Why is the Cult of Osiris the trusted people to revive Sagira?

This really bugged me, and kind of felt like lazy writing or possibly another victim of a haphazardly constructed story. The mission where you take Sagira's shell through the EDZ to the Osiris Cult outpost to have them revive her. First of all, why are those Osiris Followers the most capable people for reviving a dormant ghost? Shouldn't this be a job for someone like, I don't know, a vanguard technician? Someone that works with ghosts regularly? Maybe one of the vendors that works with ghosts, i.e. a ghost shell supplier, would make more sense? And certainly someone that Ikora doesn't think is batshit insane and would much more realistically trust them to revive the ghost with all the secrets of Osiris's whereabouts for the last handful of years? I mean, just because these people were the Followers of Osiris doesn't mean they would know the first thing about reviving a dormant ghost simply because it was Osiris's ghost. It doesn't make sense. ALSO. Why did they conveniently have a pedestal of modified Vex tech perfectly crafted to fit Sagira ready to and waiting to revive her? Did they know she was dormant and needed to be revived? There's no way we should be expected to believe they could have built that thing in the time between us telling brother vance we had Sagira and us taking her to the outpost. It was like 20 minutes. Is this just a mission we're supposed to gloss over and not ask questions about? If there is an answer, they really needed to explain it better in the campaign because even after playing through it 3 times the way it unfolds in the game makes very little logical sense to me. I felt like they meant to have an awesome story here, but the whole thing got chopped up and repurposed just before launch for whatever reason. Like, possibly when Osiris threw Sagira through the portal she wound up stuck centuries ago back in time, before the traveler had ever arrived, hence why her light instantly went out (like a cell phone out of range or something). And her shell was found when the first explorers went to Mercury, or by Osiris's followers a really long time ago and they had been working on building a machine to revive her ever since. Something like that maybe?

  • Idk. I was more distracted by the fact that every dead follower in there was an exo. God forbid Bungie show an actual human death. I was far more frustrated on how Ikora just opened the door.

    • I think the more likely scenario is this: Osiris made the modified vex tech machine our Guardian used to revive Segira, because it's the same machine he used to make her custom shell in the first place. The Followers were merely safeguarding it for his eventual return.

      • Those guys are nobodies that are like a demented fan club. Most likely they hunted out all of his secret places and bragged about it to ikora. She just knows that they would know where osiris kept his stuff.

      • I guess it sort of makes sense. There's a lot we don't know about Ghosts.

In General Warlocks are the masters of time and space. Osiris in particular with stolen Vex tech is able to see different realities in the Infinite Forrest. I don’t think it would be too much of a stretch for Osiris to go back to the past and tell Brother Vance and the other unnamed members of his cult to prepare for the near death of Sagira with a means to resurrect her. Your Guardian is the fulfillment of many Osiris prophecies. The missing part of Destiny 2 storyline is why was Osiris exiled. Was it because of time travel with Vex tech? Was it because he may have foretold the first and second fall of the Last City? Our Enceladus Listening post just intercepted an Osiris lore update at the following link. A new lore comic book will be available in the future https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46542

        • They broke Vance’s cannon. They made him a creepy idiot. He was suppose to notify Osiris of a fire-team that passed the Trials Flawlessly.

        • Brother Vance and his kult were never designed to be just "Fanbois" in the first place, this was just a last minute change ..

        • In answer to your first point: because no one wanted to pay Tess 200 silver to get a new shell from her. The rest of it... yea. Pretty bad plot wise. It doesn’t even seem like osiris’s fanclub is even made of guardians, just a bunch of ordinary people that Vance probably conned into following him with the promise of free space magic like a guardian.

          • Remember this is the cult of Osiris. They care only about Osiris and anything related to him. It would be fitting they would have a pedestal waiting as Brother Vance knew Osiris was missing and needed assistance. Not only that, the pedestal obviously would fit Sagira perfectly because Osiris only has one ghost which makes the design of the pedestal very simple.... gotta remember the only person who knows Osiris better than anyone else is Ikora so they would know what Osiris's ghost looks like. Lastly the Osiris followers didn't revive Sagira, it was our ghost because even if the followers were alive they clearly had no skills required to revive the ghost (which makes sense since the only thing that knows a ghost better than anything else is another ghost). But the most important fact is that Ikora didn't know what we were going until we were there(Vance is a right sneaky bastard he is). Anyhooo those are my thoughts

            • I doubt there is anyone who really knows how to revive a ghost. They're not Earth tech, they were made by the Traveler using its Light. The Speaker might have some knowledge as he collected dead ghost, and Osiris was his student, primed to take over his role one day. There certainly unlikely to be any technicians, and certainly no vendor who could repair a ghost. Dead ghosts generally can't be resurrected. The Osiris cultists are those who have poured over his books more than anyone else, probably including Ikora. Looking at the device it was built for Sagira, probably by Osiris himself.

              • because the machine's design was from Osiris. the radio tower is a receiver, or something, for Osiris. So he is communicating outward from the forest. Osiris was exiled from the tower so that only leaves the cult for him to communicate with.
