Is anyone really surprised Bungie hid The Dawning items all behind the Eververse?

Bungie, shame on you. This is one of the most blatant money grabs. I hope this is the nail in your lying, greedy coffin.

I'll have to let you know half of the stuff you can earn (guaranteed) is in the daily gifts. Not to mention the occasional Dawning boons you and other people can obtain and use randomly in-game. The guy who bought 100$ worth of Dawning Engrams is an idiot. You can earn most of the stuff fairly easily in-game. So quit yapping about Eververse.

    • What, you mean the completely non-compulsory store that you get items from for free by simply playing the game? The store that has a currency that can be obtained if you trash all of the cosmetic items that you get from those same, COMPLETELY FREE engrams? Yes, such a huge rip off.

        • You have the daily gift giving quests that can give you dawning loot like the sword, class items, ships, sparrows, ghosts, shaders and more. These arent tied to the eververse store so your thread is nothing more than a false narrative.

              • I got a sparrow from a short Dawning quest. Bought the Warlock robes with Silver dust from dismantling shaders. It's a non-issue, really. So many better things to hate. Rotating crucible for example.

                • You can get absolutely everything completely free of charge. Do the daily gift quests for Dawning rewards. 21 times per char = 63 Dawning gear/Shader/ship/ghost/emote packages if you grind for it. Not to mention we all have bright dust by playing the game and everything will be sold for dust for free. Not to mention ~10 extra Dawning engrams that can be reobtained with each reset over 3 weeks. It’s fair.

                  • All of this whining and complaining is completely overblown. After only 2 days of playing, I've received numerous items aplenty just by playing the game.

                    • sad thing is i have a little over 5000 silver and I've had that before dawning even came out. mainly because I don't want anything eververse sells so I dismantle it. It's sad that games have become like this. I watch good games lose some of the best players because of not only microtransactions, but also people selling maxed out characters. This was in Everquest (otherwise known as Evercrack) sadly it died a very slow death and the company finally pulled the plug and put it out of it's misery. Everquest 2 is also falling down this path. I wish they would just put out the dlc's so i can finish this game and leave. since I was dumb enough to buy the pass. It's sad to see good games being ruined by the instant gratification crowd.

                      • Who cares at this point. There is nothing worth having in this socialist turd of a game. Apparently the demographic they were after was the doodlejump mobile gaming crowd. Bizzar half assed lot they are.

Devils advocate: If they didn't put the new stuff in Eververse, would there be new stuff? Isn't that what the Dawning is? Bungie makes new stuff, then they try to sell you that stuff. You can earn stuff by playing but you're probally not going to earn a complete set of armor for all your characters and that is incentive for you to gamble your money to get the complete set. Without that there's no incentive for Bungie to spend the time and money making new stuff. Right? Without Eververse there is no Dawning gear. Dawning gear only exists to sell silver and get you to gamble to complete the set. Because they can get more money getting you to buy stuff you don't want trying to get the stuff you do want. What's the most they can charge for a Dawning set, five bucks, maybe ten? Put that set in a gambling loot box system and fools will pay $100+. That's more than the game costs!

                        • Fan Boy excuses to defend Bungie: 1. "Give them some time, the game is just now getting its legs..." 2. "It's only cosmetic. You don't have to spend money on micro transactions." 3. "It's only the first Dawning for D2....." 4. "I'm having fun with the the game.....pew...pewpew...pew....." 5. "Relax, it's only been a few months." 6. "They will fix things in the next update/DLC." 7. "I don't care, I just want to shoot stuff."

                          • They did the same thing Year 3 Festival of the Lost (Last Festival). You had to buy Eververse Packages to get that years goodies. Playing the game gave you the previous years’s consumables.

Nope, not surprised at all. With that job posting that Bungie has gone to great lengths to try to hide, they all-but telegraphed that this is the entire direction and future for the Destiny franchise. Next Destiny 2 DLC: $20 USD on Xbox LIVE "Destiny 2: Story Missions are available from Tess for 4500 Silver each!"
