lol @ the salty people that have been quoting pre order numbers of less than 200k.
Activision just trolled them.

So, how many of those preorders were immediately canceled after the person got the beta code? How many times did people preorder for beta codes? There was no shortage of people streaming and giving away codes. Also, how many preorders cancelled after the beta? I'd like to see the real current numbers ad how they compare to what they released in that link.

10 RepliesEdited by Dezzie19: 8/4/2017 12:13:27 PMIt's a shame the numbers are rigged. For D1 they left out legacy console numbers. For D2 they added pc numbers and didnt count all the cancellations. Abracadabra, shi t smells like roses.

More pre-orders = bigger backlash when D2 launches
-
It's expected that a sequel to an initial game would out-perform its predecessor in terms of pre-sales. That doesn't mean it has met Bungie's or Activision's expectations in total pre-sale numbers, and of course they're going to put a positive spin on it regardless of whatever numbers the pre-sales are. A better measure of success would be the total sales pre and post. No doubt D2 is already successful from a profit standpoint, but it remains to be seen how successful it will be compared to D1.
Does it really matter anyway? The last thing I'll be thinking about when I'm shooting aliens faces on September 6th is Activision's share price and the current sales figures for D2. I'll let Bungie worry about that shit. I'm an gamer after all. Not a shareholder.
I post this every time I see a post like this, it doesn't really matter.

1 ReplyEdited by RavenousLD3341: 8/4/2017 1:40:23 PMLet me quote the article you cited.
Additionally, pre-orders for the sequel have eclipsed those of the first game, although no specific figures or further comparisons were offered.
So.... My game sales have eclipsed my previous games sales as well. #winning

1 ReplyWhen i look at the money invested on Destiny 2 articles lately , i believe Activision is simply lying.
-
2 RepliesI believe Activision like I believe state jobs numbers.....
-
2 RepliesPc didn't preorder destiny 1. Now they can. Of course it's selling so much and it's so good lol. I would even bet the last gen preorders of D1 weren't counted, and now we have 9 posts like this.
-
2 RepliesThank you for this post. It allowed me to do a mass muting of the I hate destiny sheeple.

12 RepliesVGchartz is just guessing since 2005 even with their "formula" they can hit it on the money or be way off orbit. I'd rather trust direct from the source. ~TheGreatNike

8 RepliesTo those going to say it's false: It's an investor summary, not a shady tracking website. If it's wrong it's fraud. You can sue Activision if you want. Just don't blame it on me when you lose.

Additionally, pre-orders for the sequel have eclipsed those of the first game, although no specific figures or further comparisons were offered.
If there is anything I've learned in business, if the numbers are good, you give the numbers, if they are bad you use vague spin words like eclipsed.

2 RepliesActivision made 1.6 billiom dollars in the last quarter, and we still don't have dedicated servers in 2017.
-
Yep and Hillary was leading in the polls but got crushed in the election. No real numbers given by activision.
-
10 RepliesEdited by AlamoCity: 8/4/2017 4:04:20 PMThe D2 surpass the D1 numbers only because D2 is available on PC. Take that out of the equation and D2 is a flop in terms of pre-order numbers. Plus, I doubt Activision takes cancelled pre-orders in their numbers.
-
Real numbers? Oh yeah, there aren't any
-
I really don't care. And I really don't believe their claim on numbers.
-
1 ReplyBS. These are copy's sold to retailers not pre orders.
-
44 RepliesShow me a stat that shows how many caneled after the demo... Thats right they dont show that lol epic fail
-
2 RepliesCould litterally care less about pre orders. Never really cared for pre order bonuses. My thought process has always be this, if a game is interesting to me then I will buy it. That simple.
-
Not hard, the pool of players is 10 milion plus players. Initially it was people aware of the broken promise of a game.
-
Lot of salty people just look at the numbers on the PSN Store at all versions, then their is Xbox, PC & physical copies. Their are very mad that everyone likes D2 unlike them, its cool outside.
-
29 RepliesJust shows you guys are moronic and didn't learn your lesson last time....
oh well, it's your money and their terrible game
-
3 Replieshow many people will play this for more than a week? D1 has what, 50% of people haven't even done a raid. I really hope there is a trophy/achievement for whatever the final vanilla D2 mission is, just to see how many people bother to even complete the main game.
-
4 RepliesGuess you forgot that d2 is also on the pc.
