I really enjoy being able to switch between say a scout rifle and an auto rifle to cover various ranges without feeling like I'm wasting valuable ammo (special ammo), it just feels natural. Sure there are some balancing tweaks that need to be made so we don't feel so under powered, but I'm really looking forward to destiny 2!
Edit: This is from the perspective of someone who mostly plays PvE.

I like it.

Bump. Ditto on covering ranges, not the only one.

Edited by Soul_Eater_42: 7/26/2017 2:27:45 PMI would have liked it if they had the same damage output as they did in D1, but they nerfed them, so it requires team-shooting to kill anyone in Crucible, and takes a long time to chip away at shielded red health enemies, and yellow health enemies in PvE.

You are not, Pvt Toast.
-
I enjoy it I like being able to use a auto rifle and a scout together (favorite 2 gun types imo)
-
I like new weapon system to i used scot rifle and hand cannon was awesome in crucible.

6 RepliesI think the new weapon system isn't really as bad as some people think. I don't really think it improves pve very much, but I don't think it hurts it much either. To me it kind of feels like a neutral change in pve. I do think that they should make power ammo drop more in pve though. It takes forever for power ammo to drop right now, and now that snipers, shotguns, and fusion rifles have been moved to the power slot, they need to make power ammo drop more that Destiny 1 heavy ammo to compensate.

1 ReplyExperiment, adapt, overcome. It's how we all got to this point. Just please make grenade launchers hit harder.

3 RepliesEdited by DidacticRhetoric: 7/26/2017 10:15:07 PMEdit: What most people have said is bang on: it's great for PvP, but terrible for PvE. Really comes across like a half-baked idea. I did not use my kinetic weapon at all when I ran the strike except when I ran out of ammo completely on the other two guns.

Edited by vitisku1: 7/26/2017 7:37:58 AMWell, personally I have two very different answers. For pvp it's fine I guess. With all the factors they've changed it's ok. I don't love it, I don't hate it. For pve? It's -blam!-ing horrible. Just horrible. It's not fun, it slows everything down. The weapons aren't as fun or snappy or as crisp as D1 so primary weapons don't feel as good to begin with, and now I have two of them. Great, awesome. I enjoyed practising sniping in pve when swarmed with enemies, I enjoyed testing my reaction speeds trying to headshot swarms of thrills and then when I get overwhelmed, annihilating them with a sword. Now I have to pump 3 clips of ar ammo into a major to down him and then move onto the next one to do the same again.

Nope, your not alone. I really enjoy the new weapon system. I like the idea of having a hand cannon and a pulse rifle, or what have you. It felt pretty normal to me, and I was happy to go around corners without the worry of staring down four sniper rifles.

I like having 2 sidearms

I do like having two primaries. It used to really annoy me having to go into the menu to swap weapons whilst under fire. But I don't really like them combining heavy and specials. I wish they had just added another slot (2 primary, 1 special, 1 heavy). I do think people are making too big a deal about it though. I'm sure after a while people will get used to the new system.
-
I have some gripes but you know it wasn't hard to get used to it. I played as a warlock (#masterrace) and used nightshade with submachine exotic Risk Runner and I did fine; I Had mid range and close range covered.
-
Honestly I wasn't sure but after using it I've found it suits my play style better and as a result I've been swapping weapons more, don't like subs horrible guns, and that goes for both PvE and PvP

Edited by Swiftlock: 7/25/2017 9:25:48 PMPutting down my sniper/fusion/shotgun just to use a traditional heavy weapon doesn't feel as fun. Now it's just mostly pecking at targets with Primary A or Primary B with slow cooldowns, all due to PvP nerfs. Not really very satisfying.
-
It's ok, but I'd really like the option of equipping an elemental weapon in the non elemental slot, with the elemental damage disabled.

2 RepliesEdited by CatMan: 7/25/2017 4:16:45 PM
being able to switch between say a scout rifle and an auto rifle to cover various ranges
Yeah, definitely can't do that with a sniper and a AR, and clear out crowds with a rocket In destiny. Nope cant do all three of those thing. That was a good mooooove on bungie part
-_- especially on these huge open new maps.
-
The new weapons are vastly superior. No more shotguns and snipers dominating the map.
-
It works for me for both PvP and PvE. I finally get to play space cowboy, with a scout rifle, hand cannon, and something heavier for short-range social work.
-
It makes sense. Especially if you're pushing the game towards a teamwork based shooter.

1 ReplyIt reminds me almost of Halo, I loved carrying a BR an the assault rifles/smgs/plasma carbine. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me, feels good. I normally didn't run through strikes with shottys or fusion rifles. I like that the "Power Weapons" have their own spot now. If you play a little more tactile an hit your crits theres no issue. The strike was hella fun.
-
Basically teaches you to conserve ammo for encounters. Makes you play smarter. Just like Halo ;) All this business about having to weapon swap,we did this in D1 as well for each encounter.
-
I love it. I've been having a blast, trying out different weapons and finding combos I enjoy. I think with pve tweaks(more damage and such) it'll be awesome. I think it's great for pvp!
