They should be energy, like Fighting Lion with its limited ammunition. It's a shame that snipers are so bad. If they are supposed to be in the power slot, then they better be powerful. EVerything goes agianst their playstyle, with radical flinch and small ass maps.
Either make sniper flinch regular primary flinch or move the weapon type to Energy.

6 RepliesBecause PVP players bitched and moaned about OHK weapons in the Crucible for Destiny 1s entire LIFE. So every weapon that has the ability to deliver a OHK in PVP....has been put in the "power slot"...so that its access to ammo in PVP could be severely restricted. The "energy slot" was created to give Crucible players a way to counter supers. ..then the whole enchilada was shoved down the throat of the PVE side of the game.
-
Ask the D1 PVP players who bitched about them nonstop.
-
There is only one reason......to keep players from using them in PvP. Too many whiners complained about them in D1, so they were neutered by lumping them in slot where they would be all but useless. They only exist to give the illusion that you have weapon options, when you really don't.

9 RepliesReading these forums is just more and more toxic..some of these comments feel like the epitome of why bungie dumbed down D2 so much for casual gamers.. People stand on two sides of the fence with this, and it's a ridiculous argument. "Oh, but remember the sniper meta in D1!", one side says..Lol mind you that's bullshit. Once they tweaked flinch far enough on snipers it opened far more playing field for scouts and pulses to stop the average sniper from getting the drop on you. Hand cannons, even through the bloom saga of issues, we're still always viable to pvp. HROF autos used correctly could stop shotgunners dead in their tracks, along with hand cannons. This fukcing community was and always will be full of cry baby ass gamers that want to drain everything good out of Destiny. I stand on the opposite side of the fence. The balance with primary, secondary and heavy slots were just fine. TTKs were fukcing fine. It's amazing to all you dumbasses that teamshotting is so heavy in 4v4 and then condone it by saying it's because of small maps. Anyone that remembers Anomaly from D1 with the fact that it was 6v6 knows that's bullshit. Thanks for painting a game for pussies.

1 ReplyBecause ineffective players couldn't overcome. So sandbox director Jon Weisenewski put them all in the power slow in an effort to guarantee outcome. Destiny 2 is practically a Marxist epic. Everyone gets a small equal amount of space magic.

8 RepliesEdited by Kage Verix: 1/25/2018 11:52:33 PMOk so you want a sniper for the energy slot? Ok, it's going to be a slow firing, bolt action, high impact model exotic. Weapon has a 1 shot clip and is reloaded between shots. Huntsman In PvE, it can be effective because its exotic effect. Big Game Hunter*: Precision damage with Huntsman increases each time you deal precision damage to the same enemy until that enemy dies. *If you reload the weapon with effects like hunter dodge, rally barricade, and warlock reload boots rate of fire does not change due to a overheated effect that lasts exactly as long as it would take to reload the weapon. In PVP, it will take 2 precision shots to kill otherwise 3 body shots to kill. The Time to kill will be similar to a scout with similar stats.

1 ReplySnipers defy all logic when it comes to slot and damage output, typical Bungie right? Watching an Argos video, the Maestro-46 did just a hair under 30k per shot and one shot from Sins of the Past did a little over 132k (Datto video where everyone shot one rocket from Sins/Curtain Call/Classic for comparison). So the 14 shots from Maestro equal just over 3 rockets. How does make sense that a weapon that zooms in making it harder to use in most Bungie length combat engagements, flinches like crazy, and a missed crit is 1/5th the damage does almost half the output of a rocket launcher in the same slot. It doesn't, this was Bungie stripping the 1hks out of PvP through the special slot and making sure body shots couldn't 1hk. I don't think they'll make any moves on sniper, other than maybe upping ammo capacity in PvE. Anything else would change PvP too much from what they tried to make it.

1 ReplyEdited by Nazo: 1/30/2018 1:41:41 AMIf sniper rifles were to be energy weapons, then fusion rifles should be energy weapons too. I mean, fusion rifles are energy-based weapons. As long as shotguns stay in the heavy weapon slot, then it would be fine if snipers could be in the energy slot (or what should be the special weapon slot).

5 RepliesHmm been one-shotted in crucible by sniper rifle, so dunno that might be the reason??

To avoid camping Gg bungie

It's 1HKO potential is the only reason it's still tied to being a Power Weapon...

3 Replies2.5 times more people play pve than pvp. why balance a game for the minority ??
-
You feel validated now you little girl? I hate to tell you but killing two of the 4 enemy teammates every time I do die is far from mediocre. You’re mediocre and I don’t even have to check your stats to know. D2 sucks and if you’re going to take my stats from that garbage game then who cares. Broken ass team shooting pike of poop. So you keep throwing money at the screw and will enjoy the 4 other titles I’m playing.
-
Because they have the POWER to oneshot.
-
18 Repliesuhmmm no thanks. Any weapon that is capable of a OHK is in the powerslot and rightfully so. Dont need everyone to be running around team shotting with sniper rifles.
-
3 RepliesBecause some of the feedback we gave apparently was "dying in one shot is frustrating" Thus why abilities and several weapons were made less available or outright removed.
-
Because casual little snowflakes whine and cry, and those are the people bungie mistakenly listen to. Why do you think D2 is garbage and going down the drain? Because bungie tried and failed to make a game to appeal to casuals and the new players. Now the game is screwed and they better think quick on how to fix it.
-
3 Repliescuz cmon your special weapons were one hits lol i mean i love sniping as much as the next guy but man it totally deserves a spot in the power weapon. Keep it there lol
-
You can thank D1 for that. With the sniper head magnetism and infinite ammo in D1 it created multiple different metas where all you did was snipe. Same with shotguns. With their absurd close up power and infinite ammo it created multiple different metas where all you did was run around shotgun-sliding. I don’t see a reasonable fix for them. Bungie is painted into a corner on this. If you switch slots to special, you unleash the plague. If you buff their damage, you release the plague with oneshot body shot snipers. Since Bungie refuses to separate balance for pve and pve, there’s no viable solution. This can best be viewed as a cautionary tale to other developers that if you have a pve and pvp element in your game, balanced must be made separately.
-
2 RepliesI don't see anyone using snipers anymore, and the moment I get one I dismantle it. They feel useless and weak now.
-
3 RepliesLeave it be. There are bigger issues than this. It’s fine to keep snipers & shotguns where they are. The solution is simple to lessen teamshooting: Bigger maps & spread apart spawn points. Of course, D2 doesn’t have the former. Ever wonder why it’s 4v4 not 6v6 anymore? Exactly.
-
5 RepliesDear idiots, A rocket launcher that can "One Hit Kill" your ass by hitting you in the ass is not equal in power to a "One Hit Kill" your ass sniper that can only do so with a precision head shot. You all that complained for snipers and shotguns to be nerfed ruined Destiny 2 and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope you are having fun being able to run around like a moron team shooting other morons and having a nice long ttk so that when you're getting shot you can stop, look at your radar, see where the bullets are coming from, run the other way to your team and let them kill the guy. Destiny 2 PvP is easy mode and it's garbage.
-
4 RepliesYou ask a valid question. Ask Luke Smith and Jon Wyzniewski, they seem to think it’s FANTASTIC! In my opinion they need to go.
-
Because if they were in energy people would complain they are too powerful. There’s no scenario where everyone is happy.

Just switch back to the D1 system. I've been playing a ton of D1 PvP over the last couple of weeks and been having more fun than I have in D2 PvP since CoO dropped.
