TELL ME THE UPSIDE OF HAVING TWO PRIMARIES IN PVE

Edit:48>126(147 or 252)
Lel, people keep using the argument from reddit "147>48" Two slots are of the same damn weapons. Only difference is one has a burn and one doesn't. We went from having three burn weapons to having two again and one of them is heavy. We went from having three weapons, One does average damage (primaries), one does high damage (secondary), and one does massive damage (Heavy) to having two average damaging weapons (burn only does more damage to shields), and one slot for both heavy and secondary? AGAIN,.......sigh I'll take 48 combinations of weapons I know I will use over the 126 (or 252 or whatever the hell number you people come up with). For the simple fact I can use P<S<H, Now we got P,P<H&S
Edit: alright, comment raffle closed. I have the names. You'll know who won late august. Edit: We all lose, I saw a few really good points on the new system, but tbh none of them convinced me its better than what we have. I still think the current destiny weapons system is lightyears better than the new D2 system. You can't argue with having a primary, secondary, and a heavy. Can't tell me what the downside of having that option is. Not possible. So what i'll do instead is, anyone who left a comment will be entered in a raffle. I will inbox the winner and ask that they make a post showing they revived the game. SOOOO..
As a guardian who has spent most of his time playing pve in Destiny (check my resume). I can't see the bigger picture. If you are a pve addict like I am/was and like the new weapons system. Show me what the hell you see. Not being able to use my AR, Fusion, AND a MACHINEGUN....wait those are gone too.....sigh just kills me inside. If your reason is convincing enough ill drop bitching about it (won't have a choice soon anyway lel) and I will pre order (the first person who convinces me) you a disk copy of D2(NOT A JOKE). No way a player who only plays pve in destiny can tell me they prefer the new system over the loved current one......but try anyway.
There are only two solutions to this IMO to accomodate people like you who like the system and those who don't. Either they make the "energy" slot a flex slot and let us equip a second power weapon in that slot for the purposes of PVE only, or they give us 4 weapon slots, again for PVE Only.~BXR Lonestar
Comment from another post, but why is it THAT PLAYERS COME UP WITH BETTER SOLUTIONS THAN BUNGIE DOES? ffs
Edit:....d2 will truly be "a world without light"
kidding but not kidding.
Edit: Thanks for the comments. Some of these are hilarious.

  • Is there any upside to having two steering wheels in a single driver car? Is there any value to having two butter knives for your one piece of bread? The only value to having two primaries is for the PvP guys who hated getting killed by special weapons. That's it.

The reason the new system is better is flexibility. Keep reading for the details. So, I actually fall into the camp of people who see this system as an improvement in PvP and as something that is neutral in PvE. The kinetic/elemental/power system they have now actually is more flexible. This is because, especially Destiny 2, there is more variety in primary weapons than there was in special and power weapons in Destiny 1. In Destiny 1 you had special weapons 1) shotgun, 2) sniper, 3) fusion, 4) the later added sidearm (tell me if I am forgetting anything). For heavy weapons you had 1) HMG, 2) Rocket Launcher, and 3) the later added sword. for Primaries there were 1) Auto Rifles, 2) Scout Rifles, 3) Pulse Rifles, and 4) Hand Cannons. This means that between your Primary and Special Slot, you had 8 possible weapons you could equip. This means you had 16 possible combinations between your first two slots, and 48 possible combinations across all weapon slots. In Destiny 2, you have 6 potential kinetic/energy weapons: 1) AR, 2) HC, 3) PR, 4) SA, 5) SMG, 6) SR. This means that you have 21 possible combinations in your first two slots. In Destiny 2 you have 6 potential power weapons: 1) Sniper, 2) Rocket Launcher, 3) Grenade Launcher, 4) Shotgun, 5) Fusion Rifle, and 6) Sword. This means that you have 126 potential weapon class combinations in Destiny 2. 48 weapon combos possible in D1; 126 weapon combos possible in D2. (This is incorrect, someone pointed out that I forgot Linear Fusion Rifles in D2, see below) That is a HELL of a lot more variety. The combos can't be exactly the same as in D1, which is what has people so bent out of shape, but that is a MUCH more flexible toolkit than what we had in D1. If you have a boner for auto rifles and like using them exclusively, -blam!- it, equip two of them, one kinetic and one the element you need. If you want to have one long range weapon and one short range weapon, do a Scout with an SMG or a sidearm. If you get a great exotic, no longer do you have to worry about what you will equip in the other slot so that the exotic doesn't gimp you. If you get an exotic that you love but it is geared toward close encounters, you can equip another weapon for long-range. This system is much, much more flexible. The only thing you can't do now is equip a heavy with a special that also hits like a heavy. I view it as a good change. Weapons capable of a 1HKO are lumped together, so you REALLY have to think about what you want to bring as your big enchilada. No more equipping a brutally powerful sniper rifle with Gjallarhorn and doing an entire boss fightt with only those two weapons and wiping the boss in a matter of seconds. I think this is going to make the game more interesting and a lot more fun, once people get over it. EDIT:: I forgot Linear Fusion Rifles. This means D2 has even more combos. 48 weapon combos possible in D1; 147 weapon combos possible in D2.

