I thought this game (no matter how shite it is at the moment) was supposed to be a First Person Shooter. SO SHOOT SH!T If ya don’t like busting a cap in a space aliens arse then go try running around the EDZ a few times.
Edit: AND DON’T START A STRIKE IF YOU INTEND TO STAND THERE LIKE A STATUE AND DO FUK ALL.

Edited by GrundleBeans: 1/16/2018 1:58:58 AMPeople tend to play a strike once to get the full experience. After that, it's just repetitive, so why waste time on shooting stuff when you know you can skip all those enemies and your goal is to get the rewards? There's nothing actually making you kill as a requirement or benefit (like strike scoring did). So until there is, people are going to continue to rush to do strikes as fast as they can. Personally the only reason I do any strikes at all in D2 has been for milestones and getting required materials for the prophecies. Otherwise there's practically no point to them beyond your first run through each strike. The quality/light of rewards isn't higher than running around in public spaces, there's no special strike-specific loot, no bonus or separate rewards for your performance... The reasons to play strikes are pretty few, so why waste more time than is necessary to complete them?

3 RepliesI run through every group of enemies I don't need to fight to progress. You're the scrub who stays behind and makes the strike take 3x as long.

9 RepliesEdited by bilbo t baginzz: 1/14/2018 3:49:10 AMYe nah im not a 4 year old kid who thinks running the same strike a million times is still fun after the 3rd time doing it. If theres parts i can skip then ill be skipping them and id even go as far as to run ahead and die on purpose to drag other scrubs forward. You dont get rewarded for killing things during the strike, only killing the end boss.

I just wrapped up my last prophecy weapon and got the ghost. Unless something changes I doubt I'll touch strikes in D2 again. Not because how others play them, I couldn't care less if you want to run ahead or shoot everything in sight. The strikes are mind numbingly boring. Better loot at the end isn't going to fix that. I'm back to running D1 strikes to shoot stuff if I want to kill some time and have a bit of fun. The modifier's and all the different weapons and armor to choose from to match what you're doing make it fun and interesting for me. As for D2 strikes, as some have pointed out, just run them like it's a solo mission with 2 helper bots. You get matched with a different team every strike anyway. Which is another issue that bugs the crap out of me.
-
4 RepliesI used to run. Now if they run, I sit down and let them do all the work, drawing me forward for the boss fight if they make it there. No resses, nothing.
-
Why am I gonna waste my time on trash mobs in patrol areas if there's a boss 10 yards away that i can get two tokens and a blue from...
-
1 ReplyI'll be honest that I actually gave a little cheer when I got the last Paradox Amplifier to drop - it wasn't because I was about get the last Lost Prophecy weapon, but knowing that I no longer had to run strikes for any extend period of time.
-
I run. I skip patrol areas or, in the case of mercury, skip the platforms.... I average 120 + kills per strike with an average of 50 + orbs created for my team and 40 ish assists... give or take in stats depending how like minded the team is. I do not leave teammates behind, but I am not holding a players hand that lazily walks through patrol areas punching light ads in the face(always see this with a lagging behind player).. So my question is, what are staying behind to kill? I just can not picture what you are talking about with “being left behind” in any strike outside of the mercury strikes and crash.
-
Because if I'm grinding strikes, I'm doing it for the rewards. Not to kill everything. That's what a raid is for.

Edited by Impurity41: 1/16/2018 12:20:59 AMI think my favorite thing to do is to run through as fast as possible WHILE killing all required enemies as fast as I can. It’s awesome. You look awesome and feel like a badass. It’s still faster playing like that then the slow pokes. I played the mars strike with 2 randoms and killed everything as fast as I could and I was 5 minutes ahead of them. The timing is an exaggeration but they were really far away. I’m thinking, “I killed everything, why are you guys so slow.” If that was you and the people that play like you, then Jesus you guys need to find your legs.
-
If they run I run more and further and make it a point to out run and out not shoot shit them. If they stay together and kill everything I do too. Adapt.
-
I dance like a lill fairy till we reach the boss, then I go All Rowdy Rowdy Piper on his ass.

