Did Resputin Fight the Darkness Directly?

Title. In one of the grimoire Cards, I think it was Mystery 1 or 2, we get a log of I believe it is Resputin, or another Warmind (though it never specified which). The log refers to the Darkness as IT (As a lot of other entries do) and says:
Everything died but I survived and learned from it. From IT.
Also
It is alone and IT is strong and IT won. Even over the gardener and she held power beyond me but the gardener did not shrug and make herself alone. IT always wins.
The Gardener is the Traveler, as made apparent elsewhere. The quote where it says “I survived” could mean he’s the last and only warmind to survive. Let me know what you think. Also I’m not sure if this was already common sense to know.

      • He fought the Darkness for a while because that was what he was programmed to do. But at some unknown point he determined that the Darkness couldn't be defeated and instead decided to hide under a rock until this whole thing blew over.

        • Nah, he got his boys and uncle Jack to roll squad deep on the darkness using a UV light and poison gas. Also, they turned the darkness into a little bitch and made it call them daddy.

        • Yes. He fought IT directly. Something about the "unstolen fire sigularity" or something of the sort. He shot something at IT and it didn't even leave a mark. The darkness proceeded to eat the blossoms of a garden and pin their names across the stars. ...or something like that. Been a while since I've read that card.

          • Here’s the thing. Remember that mission back in D1 with the best soundtrack of all the missions, The Last Array? In that missions, we allowed Rasputin to branch out and reach every other array on every other planet in the System. So Rasputin himself is on pretty much every planet. That being said, I think the Grimoire cards were written and set in the past, back when Rasputin supposedly destroyed the Traveler to stop the Darkness from coming. I’m not sure if he fought it directly, but he definitely took some drastic measures to stop it completely and then buried himself in the depths of Old Russia until we woke him.

            • <He saw it coming, defied his programming, added another program in case the Traveler left, left that, ditched humanity, saw every other Warmind fight the Darkness and die, then went to sleep. The Queen of Final Shapes never found him and he eventually woke up and is now starting to reactivate his things.>

              • Well, according to Bungie, the darkness doesn't exist anymore.

                • At the very least he/it knows HOW to beat it and I wouldn’t be surprised if the guardians are the way to do so or part of the plan. That being said I doubt we will see anything about this plan in D2 as this seems to be a game that will focus more on the light, Traveler, Guardians, etc.

                • Resputin just hates everyone he has no ally of the light nor the dark only, when he needs us does he call one us evedent in both d1 and d2 (music boxes on io), its also highly likely that he is made enemies of the other warminds such as charlemagne, so in the "gods of marz" dlc because charley is supposed to be dead, but what if he isnt, what if the traveler awakening also reactivated the corrupted warmind, and it unleashes a new strain of siva, who knows it could be blue this time siva may not be tied to a single strain or color, perhaps og siva was red because of resputin. but i doubt bungie is going to put that kind of effort into changing the hue its probs still gonna be red
