1 ReplyYes, they are awful! I get the idea, they want to be more inclusive and accommodate everyone, yet they made it impossible to create a male looking avatar.
-
1 ReplyWell I can make a pretty hot girl but good luck trying to make a manly man. I think the faces are too feminine. And the hair selection sucks. I'm content with what I came up with tho
-
No kidding, I set it up and instantly regretted it. I honestly had to set it back to my old Xbox avatar in order to keep myself from puking.

1 ReplyIt’s not that they’re “bad” it’s that This is what Xbox was trying so hard to accomplish over the past year Avatars Not a massive list of exclusive games not anything crazy just avatars... this is why I’m upset A years worth of hoping Xbox picks itself up and nah no big surprises just disappointment. I doubt anyone will use the feature enough to warrant the mass amount of time wasted creating it.

1 ReplyEdited by Upperclass Bum: 10/15/2018 9:22:22 PMThey're not that terrible. Bad, but not "omfg kill it with black fire" bad. My complaints are as follows: • There's no neutral "mood". Facial expressions, stance and idle animations are all tied to the "mood" you select. The things that the default option does are stupid, but I can deal or at least I would if it wasn't making it have this annoying looking shit grin... My next "best" option was to go with the sloth one • Microsoft continues to show how out of touch they are with their black customers. The hairstyles are ass. My xbox avatar is the only time I really bother with trying to make a semi accurate representation of myself. None of the styles are fitting for me. The "afro" ones just look terrible, I don't have dreads yet, so that's a no. I just with the comb back one or whatever since I have been tying my hair back lately. • This one is more of a personal issue, but getting my skin tone (both my natural and tanned color) is hard for me. Either too light to the point of looking white or too damn dark. The result ends up making my character look Hispanic (not that there's anything wrong with that). I've had a few people that have seen my avatar before knowing what I was thinking I was Mexican. • Not being able to use shit I bought with the old avatars. I don't know much when it comes to coding or anything else like that, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to update the old stuff to make it usable with the new avatars.

I’m curious as to why they updated it. I haven’t really seen an avatar since 360
-
*Watches update features video on YouTube* *Updates Xbone* *Mashes "Skip" button when avatar options pop up*
-
1 ReplyXbox: "new avatars, you wanna make one?" Me: "or, I could just skip that and load up a game since I'm content with the gamer picture I've got set."
-
They’re not bad, but they do need some work. I just covered up my face by using that futuristic helmet. Honestly looks just as good as my previous one lol
-
I decided to completely randomize my avatar. From what they would start off looking like, all the way to if they had a robotic arm or not lol.
-
one of the body types has no neck whatsoever. I'll just stick to my odst Xbox avatar
-
I hate how no matter what I do, my character still looks Asian or partly Asian at the very least. It bugs the hell out of me. And I hate how all of the buff, muscular bodies have no necks (this bugs me cause I am also muscular and buff but I do have a neck), while all the skinny bodies do have necks.
-
<Everything I would want on the body minus wings... face could use some work. Slap some sunglasses on the -blam!- and forget the app exists.>

Gay as hell

Only issue I have with these avatars are they don't do anything. You don't see them, there isn't an indie game that involves them (Anyone remember avatar laser war, or castle miner?) You just build them up and leave them alone.
-
I still use my og one because of my halo outfit.
-
Yea, I went back to my old one
-
1 ReplyI had the beta app for the new avatars from the Xbox preview program. I kid you not, some of the pre made avatars they let you choose from were wearing dresses with facial hair.
-
1 ReplyI don't mind them. The problem for me is they don't show up anywhere. Microsoft should make it like the 360 avatars where the community page showed a profile picture and an avatar.

2 RepliesEdited by ShadowAngel9228: 10/16/2018 12:37:55 AMPeople mess with that stuff? Edit: well damn. I got on my Xbox and I guess they make you setup the thing so I guess you do have to mess with it lol. I stick to my original avatar, didn't even care to look at the new stuff, especially since I saw this thread before I got on.
-
Better than the original avatars
-
They are terrible.
-
2 RepliesI did a half-assed attempt at making mine last night, yeah they just look bad imo.. It just seems like a waste of time having them, like what even is the point? It just reminds me of the old dress up games my sister used to play
-
They are kinda awful. No matter what I do I can’t keep my avatar from looking like he’s overweight. I mean, I made him look like me... but as soon as I put a t-shirt on him he looks like he’s smuggling tube socks. Eh well...

Most people just use custom pictures anyway, which really should be a feature on every platform.
