Our Game Security Team issues an escalating series of enforcement actions twenty four hours per day, and we also issue some enforcement actions in big waves. We don't announce our enforcement actions because it gives cheaters information on how our detection works.
Since November 1st, we’ve issued enforcement actions to 1,120 players for violating our terms of service, including cheat programs, network manipulation, and DDoS. Our Game Security Team is always updating our monitoring tools to detect ever-changing attacks, and a human verifies every punishment before it is issued.
As always, if you believe to have encountered someone cheating, please use this contact form to report suspects accordingly.

Hey, quick question. Can you tell us what happens and what you do when we report someone for moderate bad connection and Severe bad connection? That way I might feel like it’s actually useful to report people and not feel like the button is a placebo.
-
Why not give cheaters a special label over their gamer tag that brands them for all to see,
-
I nominate the word 'SLAG' as the moniker to give them 👍

Dig...like the scarlet letter days.

Some people need to be shamed. Too many get to hide behind screens when they abuse other people for their own gain and/or enjoyment.

What exactly are "enforcement actions," pray tell? Are these temporary bans? Permanent bans? Account bans? Do you ever remove ranks achieved by cheaters? Or how about Triumphs and those hard to get PvP weapons like Redrix's Broadsword? But that is all moot because of one thing: since Bungiee's policy towards PvE exploits are to NOT punish players who abused them, not even remove items gained, you are DIRECTLY sanctioning cheating in PvP. If you say PvE exploits are okay, then you are de facto saying that PvP exploits/cheating is okay. You made your own bed, Bungie, but it's the players who lose.

Edited by GrundleBeans: 11/10/2018 5:39:56 AM
What exactly are "enforcement actions," pray tell?
All of the above. Restrictions, account bans, and console bans. It varies depending on what the issue is, hence why he said "enforcement actions".
Do you ever remove ranks achieved by cheaters?
No, but anyone who is restricted from Crucible permanently loses any control over their rank by default. When Trials was around, that gear was disabled during restrictions. And obviously anyone banned loses everything.

You sound like someone in a position of authority or as someone who has first hand knowledge of the inner workings of the company, so I'm sorry if I sound skeptical, but what evidence do you have to support your claims?
-
All of their punishments are described in their FAQs. For example, none of them include any mention of removing or disabling ranks and in my 4+ years on these forums no one has ever said they lost or heard of anyone losing a rank as a punishment.

i believe bungie do shit abt those cheaters. The most is few days suspension but keep everything. trash company
-
Ever considered buying dedicated servers? I mean we do not hesitate buying your product. Why are we as customers treated like crap? Is that because bungie is a cheap "S" company?
-
Edited by GrundleBeans: 11/10/2018 5:45:37 AMCost isn't the issue. They could buy them at any time with the money they have. It's the fact that their systems are not designed for use on dedicated servers and it would require a system redesign to switch, secondly dedicated servers aren't a magic cure (Blizzard games for example, have never not had cheaters or other kinds of lag issues than the kind we face), and lastly Bungie leaders can simply decide this is the direction they want to go regardless of any arguments for dedicated servers. And I think after 4 years of people trying to convince Bungie to change to dedicated servers, they're not going to suddenly change their minds the more people keep parroting the same demand.

The bans are not permanent! Have you ever banned a youtubers or streamer? Have you ever banned out right cheaters that you sponsor, how that’s right we can’t say their name for some stupid reason!!!!!!
-
Bans are absolutely permanent, however just like any other game developer in the world, Bungie can't stop a banned person from going out and getting another console or creating a new account. Not even PC games are capable of iron clad permanent banning.
-
Sorry as usual people talking when they know nothing. Bungie “banned” 4,000 players 2 years ago for 6 months and let them all return!!!! But thx for your lack of understanding....
-
Edited by GrundleBeans: 11/11/2018 6:14:14 PMUh no they didn’t. They banned 400, not 4000, pc players for cheat tools and only 4 people had their accounts restored because of being mistakenly flagged during the beta. I know because I was on the forums the day it happened and read all the news coverage and angry posts. The rest did not get their accounts back. They wouldn’t call it a ban if it was only temporary and they’ve never done any restrictions for that many months.
-
Sorry bud you’re wrong, it’s ok your wrong. 4,000 and were banned and were all let back. You think maybe there was another group gee maybe. Relax bud it’s people know things you don’t it’s ok learn to live with it, Bungie sucks it’s ok.
-
Edited by GrundleBeans: 11/11/2018 7:43:23 PMPlease stop trying to talk completely out of your ass. The first set of people who were banned on PC was 400 and there are articles all over that you can check that fact on. What, if any evidence do you have that it was 4000 or any evidence that all those people were let back in 6 months later? Or ANY months later for that matter. Go ahead and show some facts. List some names or posts people made where they said they were banned and they are currently still playing.
-
Go away weirdo why are you so defensive bud? Relax and move on. Btw I never said anything about pc bud. You should take all your angry defensive anger and research data before you open your mouth. There are over 50 news articles of Bungie players being banned and restated bud. I’m done responding to you so please move on and go look yourself as I don’t give a shit and have a life rather than playing games with you....
-
Get a life dude. You’re making things up just to argue, and for what?
-
You guys need to send the nightmare after them in crucible.
You guys need to send the nightmare after them in crucible.
I LOLed at that one! Imagine that come running at you, not jogging, RUNNING! And he can't be killed! And he stays and doesn't attack the team that didn't cheat!
You know, I really Love this idea!