      • There is none. Instead of having a utilitarian Primary weapon, and stronger Special and Heavy weapons to take care of the enemies that the Primary cannot, we're now just stuck with two pathetically weak Primary weapons eating up space. There was no point to this than to further sacrifice yet another PvE feature (thus making you feel even weaker still in PvE) in order to balance the PvP. The Destiny franchise will NEVER be an e-sport-worthy franchise, Bungie! Get that through your -blam!-ing skulls and fix this atrocity!

        • It is basically the answer to everyones feedback, not just yours or the group you find yourself lol. Now in PvE we can get elemental primaries unrestratined by exotic slots. Heavy weapons now include 3 of special weapons that can now do more potential damage per shot. In PvP sidearms are no longer the answer when all primaries can be. As well as keeping the one shot weapons under greater control while keeping their power. That's the long and short of it, and it's a result of all of the feedback during destiny lol. It solves literally everything. Not the new ones stemming form this change mind you.

So basically we have 2 primaries, (one to take down PvE enemy shields), and a power weapon. The power weapons are watered down rockets, and slightly buffed shotguns/fusions and snipes feel the exact same. Overall they took away the "special" slot for PvP balance and only allow ONE PERSON AT A TIME to get heavy when it drops in PvP matches.
HORRIBLE IDEA
• Having elemental primaries is good for burn activities, but why I need a 2nd kinetic primary is quite stupid. The D1 system is far better, feels more powerful, and is more enjoyable.

                • The old system made gunfights a waste of time and there might as well have been no Primary Weapons at all. It was unbalanceable and it made Exotics completely useless. And because of the constant spam of grenades 1 HK weapons and superpowers there was really no competition or gun fights in PvP. The new system is better in every single way and there's no comparison.

Because of more variety. I main scout rifles, and would like something other than a sidarm to cover ranges scouts lack. Come on smgs, autos, hand cannons, and sidarms again. Though boss dps is lower, (which is conpensated by reducing boss hp) ad control is higher. More of the fun factor with more combos to play with. I cant think of a reason why its bad other than I cant one shot people all day with a shottie in crucible, but im willing to give that up considering i wont be one shot 24/7 all day either People seem to not understand that hp values and power drop rates can be easily changed. On top of this, (for all you lore people out there) i believe bungies vision for the guardians arent for them to be gods, but a force that can hold off 5 militaries at once. In d1, i felt godly. I can mow down armies without being touched. In d2, i feel like my enemies are stronger than me. I feel like i need to play more tactical. Encounters need to planned out and just rush the enemy. For me, that makes a more fun game than just mowing through everything

The PvP crybabies won't get triggered? Who am I kidding, of course they will. In reality there is no upside. It ruins PvE.

                      • Why you satisfy those complainers in PvP who never checked their corners and decided that special weapons should be removed because of their inability to try That's alright. The next big complaint from them will be camping, which this game absolutely promotes now.

                      • My only problem with it was that the primaries weren't the best. But that's being fixed. Another problem was power weapons were fun to use, but I never got to use them. That's being fixed. So I'm stocked for this new weapon system. Also, does anyone know if linear fusions OHK on a headshot. If so, they will be the up-close snipers, which is how some people like to use snipers.

                        • With how little ammo we got in PvE, it was nice to switch to a second primary with it's own ammo supply, after the first ran out.

The upside of them? When you are finished counting how many times you have to reload before something dies. You get to switch to the other primary and do the same thing. Always look at the bright side of things no matter what illusion this company creates.
