We appreciate the feedback. We are monitoring all of the comments and suggestions regarding the new Shader system.
Luke has put out a response that gives some more information on Shaders.
Shaders are earned through gameplay: leveling, chests, engrams, vendors. We expect you’ll be flush w/ Shaders as you continue to play.
When you reach level 20, Shaders will drop more often: vendor rewards, destination play and endgame activities.
Shaders are now an ongoing reward for playing. Customization will inspire gameplay. Each planet has unique armor and Shader rewards.
With D2, we want statements like "I want to run the Raid, Trials, or go back to Titan to get more of its Shader" to be possible.
Lol proof bungie could not care less about player feedback lol they are always making changes no one asked for and refusing to admit they are bad. Running a raid for a shader lol what a load of crap.

Edited by Kabr the Legionless: 10/23/2017 4:55:05 PMOne of the many problems with this system is there is no way of telling where a certain shader comes from. When Im out on patrol somewhere and I get a shader out of a chest I don't always pay attention to which shader I just got. At least have a tab or something for the shaders to tell us where they came from and how to get them so we can try to earn the ones we want... Also applying shaders costs way too much glimmer...
-
That is absolutely horrible! Nobody wants to run the raid, trails...etc. just for some shaders. For God sake bungie don't f'up Destiny 2 from the start by ignoring your community. Almost 100,000 people have agreed with this post on here and on Reddit we couldn't possibly send a louder signal!! We are making your jobs incredibly easy by 100K of us literally writing out how to improve the game.

I'm a Destiny 1 day 1 vet I've been there through it all and the shader system in D1 was ok. Granted it didn't give you options of coloring your gun but they at least we're there when you wanted them. Why should I have to HOPE that I get my favorite shader now and once I do get it be afraid of applying it to my gear when that gear my not be the right one for the activity I'm doing. Bungie please put the old shader system and the new one together somehow because it's bullshit that they are consumables
-
In D1 our clan would all run chatter white for VoG raids, Glow hoo for crota etc. Now that's not possible. Leave shades as drops like they are but make them perma instead of consumable. It's really that easy.
-
Edited by mma hoodie: 9/11/2017 9:03:09 AMLegendary shaders should be gained from heroic public events, nightfalls, bright engrams, trails, iron banner, and raids , legendary shaders should be non consumable but you only get one for each completion of said activity. So for example if you want to have a full set of the raid shader you'll have to complete the raid 5 times, you'll be able to take these shaders off and use them on what ever you want without them being consumed I think this would balance out the shader concern while keeping the current shader system relevant.

Edited by Kaitsja: 9/11/2017 8:03:09 AMWhile Luke's statement is nice and all, it should only apply to Uncommon and Rare Shaders. Legendary Shaders should never be consumables. Personally, I like the idea of consumable shaders but there are a few exceptions that need to be added. First exception is Eververse-exclusive shaders, these should never be consumable. Why? Because it costs real money, that's why. Second exception is Legendary shaders. Some of these shaders are really nice but are also really hard to obtain and no-one wants to grind for a cosmetic item. I swear the higher ups at Bungie don't even play their own game. They just sit back, call it perfect and laugh about the woes of the community.

idiot statement

"I want to run the Raid, Trials, or go back to Titan to get more of its Shader" He has to be the only person who feels this way..
-
"I want to run the Raid, Trials, or go back to Titan to get more of its Shader" He has to be the only person who feels this way..
Yeah he must and then on top of that there's the whole RNG thing along with said shader. You might complete the activity that the shader you want drops from but you still may not get it
-
With D2, we want statements like "I want to run the Raid, Trials, or go back to Titan to get more of its Shader" to be possible.
Literally no one says that. People run raids over again for the chance of unique armor and weapons, not to grind a bunch of copies of the same shader. That would be the most miserable reason to go do something a second time.

