Trials or Comp ?

Trials of Osiris (gamestyle and reward system)

Comp (gamestyle and reward system)

So i read a post where someone stated that they missed when trials was the only comp mode. I read it and thought about it an agreed. Do you miss when Trials of Osiris(not the nine that was trash) was the main comp focus. You played only on weekends. It had adept rewards with multiple good guns(doctrine, blind perdition, burning eye) bounties that earned you trials gear. And flawless that gave you ornaments and a adept weapon. Or do you favor comp and the main focus. 2 pinnacle weapons. 1 obtainable by good players(luna). 1 only for the 1% of the destiny population(not forgotten). Both weapons are head and shoulders better than everything else(ttk wise) in game. Questlines and a point system instead of a card. I personally liked trials. It was the idea of having fun for an afternoon. Going flawless hoping to get Doctrine with counterbalance(never got it). It didn't seem so soul sucking like the comp playlist. In the forums i see alot of people like comp. I have yet to actually meet a person in the wild or in game that feels that way.

  • Osiris all the way...pinacle weapons system is a garbage and sleazy way to try to get people to keep playing even though they don’t end up doing it...it caters to not the 1% but the 1% of the 1%

  • I prefer having a seasonal ranking system over trials only being on weekends

  • I liked having both. Comp being the stepping stone and trials being for the best. I had things to aspire to be.

    • Comp is fantastic now with its reward system and will hopefully keep upping its pinnacle weapon reward

I still think there is room for both. One of the issues when Trials was the only competitive mode was there was no matchmaking, and it was so drastically different from normal crucible. Now competitive is a middle ground. It's not as extreme as trials, and mostly weeds out the casual PvP player that just wants powerful weekly's. There are other problems with Trials however since it rewards streak play. Essentially the amount of toxic games goes up dramatically in this format from a paid carry to ddos attacks. I'm not sure what the actual answer is to Trials, but I do think comp needs to stay.
