why do people always think, that just because they didn't have a hard time that no one should? Your experience does not encompass the entire destiny community, maybe you had a lot of lucky games, maybe you had your own coordinated team, I don't know, but I know it's in no way similar to my experience. I've been playing all morning, have lost every match except 1, and have quit 5 other games so far because all I was doing is dying to guns I don't have like Luna's, I've probably played 15 games so far. It's already an unfair playing field with more experienced players with better weapons than I have access to. I'm a terrible pvp player, and it doesn't matter what tactics i change or whatever, i'm just not good at it, and it's just not fun to play. PvP is only hard if you're not good at PvP.