Has it occurred to you that as a provider of a service, your job isn't to tell people what you want, your job is to listen to people when you tell you what they want? Literally, what you just stated, was "Here's a quote where I tell you we don't care what you want". You want to sell something from Eververse? Fine. Hell, you did a lot of it in d1. You're being told people are not okay with your frankly diseased financial model and they want it changed... Change it. Or face the consequences. As it stands... This game did not go over as well as you want people to think. You know it didn't. We know it didn't. Just announce that you're working on a system where once you have assigned a shader to a specific item, that shader will remain attached as a selectable shader on that item as long as you own it. Say the Pone Patrol scout rifle. Once you apply a shader to it, as long as you don't break that gun down, you can reaply that shader any time you want... Maybe set a mex of 10 shaders per item. That will go a long way to solving the problem because at least then people don't feel like they're being deliberately -blam!-. The fact remains, you're going to have to do something. You and the other board members can cry big fat salty tears about it all you want but people are proving to not be okay with it and you're going to have to address it in a way more meaningful then saying "get use to it" or "we don't care". Because you need to care if you want to make money.

Oh n it's just soooooo simple to rectify. Keep new system (though please allow us to preview our guardians as a whole with up to, potentially 5 different shaders, instead of just 1 close up piece at a time) but make the shaders permanent again. Done. Wonderful. We have a more detailed customisation system, and now we can use these awesome shaders on all our already grinded armour n weapons n ships n sparrows n ghosts without the fear of losing them n having to start the grind aaaaaaall over again for another shader of the same colour for that really nice piece of armour we've just grinded for....well you get the idea. Oh n wanting the community to be happy to grind away for a consumable, would be much more sincere if said consumable wasn't then placed within eververse. For future reference.
-
You want us to do these things for more shaders? Is the raid gonna be so crap, that the best thing we can hope for is grinding for a consumable shader?!
-
I love the new shader system that allows for a more detailed personalization. I just don't wanna see them inside my Eververse loot taking space from other objects of interest... like the armour for example. I want that armor but I didn't get a piece after opening almost 10 packages :'|

Edited by Ambo: 9/10/2017 4:21:22 AMLuke *throws money at screen* shouldn't be in charge. Fire him.

Luke is dumb.
-
-blam!- off luke
-
The exact thing I said to myself as I read his little statement.
-
That is a literal admission that it was done just to keep us grinding. It amounts to telling us all to -blam!- off. I'd say I expected better, but this is the guy who wanted us to throw money at the screen so
-
I must be the minority, because I have no problems with how shaders are earned. I have a ton without buying anything from Eververse. Ive even bought (with bright dust) shaders from my free bright engrams you get when you would have leveled up after 20, with breaking down unwanted legendary stuff. Its really not that hard.. its really not worth all this complaining.
-
Edited by EARWAK3R: 9/9/2017 4:53:42 AMLukes response just makes him look worse and like a liar. Because we know 100 percent that the reason shaders are single use is to entice more eververse sales. It just is. It is absolutely not because luke wants us to say "oh hey lets go to titan and farm more of that shader" as per the PR response. We loved D1's shader system. We loved putting in work to get hard to get shaders like raid boss shaders, tom shader etc that we could swap at will without fear of running out and having to either pay or grind levels to try get again. But you guys already know that. You are listening. Thats why you took one of our favorite things from D1and monetized it for D2. I love the game, i buy every dlc. I buy silver now and again. I never criticise bungie, heck i defend you guys very often. But i cant defend this.
-
Not a response.. that does not sound like something that will happen. New shader system is wack jack.
-
Pardon me, but this isn't a response, but a PR BS. If anybody, at Bungie, thinks that people are going to happily run raids, over and over again, for shaders, then you are wrong. Then again, what do I know about humanity? There are Destiny 2 fanboys who defend p2p connection, claiming it to be better than actual dedicated servers.
-
He completely ignores the issues people have with shaders being RNG based single use cosmetics. As usual, his response is just a big "fvck you" to the community.
