Who is not happy with time limit on nightfall?

I may be alone in this subject but nightfall use to fun. You could take your time and progress with a group of friends talking and having a good time. Now it feels more like a job and a rush job with some modifiers. I hope bungie can add in the next few patches to remove the time limit or at least make it where it is not a rush job. If bungie wants us to stay around, they need to make things like nightfall more enjoyable. Edit: Thank you guardian's for all your input. It is great to see so many new ideas to make the NF more fun. It is also nice to see many of you being polite about it and not so negative on a post.

  • I don't like that it is in the regular nightfall. I would be totally fine if it was only in prestige nightfall cuss that is supposed to be more difficult.

    • Agreed, I wouldn't mind if it was a random roll but every week meh... Dude, I'm 30 with a toddler and wife. When I game, I just want to relax and play at my own pace, if it takes me an hour to complete the nightfall, whatever, I'm just here to have fun.

      • All these people in the comment section seem to think that artificial difficulty=actual difficulty. Seriously, you lot should all go play other games that have difficulty setting and you will see vast differences such as: Increase damage to players Decreased damage to enemies Increased enemy health Changes in attack patterns Enemies having new attacks Increased number of enemies. More powerful units of enemy factions. Increase in enemy attack intervals. New Mechanics to over come. Putting a timer on anything is just lazy and usually just cheapens the experience. I would rather have something that feels like I am having a battle than just "Nightfall: Olympic Runner Edition", but then again this whole game seems to built around a revolving door logic where they want people to get in, get their shit, and get back out.

      • I always hate timers on MP content. It ruins an otherwise good game experience, turning it in to a mad dash against the clock. Look at Xcom as an example. Xcom EU/EW had no mission timers and players loved the tactical nature of the combat. Xcom 2 comes around and many missions feature arbitrary time limits forcing players to rush. The games fanbase had a meltdown, and a mod came out to remove the timers within a week. Never add timers unless its an essential part of the storyline. All your doing is forcing a specific playstyle on people who don't want to play that way. A timer could easily be added as a mission specific item, or wildcard option in selection. But to make it universal and enforced just makes things frustrating and causes friction between players for no valid reason.

      • I miss year one nightfalls. Yeah they were hella hard but it made it so much more satisfying when you finally completed them. The simple fact that I used to have to dedicate a solid 2-3 hours to complete the nightfall each week and now your forced to rush through it in 20-30min is a MAJOR flaw. The enemies aren't even strong and when you get caught out by the timer (which barely ever happens once your max power) it just feels like you've been cheated. Seriously I cant believe these idiots made motha-blam!-ing HALO!!!! Activision and EA ruin every game developer they do business with, with their -blam!-ing corporate greed. -blam!- you bungo and -blam!- you Activision.

        • It's not that the nightfall timer is a terrible idea, but that it is part of the equation ever single week. I would love to see bungie bring back some of the old school modifiers, things like lightswitch, elemental burns (the only modifier with it so far is prism) and even return to orbit upon full fire team deaths. I think one of the saddest parts of D2 is the removal of elemental burns, in particular since we now have an entire weapon slot dedicated to elemental damage.

          • I think the timer should only be a modifier like all the others and gets swapped out for other ones each week. Then it’d be more fun.
only If was paired with the right other modifiers though...
• The timer is honestly the best thing about nightfalls. - It makes it very clear to you if you're not ready to do the nightfall yet by showing you how far off you are rather than letting you endlessly wipe retry on the final hard part like the d1 nightfalls would do. - It introduces a lot of interesting choices and chance to improve your time not only through just gitting gud at aiming or grinding gear for another week but by planning and strategizing with your friends what is the most time efficient strategy for that particular nightfall. - You know how long a nightfall attempt will take and can plan it into your schedule rather than variable amounts of the darkness consumed you screens. - No more darkness consuming you for screwing up once and getting your team killed is a really nice chance of pace for a hard activity like that. - Without the timer there wouldn't be much incentive to talk to your friends about how to improve, you'd just soldier on until you've completed it. The main problem here is that it's a part of the weekly powerful gear and anything that is a part of the weekly powerful gear everybody expects to be able to do without any effort or forethought since it's the main way of levelling your character beyond max level. It's unfortunate but maybe there is some other reward for this really fun activity that could be given so the people who only want to do it for the easy powerful gear can do something else instead. Also, nightfall difficulties really need to be increased on PC. Ps4 nightfall is probably harder than prestige nightfall is on PC and that's just wrong. PC Nightfall is such a breeze that even when playing with randoms without a mic the timer never is an issue.

              • Me. It's far too long, making it fairly pointless. Please reduce the amount of time so that it actually feels like a challenge. 👍

                • I'm fine with it. It makes the endgame content difficult like it should be. It shouldn't be a cakewalk like the community thinks it should. I would only want it gone if bungie returns it to how it was in d1 y1 when it booted you to orbit if everyone died. Keep it a challenge

W-WHUUUUU? The endgame activity is DIFFICULT now? How dare Bungie add a challenging mechanic?

                  • If you remove the time aspect of it, the whole thing becomes pointless. Nightfall is a harder version of a strike, both in enemies but also in time. The time is there to pressure people in making the right decisions, to push themselves to aim better and kill faster. Imagine a raid without time. Where is the challenge? You have unlimited time to kill councilors in the throne room. Or the time you have to kill the dogs, or the time you have to DPS the lanters in the baths. See what I am getting at? Time is part of the challenge, practice in strikes if you find it too difficult. If you just feel that it is a rush, do strikes, they reward the same. No pressure added.

Same loot from many other sources 8. Would have to find 2 other people still playing D2 Reasons to do nightfall: 1. Glowing head

Only 11.9% of PlayStation 4 players have beaten a Prestige Nightfall(and/or Raid) and (Holy Shit) only 7.87% of Xbox One players have beaten the Prestige Nightfall(and/or Raid). Apparently, there is a HUGE majority of players who hate the way the Nightfall is now. It's just lazy! All the cool modifiers we had in Destiny 1 Nightfalls and in Destiny 2 all they could come up with are timers?? Give me a damn break. AAA developer, huh?
