I have flashbacks to Nam almost every waking moment. I saw good men go from fearless warriors to lifeless corpses in mere seconds. Wait for response. If you look at her expectantly, she will feel as if she is the awkward one creating an uncomfortable silence, so she will respond. Her response: (for example) I paint sometimes. Echo: You paint? Wait for response again. Her response: (For example) Yeah, mainly watercolors Share her challenges: Wow, was that difficult to learn? She answers: A little bit, detail is hard with watercolor Discover motivation: What made you get into painting? Her response: I always liked the look of really good flowers painted in watercolor Discover motivation further: What was your inspiration, something you saw as a kid maybe? She talks about what got her into painting. Quick date (At a mall, or bookstore with a coffee shop) I was about to grab a coffee, we should and and chat. (At a coffee shop) May I? Gesture to open chair as you sit. Continue talking to her. (If she isn't sitting) Let's grab a seat (lead her to a table and sit with her) Sense of urgency: (instead of quick date) I gotta get going.