Sadly this is how it's always been. Now with the moronic timer in the nightfall it's worse as everyone uses the strikes as a test run to learn the system. It doesn't help that bungie hit materials for crafting in the strikes at a horrifically low drop level so everyone wants to just get it over with.

you must be new to this game, people have always speed run strikes. the best suggestion is go in with 2 people who want to play as you do, problem solved.
I thought this game (no matter how shite it is at the moment) was supposed to be a First Person Shooter. SO PLAY THE GAME THE WAY I WANT YOU TO PLAY IT OR GTFO!
Fixed it for ya 😉

9 RepliesYou play the game for the game play (so do I). Other people mainly play for the loot/rewards. So running past the enemies means they get to the rewards faster. I hear your frustration though. If you love the gameplay, getting stuck with selfish speed runners sucks the fun out of the experience for you. Forcing you to abandon your fun, or get stick fighting content for three as a solo. Just go to orbit and comeback rather than staying with randoms forcing you to play the game in ways you don’t find fun.
-
3 RepliesI’ll try and see what others are doing and adjust to suit, but what really gets my goat is the idiots who have no intention of playing as a team. There’s nothing worse than 2 of you trying to restock ammo and 1 idiot who then triggers next section and pulls you through. Fair enough if people are down, but when people are still up, they’re just being a$$hats.
-
Well we used to run them, for a chance at randomly rolled weapons and armour from chests. Now? No i have no idea why you'd even play them.
-
It's not a big deal to me either way. I play strikes to complete the milestones as well as for the fun of shooting stuff. If someone wants to speedrun the strike, I can do that too. Or I'll shoot stuff and let them pull me through. Sometimes speed running is fun but usually I kill everything. But it really doesn't matter because if I didn't get to shoot enough stuff, I can run another strike. Right?
-
Because I CHOOSE to and if you don't like that then tough.
-
People are only running them for the materials so why bother taking your time? You should be complaining to Bungie that strikes are repetitive and boring.
-
The strikes are desigend to be speedran. Why stay and shoot mobs? I don't need XP for anything (bright engrams? -blam!- that), they won't drop anything, You get your reward regardless ... better be over with as soon as possible ... if you want to shoot things go and do heroic events ... I have all prophecy weapons and 3 characters to 335 so I don't do strikes or nightfall, or play crussible ... or do raids ... I don't play D2 at all as of recently ... there is looooong time untill 2019 when D2 will be playable ... so better be thankfull there are still people who run through strikes otherwise you will be all by yourself ...

Unless you have a fireteam of friends that you can go into strikes with I’m afraid you’re just going to have to grit your teeth and get on with it.

Vanguard issue strike mission to execute high value enemy target. So if I see a strike boss from tower Id pop the mofos head with a sniper, not running on the ground thru a bunch of minions to check out boss ass. It makes a lot of sense to reach the strike boss asap and execute the order. You are the one missing the picture here.
-
shoot what you have to and ignore what you don't need to kill, otherwise the strikes take far too long for the rewards they give. most parts of strikes can be skipped (especially the infinite forest ones) and until the strike rewards are changed to match the time spent and strike scoring returns, this will be how most people run the strikes.

Depends on my mood while I'm playing if I was enjoying myself especially in D1 I would kill everything because I enjoyed the way D1 played and I would think about what this place might have been with the Original story and not the sht show that exists in D1 and D2 currently. (D1 got better towards the end but still it is really just meh) If I got a duplicate strike or I was working on a bounty or quest or w/e I will say if you are just trying to get through the strike as fast as possible I might ask why you feel the need to force your way through that activity if you are enjoying it. I might understand a speedrun but I don't see the point as the enemies in regular strikes are no threat and running past them isn't hard and not really accomplishing anything.
