I may be alone in this subject but nightfall use to fun. You could take your time and progress with a group of friends talking and having a good time. Now it feels more like a job and a rush job with some modifiers. I hope bungie can add in the next few patches to remove the time limit or at least make it where it is not a rush job. If bungie wants us to stay around, they need to make things like nightfall more enjoyable.
Edit: Thank you guardian's for all your input. It is great to see so many new ideas to make the NF more fun. It is also nice to see many of you being polite about it and not so negative on a post.

I feel like the timer is a forced mod to make sure we play the nightfall how bungie wants it to be played. In D1, I would run nightfalls with a friend (no 3rd) and we would meticulously run through the strike and have fun (even with the ROI 30 min timer). With that said, the D2 nightfall is a different animal when compared to D1...fewer choices on how to approach an activity. I think that sums up D2 vis a vis D1

Edited by iHazHumongousFungus: 12/1/2017 11:20:01 AMIt hasn't ever been fun for me. [The timer hasn't ever been fun, I mean. D1 non-timer Nightfalls were great fun.]
-
Agreed...get rid of the timer especially since many of the final enemies go into hiding every time they take damage!
-
At the start of D2, I was totally against this but yah the timer is more annoying than it is challenging.
-
Agree. Rushing it isn’t what nf should be about. Should be challenging enough without a timer.

9 RepliesOne of the worst decisions ever. That and revive tokens on Normal raid. They went too far on notmal nightfalls and raids. Most people did it once and said screw this.
-
Agreed. Now I haven't played D2 in a about a month but I recall trying the nightfall with some friends once or twice...met with the timer and said goodbye. Absolutely no fun factor at all.
-
Bulletsponges and timed dungeons are the two laziest designchoices an onlinegame can make. I HATE them, in every game.

1 ReplyI'm not happy with the timer. In fact, my team and I don't play the nightfall anymore due to the timer. We have loved Destiny since it first came out 3+ years ago and were daily players. But our fireteam members are OLD!! In our group, we have a 71 year old, a 52 year old and a 47 year old playing so we are not as fast and agile as the 20- and 30-something players. So, no, until the timers go away (as well as getting improvements on other issues), we won't be playing Destiny 2 anymore.
-
1 ReplyYup. I won't play nightfall with a time limit. What made nightfalls fun for me was the intense firefights and utter chaos. If you needed to take your foot off the gas and rethink your tactics you could.
-
4 RepliesYup it sucks. 3 things I did religiously in D1.: Nightfall, strikes, raid. 3 things I don't do in d2: nightfall, strikes, raid.
-
Agreed... It should be fun.. timer is lazy and makes it more like work. I already have a job.
-
Agreed. You have my vote. I’d rather take an hour and strategize against bullet sponges than spending an hour repeatedly trying to beat the clock instead of the boss and coming out empty. It’s more frustrating than fun at this point.
-
I HATE IT
-
Agreed. I don't think they (Bungie) get it, the timer is not fun. The timer maybe fun once or twice, then it's just a chore getting through, especially with it being on both levels, once every couple of months would be OK to mix things up again, put the D1 Y1 return to orbit mechanic in their a few times, just make it extremely difficult a few times, a bit of variation would be great. The rewards need to compliment a completion aswell, not 3 rares, GLIMMER and Tokens, or a glowing neck from prestige.
-
1 ReplyI haven't done a single Nightfall because I don't find the time limit fun. I don't want to run past enemies in normal Strikes and I'm not going to play a Nightfall where I feel pressured to do it.
-
I’m going to lmao when we log on Tuesday and Heroic strikes has a timer!!!!
-
2 RepliesPlease don't remove the timer based on a few players (I imagine very casual, undergeared and lacking knowledge).... the timer is what makes the nightfall fun!
-
3 RepliesI do not mind a time limit on Nightfalls, it adds a sense of urgency, now that the fear of being bumped back to orbit has gone. Provided that the time limit is a simple clock, with small amounts of time recovered from killing minions, I do not have a problem with it. What I do have a problem with, is jumping through hoops, or searching around for pointless time-extending baubles.
-
I think it should be rotated out, EVERY Nightfall shouldn't be timed.
-
I haven’t done a nightfall since d2 started I did every nightfall in d1 I can’t stand how they changed it wish they would have gone back to the original nightfall I don’t trust bungie on anything
-
I've done it a few times, once to achieve the Rat King quest (so not worth it - the gun is garbage)......and aside 'Powerful Gear' it's just seems to be a speed through, beat the timer, with no thought or tactics to skilfully fight your way through as a fire team (unlike D1 with the modifiers, burn & definite need for a Defender bubble or two)

6 RepliesEdited by PapaHeavy2: 12/1/2017 12:37:32 PMGet up in the morning, take the 8:15 to the city. Rush around to get all your work done, All governed by the almighty clock. Pick the kids up at 6pm, drop them off at soccer, pick them back up at 8. Finally sit down to relax and play a game only to find I’m under the clock again. No, I do not like timers. It’s a cheap and easy way to add difficulty. Does anyone remember omnigul with arc, better yet rainbow burn, in D1........not exactly “easy” I don’t understand why they changed what wasn’t broken especially after neutering our supers and our weapons. We do WAY less damage now compared to D1, yet Bungie though a time limit was a good idea.......another DUH to add to the rather significant list of mistakes made on D2 P.S Omnigul arc lightswitch health no regen juggler

6 RepliesHate it...and the rushed sense of artificial difficulty that it creates. Haven't played it since Week 3.
-
Timer sucks. It's lame. No fun. I used to do do nightfall all the time in D1. I've done about 3 or 4 in D2. It just isn't fun to do.
