9 months after release, when Forsaken is in presale, Bungie admits to Juggler

For those who haven't read it yet, in an interview with FPS news, Project Lead Scott Taylor admitted to the juggler mechanic in Destiny 2. What is "Juggler": The juggler mechanic basically has the goal, to make you use all of your weapons equally. So when you kill with a kinetic gun, you will most likely drop energy ammo, and vice versa. https://gamerant.com/destiny-2-juggler-forsaken/ Bungie basically had to talk about it now, to dispel the concerns about ammo scarcity with the upcoming weapon slot changes. Of course no details are given, it just wouldn't be Bungie without a scoop of useless secrecy on top - but my concern is not about the mechanic itself anyway. What bothers me, and what also keeps me from spending money on your products again, is your complete lack of transparency and honesty, unless you want to sell us something. What kept you guys from just explaining the mechanic shortly after launch, when players realized it's still a thing in Destiny 2? Not that this is or was the biggest issue with your game, but for 9 months people were discussing this, or even went to the lengths of testing it, writing down their results in spreadsheets. You could have saved those people hours of wasted time, if you were just upfront and honest about your game for once. Yet, you weren't. This detail clearly shows me what is wrong with your company, the complete lack of transparency on your end. Sure, you are disgruntled about your community, because they're so "ungrateful", or they're "jerks", but did you ever wonder why that is? It's YOUR behavior that breeds this kind of community. If you don't respect your customers enough to be honest with them, it should be no surprise that they also won't respect you anymore at some point.

  • I'm pretty ticked off because I just realized that if you shoot enemies in the head, they die quicker. I've been shooting them in the legs and groin for I don't know how long. They didn't even bother to put this in the manual. Actually, now that I think about it, the game didn't even come with a manual. Actually, now that I think about it more, no video game has come with a manual in fifteen years. What year is it now? I'm old and confused and cranky. Okay, nap time.

      • For those who are wondering where this info is coming from it was from a E3 interview. https://fpsjp.net/archives/312193
EAA : The weapon slot is changed, but if you are fighting with the same weapon in the current Destiny 2, the weapon's bullet will not fall. Is the specification still alive on the new system? Mr. Scott : I'm going to talk more about the mechanism and balance of weapons slots in the summer, so I can not say it is clear now, but the specifications themselves will be changed.
Of course this is a google translation and I did watch the video interview but it cut off right at the question before this one. Was running EP yesterday with some clanmates and 3 different times this was brought up and each time people said that Juggler was being removed. Or that Bungie came right out and said there was a hidden jugular mechanic. Interpet the interview however you want. To me this a lot to do about nothing.

            • Known about it from day one and just work around it. Some weapons give more ammo than others. It's just another mechanic in the game you have to learn. No biggie.

            • Did they have to admit to it for us to know it was always there since D2's release?

            • Bungie will never release any info or admit to anything until after its been proven by other players. Why? Simply because 1 They really dont give a fuck about players in general And 2 While they dont care for the individual players, they care greatly for played time. So if people want to waste hours proving something in destiny, regardless of the outcome all those wasted hours make destiny and bungie seem more popular.

              • So, I’ve actually been playing D1 again fresh and I’ve been shocked at how LITTLE power ammo there is in this game. I guess they balanced it by having synths, but still I don’t ever feel super short on power ammo in D2 honestly.

                • Again...they are forcing us to play the game as they want. Many times I just want to test many Primary or Special or Heavy weapons with juggler and no ammo synth it become annoying. Why not just let player decide how they want to play the game. Dishonest developer will make players never trust them anymore. We all know about the D2 Juggler, PVP Rigged games...etc.

                • It was pretty obvious, they dont need to spoonfeed us every bit of information. Plus, lots of people like to test mechanics.

                • This happened to a degree in normal D1 as well. In fact there was an area loading glitch that would prevent one type of ammo from dropping at all until certain things happened. I spent a lot of time on the Dreadnaught patrol area for testing new weapons, and about one in 15 times that I loaded in there, no primary ammo would drop. Then magically, after being out of it for quite some time, it would begin. Never figured out why. But as has been stated, this system was blatantly obvious to anyone that was paying attention to their ammo reserves by the time you got your light back in the vanilla story missions. I'm not sure where the big shock reaction is coming from...most of us probably already knew or suspected this from the beginning.

                • This is news? It took me 10min to figure this out. Just switch guns and kill an enemy to get ammo for your main. Anyone who plays with any sort of regularity should have had this figured out a long long time ago

                  • I'm just curious what happened to the "all powerful enemies will drop power ammo" that was active at release. Now it's only 1 in every 5 that will maybe drop some power ammo...

I've mentioned this a few times too. Bungie seem to cling to un-necessary secrecy and systems that seem to be designed to hinder your progress. They removed ammo synths so WHY introduce universal juggler mechanics. It was obvious from the beta that ammo was having issues due to this hidden system. A system that I and a few others immediately recognised as Juggler from D1. People simply didn't believe us when we mentioned it. Choosing instead to think we were simply being scrub players for running out of ammo. Lo and behold the game proper comes out and they have to immediately update ammo drops because people keep running out of ammo. There are the following systems that Bungie are obsessed with hiding facts about still in the game:- 1. Percentages for 3oC, Catalyst drops, rng for strike loot, nightfall loot, eververse engrams and raid drops. Basically every rng feature has zero exposure to players as to what it is doing, why or even when. 2. Damage cap implementation and enemy scaling. Why have power if everything scales to your level. You are literally making zero progress. 3. Matchmaking rules. We still have zero idea how we even get matched with other players in PvP. 4. A glory system that is skewed towards the 10% of players who actually play stacked teams instead of the 90% who regularly roll solo. There are more such as XP booster effects etc. etc. but, the upshot of it is that the game is basically a black box and Bungie only firefight their decisions when they get caught with their hands in the cookie Jar. A recent example being the fact that nightfall rewards were not dropping at all for non Warmind nightfalls but, it took some dedicated members of the player base grinding for 30+ hours straight before bungie even admitted there was an issue. Edit: What the nightfall drop example should tell everyone is that the rng set for nightfall and catalyst drops is intentionally so low as to make them virtually impossible to get. If this was not the case Bungie would have already been aware of the issue because of so few people getting the drops. Instead they simply thought the god awful drop rate was working as intended! So we can deduce from this that the god awful drop rate IS actually deliberate! And YES! The only reason to do something like this is to try to keep you on the hamster wheel right up until the moment you snap and quit the game! At that point, when enough of you look like you are about to snap, I guarantee they will step in and up the drop rates for all rng rewards.

In a couple of days I saw there was juggler active after release. So I played likewise and never had trouble with ammo. People are just stupid and like to qq about everything.
